  1. I think that is the general consensus among enthusiasts, when you look at the Mitch steel poll. Leviathan 13 Millenium Force 14 And I've never heard of Leviathan having strong trims before until this thread. Life sucks, doesn't it?
  2. You wouldn't believe how many people have trouble grasping this concept. I'm liking this dark ride trend, and I imagine Cedar Point will follow suit soon as well.
  3. ^I agree. A lot of people I know that haven't been to the park don't even know they have roller coasters and other attractions besides the marine exhibits.
  4. When you say Knotts sells out, does that mean they shut the front gates after a certain number of people go through?
  5. ^Exactly. I have to drive 2.5 hours to get to my home park, and I would be pissed if I wasn't allowed in. So what's the answer for these crowded parks? 20+ mazes? Raised admission? Opening Haunt up for the entire week before Halloween?
  6. Kings Island is announcing their 2015 additions tomorrow at 2:00.
  7. Vortex at CW interacts with all types of terrain, whether it be diving off a mountain, flying through trees or almost skimming the water. And tonight, you get the bonus snow-covered mountain.
  8. Paramount obviously never got that memo.
  9. ^Yeah, I'm imagining the station being insanely crowded if they are pushing more people through than Leviathan. I know it's split up on two sides, but I'm still impressed that the GP are that organized down at CP. Though I'm sure Gatekeepers capacity would be greatly effected if it had bins like Leviathan.
  10. Leviathan, when the crew is working well pumps trains out every 45 seconds. Is Gatekeeper that fast?
  11. Wasn't the reason the park removed Skyrider was because of maintenance/lack of parts? I wish the park that bought it well, and I hope that they have good luck with it.
  12. Where did I ever suggest B&M decides what to build?
  13. Regarding the 1995 B&M invert fallout, there are two sides to every story and we have only heard the park's side of the story so they can say whatever they want. There is something the park isn't telling us. B&M is a professional company that if they did make a deal with Cedar Point that no other inverts could be built in a 200 mile radius, they would let the park know immediately instead of wasting their time and resources on a layout. So this is my wild conspiracy theory: Cedar Point did make a deal with B&M that no inverts could be built within 200 miles of the park, and B&M informed CW of this. CW then pays CP for an exception which Cedar Point agrees to since Wonderland isn't really in competition with CP. Plans for an invert at CW get underway, but the park and B&M have a falling out, the plans fall through and an SLC goes in instead. CW gets their money back from CP, and the park swore never to reveal this secret, and instead puts all the blame on CP. Disclaimer: I don't think this is serious, nor what actually happened, though the park definitely is holding something back. Plus I'm sure B&M would have built a giga for any park that asked for one, not just because they felt bad for Wonderland.
  14. Flight Deck is far, far from the shortest line in the park. And again, consider the ROI on the SLC going to Michigan's Adventure. This is a park that gets only around 1 million visitors, and its main draw is the water park. Parks this small cannot afford big coasters every 4-5 years like larger parks that get approx. 3.5 million like CP and CW, so when a used ride comes available, it should pay off well for the small park. And I highly doubt Michigan's Adventure is subsidizing Cedar Point, especially since Cedar Point went 5 years without a coaster after the SLC went to MA.
  15. Rides tend to be removed when they are at the end of their life cycle. That combined with the placement of the coaster probably made SkyRider the obvious choice to go in the minds of management. What about Mantis turning into Rougarou. Mantis is rough and got changed to a floorless coaster. Cedair Fair is just trying to make Cedair Point perfect. They should try to make Canada's Wonderland perfect. What's your point? Cedar Fair is not removing a coaster, the park is modifying a coaster. My point is that Canada's Wonderland should get the new restrains on Flight Deck as soon as possible. And that Cedair Fair cares more about Cedair Point than Canada's Wonderland. You need to take into consideration the return on investment for every decision each park makes. New restraints on Flight Deck likely won't increase ridership because ridership is already high. It also isn't very marketable unlike the Mantis conversion. Cedar Fair is trying to make each park as profitable as possible, they don't care about one park more than another.
  16. I'm not a fan of the one color only scheme either. Black track with those red supports would look so sharp.
  17. ^Why does Herschend not look likely to buy Darien Lake? They are already involved with the park and with CNL out of the way, they can make their own financial decisions about the park (ex Lake Monster). Hopefully Herschend will turn Darien Lake around and turn it into an amazing property like Dollywood and Silver Dollar City.
  18. ^What do you think a winky face means?!?
  19. The park already has a hyper and a giga, so a hyper-lite would complete the trio, it's perfect.
  20. ^No matter what the park builds, it is almost guaranteed to break some kind of Canadian record.
  21. The last three years (and likely more) the park has started daily operation the week after the Victoria day weekend, so I think it is safe to assume that will be the case next year.
  22. The only reason I could see them removing Iron Dragon is if parts become rare to find. I think of the three suspended coasters in the chain, Iron Dragon would be first to go. (I used to think it would be Flight Deck until The Bat conversion.)
  23. But bad blue and red color schemes are what Darien Lake is known for
  24. This was my biggest issue with Helix. I felt that it has a lot of "good" moments, but not really any "great" moments. The airtime moments were both good, but not better than the wooden coaster on the other side of the park. I would have preferred the ride to be "F**KING AWESOME" at just one thing rather than "Pretty good" at a variety of things. That's too bad, I was hoping this ride would be on par with rides like iSpeed and Maverick.
