  1. The KI one will probably cost around $10 million.
  2. Kinda wish CP had never bought the Paramount parks. If they hadn't back in the day, Worlds of Fun would've been the 3rd biggest park in the chain attendance wise. That's why they used to get a new roller coaster every 2-3 years and now they get them every ten. I really can't complain though, as I would argue WOF gets treated better than almost all the other small parks, and next year the park will be receiving (at bare minimum) 2 flat rides and a new front gate. Probably a dark ride alongside those. As for Michigan's Adventure, I feel your pain. It's sad when you park gets nothing over a long period of time. But appreciate what you do have: an awesome wooden coaster, a beautiful lakeside amusement park, an awesome water park and an actually decent SLC.
  3. Let's be real: the only reason Cedar Fair even owns Michigan's Adventure is to make sure it doesn't compete with CP. Most of CP's attendance is from Michigan. The park was bought back in a day when SF was considering the park and already owned Geuaga Lake in Ohio. That's why CF bought it and pretty much ran it into the ground. Don't expect a new coaster. You are expected to go to Cedar Point.
  4. IMO, unless CF starts working with intamin again, or brings in RMC, it'll be really hard for any CF park to be better than CP. I already think Kings Island is better than CP.
  5. About time they paid attention to the water park, I think the last addition was the Proslide Tornado back in 2006. I'd love to see one of those trap door slide towers that CF has been adding to other parks. I wonder if the dry park will also be getting something in 2017? There's rumors of Boomerang closing down, but I can't imagine they'd take out a coaster without something to replace it. I read a rumor awhile back on another site (can't find it now) that a park employee claims to have glimpsed plans in an office for some type of coaster in place of Boomerang and Riptide. This person said it was just an overhead layout of a long and narrow coaster that wrapped around Sky Cabin and appeared to loop out over the lagoon between Johnny Rocket's and Coast Rider. It also appeared to enter and exit a tunnel through the backside of Calico Mine Ride, but that could have just been the lighting. According to Google Earth that space including the loop around Sky Cabin but not section over the lagoon is about 540 by 135 feet. The lagoon adds about 180 by 180 feet. That's 104,625 total square feet of area, some of it having to pass over walkways. Xcelerator by comparison is 76,600 sqft and Silver Bullet is 153,800 sqft. What kind if coaster would fit there? A GCI could. Considering GhostRider is essentially a GCI now, I don't see this as very likely. I'm stoked about a Soak City upgrade. That park definitely needs some new paint and maybe a drop capsule tower. Worlds of Fun already has Prowler but they are still rebuilding Timber Wolf with GCI.
  6. Prowler's almost entirely hidden from the midway as well. I think that's what they're going for. (I know I'm bringing up Prowler too much, but these layouts are so similar it's rediculous).
  7. Once I killed a family of six just to get a ride on Windseeker. Turns out, it's not even a credit! Lol whoops my bad.

  9. While I agree with some of your points I have to disagree here. Unlike Mean Streak, Ghostrider actually had a decent layout. If Mean Streak were to just get smoother, it would be boring because the layout does pretty much nothing. But if CF gave GCI some creative freedmom, I bet they could turn it around.
  10. Comparing it to Prowler, looks pretty accurate. Also shows how similar the rides are.
  11. Because I think another steel coaster with a near-90 degree drop is not what the park needs? Because I think the roller coaster capital of the world should have at least one good wood coaster? Because I've seen what GCI can do with Ghostrider? Because building 2 new coasters in the same state could hurt the other park's return on investment?
  12. I've never been to KI so I wouldn't know. Sorry.
  13. Saw this on Instagram if it helps... Credit goes to @coastercaos
  14. If a rumor with zero evidence or clues to back it up has ruined you from enjoying what looks like a great wood coaster, that's your own problem. There was no merit to that rumor to begin with.
  15. Looks a lot like Prowler at Worlds of Fun. Since most people i know would rank that over Beast (and Golden Ticket Awards rates it over Diamondback), looks like a great fit and is a much better investment than a giga coaster in my opinion. Also, I find it funny that Prowler is themed to a panther, and KI used a gif of a kitten for one of their teasers. Looks like Prowler is getting a sister coaster. Prowler better than the Beast? No. imo. And I'm definitely okay with a new wooden coaster at KI. But there is nothing wrong with a giga coaster. A B&M giga at any park would be king...Especially at KI. Everyone I've talked to that's ridden both says Prowler is better. But let's not get stuck on this issue. Both rides are incredible and are for different people. Personally, I'm excited that CF is still investing in wooden roller coasters while other chains start to remove/convert their current woodies. Would everybody you've talked too also be a WOFanatic? And don't get me wrong, I agree with you that both rides are incredible. If KI is getting a Prowler sister, I'm definitely okay with that. Perhaps. The great thing is that no matter which one you prefer, you will pretty much have both at KI next year.

  17. Now that I think about it, I remember seeing a team of a few guys in Cedar Fair jackets riding Prowler in late May this year. I didn't think much of it when I saw it but now it's starting to add up.

  19. Except the park has already said what they're doing will be in house.
  20. I hope one year Cedar Fair adds a coaster to every park except Kings Dominion. They should take out I305 the same year too.
  21. In the Dollywood thread:
  22. I would have love to see the comments and madness that would have taken place if these boards were alive during The entire year delay of Superman :The Escape "This is really starting to hurt RMC's credibility" I can't breathe LR is/was partially operational for guest so right there proves RMC did their job the coaster they designed can operate safely period. If you go out and buy an aftermarket part for your car, put it on your car and it blows the engine up you don't blame Toyota you blame the parts maker. Well that's the same thing here RMC had someone else do the launch system and they are to blame how hard is that to comprehend. Intamin has had many issues and delays from the use of outside suppliers and they continue on to make and still making some of the most noteworthy rides in the business. RMC right now is the hottest ticket in the industry trust their rep is still Golden people in the industry know that prototypes and new idea's may take a little work to get the kinks out and that the customer even though they may be disappointed will still be there once the kinks are worked out especially when you dealing with a coaster as amazing looking as Lightning rod trust Dollywood's guest are not outside the gates holding protest b/c LR isn't open and the industry isn't close to turning their backs on RMC smdh Kind of disagree here - a lot of people would ultimately blame the car manufacturer. Most cars have parts and components made by other manufacturers anyway, but if you have mechanical issues with the TOYOTA you tell people "My Toyota sucks" you don't say, "That starter manufactured for Toyota by LIM Starters really blows" The whole is greater than the parts. To people who care but don't have ALL the info- this is being marketed as a RMC coaster - that has had LONG delays, and to those people who don't know ALL the details - they will think HUH...Those RMC people sure are having a hard time getting that new coaster working (or lumping it all under Dollywood for that matter. I know I'd LOVE to work for Dollywood or some people on this forum for the amount of slack and "grace" you give for not getting the contracted work done on time. I'd love to be able to tell my boss when I turn in my completed work four months late "Hey - its innovative and never been done before. In a year after you read it lots of times you'll forget about all these delays!" And to the original poster - wow sorry people on here are such jerks to you when you express your opinion. So your going to blame Toyota for an AFTERMARKET part damaging your car and wonder why some say we are living in the age of effing idiots!!! The car argument is a good argument but it doesn't add up in this case. It's not like RMC sold this ride to Dollywood with blank track where the launch was supposed to be and said "Find someone to build a launch". RMC contracted this company to build the launch mechanism. If I bought a brand new car from Toyota and the engine didn't work, I wouldn't care who built what parts. I'd be pissed at Toyota for their neglegance towards who they hired to help build their cars. Also, you're*. Number 1 Rule of the Internet: Don't make a grammar mistake while insulting someone's intelligence. I really don't like to be rude like this but this new trend of insulting each other over difference in opinion is getting out of hand.
  23. Man, just imagine a light package like that on an RMC...
