Looking for help in planning Penn. park trip.
YoshiFan replied to bert425's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you decide to go to Dorney, don't go on a Friday in May unless it's later in the day (until around 5:00 or a little later). They have Music In The Parks with many school groups on Friday's in May and some of June and it's one of the few times where Dorney actually gets lines. -
Least favourite type of coaster?
YoshiFan replied to Angle O. Descent's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's what I hate about Superman Ultimate Flight at Great Adventure. You are on the brake run with your head tilted down waiting for the other train to dispatch and after a while it starts to get really uncomfortable. That is one ride where I actually prefer 1 train running so that can be avoided. -

Spinning coasters, I don't mind ones that spin a little but others can really make me dizzy. -
I just finished Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for PS2 and started playing GTA 5 on PS3. I like it more than GTA 4 but not as much as San Andreas on PS2.

That reminds me of last season when I would hear One Direction multiple times per trip to Great Adventure. Then when it wasn't being played there were ride ops singing the song and other times while on coasters a group of girls would randomly start singing the same song. Although it wasn't just at parks, that song couldn't be avoided anywhere, even in the casino I would hear it being played where no one under 21 can even enter the building.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I also take Tylenol before most trips to a park especially after last year when I rode Gwazi and had a headache for close to an hour afterwards. Great Bear is probably my 2nd least favorite B&M invert (out of 6 I have ridden) but I still think it's a great ride. That helix before the drop is unique and I really like how it has the the loop and then immelman right after the first drop. It's amazing how they fit the coaster in with so many rides close to it. -
I thought I remember hearing one park, maybe Kennywood gave them out without air and it would be nice if all parks did that. Around 5 years Great Adventure some kid was bouncing a basketball in Scream Machine's station (when you could bring loose articles in the station) and he lost control of the basketball and it hit the track in the station and fell under the station area. I was hoping the park wouldn't get it back for him but they sent a mechanic under the station to get the basketball back.

Best B&M sitting coaster?
YoshiFan replied to rcjp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only ridden Hulk and Kumba and of those 2 I liked Hulk better. I really liked the launch from the lifthill and the layout of the ride. I liked Kumba too but not as much. -
I agree the park has gotten better. I had such a bad trip to the park in 2002, that I stayed away in 2003 - 2006. Then I decided to give the park another chance in 2007. I had the total opposite visit compared to 2002 that I decided to get a season pass in 2008 and have gotten a season pass every year since then. Now it's rare to see 1 train on any coaster that has multiple trains except on days the park is so empty that even with 1 train, it isn't going out full and the park is a lot cleaner than it used to be.

Burgers, burritos are good too though.

I don't know how true it is but a while ago I remember hearing that before Red Zone took over, the plan was to retheme.or add to the theme a section of the park each year. They had started with Golden Kingdom in 2005 and then Plaza Del Carnaval the year after but that was the end of it after the change in management. If it was true, it's a shame it didn't work out because if the entire park was themed as nice as those 2 sections it would have been awesome.

I saw Coheed and Cambria at the House of Blues at Showboat in Atlantic City. It's one of my favorite places to see a concert because it's a small venue so all the seats are good. Plus parking is usually cheap at $5 and even better they had a promotion that month for free parking at Showboat.

2013 Black Friday - Shopping for the holidays
YoshiFan replied to larrygator's topic in Random, Random, Random
Amazon is where I did all my Black Friday shopping. I will not go out to the stores and fight the crowds or wait in line for hours to get a doorbuster. Last Thanksgiving on the way home from dinner at my Aunt and Uncle's house, we drove by Best Buy and even 3 hours before opening the line was wrapped all the way around the building. No item was worth that line. I shop for gifts all year and can generally find deals that are just as good as the ones as on Black Friday if not better by going to sites like SlickDeals. -

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

As long as you avoid Saturday's, Hersheypark in the Dark is one of the best times of the year to go to the park. Almost half price admission compared to the summer and other than the water rides everything is open plus low crowds on Friday or Sunday. -
New park operating procedures
YoshiFan replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, when the ride opened for part of the first year they had seatbelts that attached to the lap bar from the seat. A picture is here: http://coastergallery.com/1999/GA67.html -

I'm hoping that the B&M hypers at the SF parks don't get seatbelts. On my final trip to Great Adventure this year, I couldn't believe how fast they were dispatching the trains at Nitro and I timed it to see how long it was taking. It was averaging 70 - 80 seconds. The line almost never stopped moving and even with the line to the entrance (with no switchbacks used) it took 25 minutes. With seatbelts, it would probably take twice as long to dispatch the trains. -
Also Skull Mountain and The Dark Knight. With Road Runner Railway with a 36" requirement, Blackbeard's with a 41" requirement, The Dark Knight with a 42" requirement and Skull Mountain and Runaway Mine Train with a 44" requirement there are a lot of good coasters for kids to start out with and work their way up to the more extreme rides compared to other parks in the area like Dorney where the only coaster for a kid under 44" is Woodstock's Express and then there is Thunderhawk at 48" (and Wild Mouse but even if a kid meets the height requirement there was a rule added last year you have to be at least 8 years old to ride the coaster).

My favorite dark ride is Peter Pan's Flight at the Magic Kingdom. I have always liked the ride since I always look forward to the part of the ride where you fly over London at night with all the buildings lit up and the cars moving on the streets.

107 faaaaaast flips on a Topspin !
YoshiFan replied to GeorgeT's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All that flipping looks amazing but there is no way I would try it. I won't even try a regular Top Spin. It would be cool to see in person though.
