  1. A GCI wodie costs $8-10 million, A GCI rehab of Hurler would be about $6 million, a floorless conversion would cost about $3-4 million, flat rides cost about $1 million each, etc. The costs add up.
  2. It's the most park likely to get a B&M next year. Not only were they the first to start teasing, but they also built a wall, and they made Six Flags pay for it. Now I don't feel WOF will get a coaster next year, but I'd say if one Cedar Fair park were to get a new coaster next year, it would be WOF.
  3. Right now, I feel the Worlds of Fun side needs more attention than Oceans. I think the dry parks needs a large new, thrilling attraction before they start to invest heavier into the water park. The last large expansion was at the water park with the 6 slide complex in 2013. Unless you're scared of heights, that's the last thrilling attraction we receivedc
  4. My prediction: GCI 90 ft. drop, elevation changes. 0 inversions. 3000-3500 ft. long. 53 mph Name will have nothing to do with the Beast.
  5. I guess I don't follow what "has never been done" with regards to London Terror. If the map you posted is accurate there is a definite one way in - one way out to it. This is pretty much the tried and true formula of all of the mazes at WOF. The "wagon and crypt scene" will probably be lifted from the previous version. I should've taken a picture while I was there, but the first slide in the presentation said "London Terror will no longer be a maze." I don't know what that means. I'm thinking there will be this maze within London Terror, and perhaps London Terror will have an entire zone to itself. I don't know. All I know is that it will be different.
  6. Opening up Forum Ave. will result in much better guest flow and overall a better experience. As much as I loved London Terror (definitely the best besides Asylum and Bayou last year), it looks like Worlds of Fun is trying something that has never been done. As CarnEvil goes, I would have preferred that the zone got a new name, but otherwise I'm happy with it. I have chosen to work as a clown this year, so I guess I'll know first hand if it's a flop or not. But the costuming is very intriguing.
  7. New for HAUNT 2016: London Terror: London Terror will be relocated to Bicentennial Square (near Timber Wolf). While I don't know for sure how it will return, it sounds like it will be a scarezone/maze hybrid. You can walk freely into London Terror and face it's denizens, but the square's buildings will be open to anyone who is brave enough to recieve a more face-to-face experience. I don't know the details, but I do know it will no longer be a maze. Additionally, all London Terror makeup will be greyscale. CarnEvil: CarnEvil will be relocated to Patriot plaza with a new, darker theme. Gone are the bright costumes and cheap masks. Now, guests will face darker, face-painted "hobo" clowns wrecking havoc in a more populated area of the park. 7 Deadly Sins: Each Skeleton Key room will be revamped to reflect one of the seven deadly sins. Guests must prove their innocence to each sin in order to escape. Layout for London Terror
  8. I'd be shocked if it wasn't. I remember Dorney visited HAUNT at WOF last year, and said they were "very happy" with how Bayou turned out.
  9. 2017: I really haven't heard much lately, but from what I've heard, we should see some new flats, a couple of new, exciting events, and possibly a new front entrance. Haven't heard much of a dark ride lately. HAUNT: We will find out Wednesday. I work as a screamster, so I know my way around. From what I'm hearing, London will be in the vacant games building next to TimberWolf, while clowns will be moving to the Patriot plaza with a fresh new look. I'll let you know later in the week.
  10. What if love to see is some kind of VR game I could play on my Apple Watch while going up the lift hill and sitting in the brakes. As more smart watches are sold, I see big potential in on-ride VR games.
  11. What part of "Dinosaurs Alive has a 7 year contract with the park" do people not understand?
  12. Lightning Rod! It's unrideable!
  13. Do not trust to hope. It has forsaken these lands. It's certainly possible. I know Worlds of Fun is getting one soon, possibly next year. But does Valleyfair really need one? I feel the front entrance is already beautiful. It's not like Cedar Point, Carowinds, or Worlds of Fun's old entrances where you feel like you're entering an FEC. I remember when this discussion came up for Kings Island, and Matt responded by saying the entrance is already beautiful and doesn't really need a makeover. I feel the same about Valleyfair!
  14. PEEL OUT NOW....or not. So sad its funny - so funny its sad. They were talking about this thread, not the ride...

  16. Everything about this post is just golden!!! That's how you know you're in for a good trip report!
  17. More proof of Iron Hurler. Okay seriously, are you trolling? Yes. I'm trying to get you angry. You seem riled up that Canada's Wonderland isn't getting anything this year. I could not care less what Canada's Wonderland gets. I live in Kansas City, and have no plans to visit Canada any time soon. The only reason I'd like Canada to get something over KD is to see the fanboys in this thread cry for yet another 12 months.
  18. If you can hold back a trip for HAUNT, always do it. Worlds of Fun has probably the second best event in the Cedar Fair chain and Ed only makes it better. And from what I've heard, the show is different from the Psycho Circus show. Thanks! Great info. Unfortunately I want to go the first weekend of August because Silver Dollar City is open until midnight that Saturday ...if only I could swing that trip twice! Decisions, decisions... Oh yeah, you want to go for SDC's Midnight Madness. Since all their coasters are out in the woods, night rides are amazing, and they're only available for two weeks in the summer, and on random warm days during Nov and Dec. Good choice, though I will second that WoF's Halloween stuff is pretty great. I love theme parks at night and coasters in the dark woods so that is a must do for me! I wish more parks stayed open later... It's sad to see parks close at 9 or 10pm just after all the nice lights come on and the air outside cools off. It's really a bummer and I wish all parks could be open until midnight every night honestly. I'd go in September. Although night rides on Outlaw Run are great, haunted houses are better, if that's your thing. Kansas City also has 2 of the biggest and best haunted houses in the country, if that interests you.

  21. Good news and bad news. Good news: Ed Alonzo will be returning to the park for Halloween Haunt. Bad news: Steelhawk got stuck twice today.
  22. It's been a confirmed in-house project since the park opened for the season. Seriously.... can this rumor die already? Actually no, it hasn't confirmed to be in-house. The hints that RMC themselves dropped was clear as day pointing at Hurler. And it's not just KD fanboys saying this. Even Cedar Point fanboys acknowledged that it's happening to KD's Hurler. It only makes sense with Hurler being closed this long. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28853&start=31800 https://m.facebook.com/IrvineOndreyEngineering/photos/a.475305665826794.115576.474347982589229/1200454699978550/?type=3&theater Here: . Confirms that the park is working on it. One problem: that was months ago. This thing from IOE was just yesterday. Unless they say otherwise, all signs point to Hurler getting external treatment. This is the saddest and most desperate attempt for hope that I have ever seen. I know its hard to tell yourself that KD is lower in the food chain now, but it's something you have to do. To be honest, CF is perfectly fine keeping your collection like it is a lot longer than you think. You'd be surprised at how conservative the new team is. You'll be LUCKY to get a new coaster by 2020. Do you really expect a park to tell you the truth with what they are doing to a ride one whole year in advance. Just cause she said "blah blah look away nothing to see here" Does not mean that is true. Could be it failed inspection and they didn't know what to do. Cedar Fair does not lie when teasing attractions. They misdirect, but they don't lie.

  24. Thank you! I was gonna just put the quote, but the source police wouldn't have found that acceptable.
  25. The trim on Timber Wolf's second hill is the hardest hitting trim on a coaster, period. It literally feels like you've hit a dear that wandered onto the track.
