  1. I keep wondering this too. Most of the reviews I've heard since the park sold make it sound like it is still owned by six flags. Single train operation, bad customer service and excuses for problems throughout the park sounds very six flagish to me, yet the park is missing out on the only good part of six flags- RMC. So is the park better now owned by CNL or was it better with six flags? I've never been to the park but have wondered this over the past couple of years.
  2. They just confirmed on Twitter that the name is in that Facebook post. I'm going with Xtreme Collosus.
  3. I'm more offended that those are the ONLY shirts that they sell. I just wanted a shirt with a simple "El Toro" logo or something, but I found literally nothing Walking through the gift shops at a Six Flags park makes me feel like I've stepped into a real-life Idiocracy. The scary part is how well that crap sells.
  4. I still don't know the layout of Flight of Fear, and I don't want to so I can enjoy the surprises of the ride.
  5. The park needs to do a lot more to make the park "family friendly," but I'd rather the park give little effort like this than no effort at all.
  6. Looks like there won't be a rebrand of Splashworks, though I don't mind, I like the name Splashworks. Plus it's nice to see it's still free admission into Splashworks as well.
  7. A boomerang won't but I think California's Great America's Flight Deck rivals Gold Strikers line closely for being over 20 years old compared to a new GCI woodie.
  8. But "Everyone luuuuuuuuuves Marineland!"
  9. Yeah, the park made a good move here. And he says he never gets flack for wearing that shirt elsewhere, but I'm not gonna mess with someone wearing a shirt that says "Keep calm and return fire" Maybe the water wheel is a hint at an S&S free spin? SFGAd is a major US park, and the free spin is supposed to be going to a "major park".
  10. Welcome to the internet, you must be new here.
  11. I think this webcam thing is being blown way out of proportion. Wouldn't Cedar Point close it down before now if they were going to reopen it for 2015? And RMC already has 2 big projects for next year. I'm not saying they can't do more, but I thought they could only do 2 projects until they get their new plant built. And I can't see them teasing a new attraction for 2016 in the summer of 2014 when they haven't even announced what they are building for 2015 yet.
  12. I think this looks really good and should go over really well with families. It's always great to see parks making serious investments into family rides unlike six flags that adds a kiddie coaster just to increase their coaster count. With that said, I can't believe this costs $14 million. Hershey must really be trying to make an excellent quality ride here.
  13. It wasn't glass smooth, but it was smoother than Time Warp, Flight Deck, Wild Beast, Dragon Fire, Minebuster and The Bat (imo) so I always thought of it as one of the better coasters in the park. re: nutache, bend your knees a bit before they lock the seats and then stand flat footed for the ride. If that doesn't work maybe there is a cream you can apply afterwards. Then you could really look forward to riding. I went on skyider this spring on `don't take your kid to the park day` and went on 5 or 6 times walk on/ reride. It was a good time. I don't think i would want to go back and face huge lineups just for one last ride. I wonder if they are removing skyrider because it is in the way and disrupts the pathways. Maybe we can put up a petition to remove time warp and flight deck and relocate skyrider there. I remeber sfga was planning to remove whizzer and it was saved by public outcry. (skyrider is no whizzer, but is still worth riding). That's actually a really good idea. I'd support it if there was a petition. Unfortunately, Vekoma and Zamperla are still in business so they can make parts for Flight Deck and Time Warp, where as Togo is long gone. The park even said popularity isn't the reason they are removing it, so I'm guessing it was getting difficult to get parts for it.
  14. If I were you I would definitely go the weekend before as the weekend after is a long weekend right before school starts (Sept. 2) so everyone usually tries to make it out that weekend for one last visit of the summer. I'm not going either weekend (looking at the way I worded it, I can see the confusion). I would be going either the Mon and/or Tuesday after Waldameer or the Thurs/Fri before Conneaut. Which weekdays are the best? Crap, I can't read. I've only ever went on a weekday once in the summer and lines were very manageable so I don't think either before or after will make a big difference. Apparently (this coming straight from the park), Wonderland contacted B&M about getting an invert for 1995 and everything was fine until it came to sign the papers, and then B&M says they made a deal with Cedar Point that they can't build another invert in a 200 mile radius of CP, and Wonderland is 198 miles away from CP. And instead of Paramount giving us a B&M sit down, they were dead set on an invert so we got an SLC. Paramount has never cared about the quality of roller coasters CW got. I've always thought this story sounds a bit fishy, I mean, surely B&M would tell CW right away that they can't build them an invert instead of waiting until there is a contract to sign to tell them. I'm just thankful the park survived the Paramount years.

  16. ^Isn't there a really strong rumour that Knott's will be getting a dark ride next year too? Maybe Cedar Fair is planning on adding dark rides to all their major parks.
  17. It wasn't glass smooth, but it was smoother than Time Warp, Flight Deck, Wild Beast, Dragon Fire, Minebuster and The Bat (imo) so I always thought of it as one of the better coasters in the park.
  18. I rode it once last year during West Coast Bash and I couldn't believe how much they let this ride go. It's probably the roughest GCI next to Wildcat and Gwazi, and that's just insane for it only being built in 2009. The way it's going now it's headed to be "Son of Psyclone" in a matter of a few years. That's just sad. Whatever they do with Collosus, I hope they take better care if it then they have Apocalypse.
  19. Didn't the park say they looked at the wing model when deciding what Leviathan would be but they opted for the giga instead? Maybe this means they weren't impressed with the wing model.
  20. ^This echos my thoughts exactly. While I'm glad the park is focusing more on quality than quantity, there are still much worse coasters in the park I would rather see go. Anyways, I'd bet someone 20 bucks we are looking at a station location for a launched B&M.
  21. Why would they call B&Ms boring when 2 of their best coasters are B&Ms?
  22. Luke Bryan's "Roller Coaster" lyric video has a lot of footage of Cedar Point.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbr8O9XOU7U
  23. I think people were expecting something original and well themed, since that is what Busch Gardens is known for. How many clones does BGW have right now? None, so it has became a standard that enthusiasts have became used to. Although, we all know the GP won't know it's a clone and that's all that matters. As far as themeing goes, I'm not sure what they were thinking with that one.
  24. Yeah, that theming looks like Six Flags tried really hard to theme a ride... As for the coaster I'm not that disappointed, only I wonder how bad it's capacity will be?
