For all the STUPID things I've done over the years, I'm surprised that my worst injury is no more than a few stitches or a sprained ankle.

Go Karts Disappearing at Cedar Fair Parks
arby replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This isn't a loss to me at all. I found these Go Cart tracks a waste of resources for the parks. They should leave this to places that specialize in Go Carts. There are numerous family friendly Go Cart tracks around if that is your thing. If you really love speed, then I recommend paying a bit more and trying a more realistic go cart racing experience. In my region of the country there is Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, and Andretti Karting in Atlanta. Both are indoor facilities with racing style Go Carts with a top speed of 35 mph. You have to have a driver's license to drive and also have to wear a helmet and flame-retardant racing suit. -
^^Mine is similar to that. I used to track all of them, but then so many just ran together as average coasters so I stopped trying to track the less than stellar ones or average ones.

Theme Parks In Iraq.
arby replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This area of Iraq is a little different. What you are saying is pretty true for the majority of Iraq as it follows the Mulsim culture like the rest of the region. The northern area is primarily made up of the outcasts of Iraq - the Christians and the Kurds. They all seemed pretty accepting to Americans. Of course my interaction was with the locals after we pushed the Iraqi army south and restored their power and water. I don't know what the climate of the area is like now. To comment on other posts, I wouldn't feel any less safe here than other areas of the world and even some areas in the U.S. While I don't want to take away from any service member who has experienced much more than I did, I have no desire to go back which would cause me to relive my experiences. I have no safety concerns anymore so than an American traveling anywhere in the world. -
Fixed. I always thought it was the name of the group...amazing what I learned from you and confirmed through a Google search.

I don't think Hurler could ever be great no matter what is done to it. With that being said, I hope this repair work allows them to remove the trims and make this a good coaster again. It used to be good with some air time back in the Paramount days, albeit it quite rough. -

Sometimes my eyes fool me. At first I thought you said masochist. Now that I read it a second time, I see you said Massage. Yes, you need a Massage afterwards, but yes, if you like riding it I think you are a masochist. -
B&M Wing Rider Coasters - Love or Hate?
arby replied to jfruge's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This. I've only ridden on Wild Eagle so far, but I liked the uniqueness of the forces. While it wasn't very intense and isn't a top 10 coaster of mine, I still really enjoyed the different forces that it had compared to any of the coasters I have ridden so far. The far distance you are to the center of gravity of the train really enhances the transitions between elements. -
Christmas Tree Ornaments – Theme Park Related
arby replied to OISU8P's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My Mom doesn't usually buy me anything for my birthday anymore so I was surprised when something showed up in the mail recently. She found a handmade ornament of Thunderbolt at Kennywood at a forge in Western PA. After a little digging I found the forge's website and they have nearly a dozen different limited edition ornaments for sale, mostly of Kennywood which you can see here. I'll certainly find a place for this ornament on my tree next year. -

Theme Parks In Iraq.
arby replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow! This is awesome! Thanks for posting it. I spent a few months in a field outside of Duhok in 1991 to help clear the area of hostile activity and allow the Kurds to repopulate area. It was pretty desolate back then. I'm so happy to see that the area is recovering and doing well nearly 23 years later. Despite the fact that there are now some credits there, I don't think I could ever go back to that area again. -

Very few people know at this point and they've done a good job keeping the real details quiet. The only thing we do know, is that if you trust the information Cedar Fair presented to Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, is that it will be a $30 mil coaster and will be at least 70 feet taller than Intimidator (232'). That would be one heck of a dive coaster. So while it is possible, I find a dive coaster unlikely. Based on the information that has come out, it seems undoubtedly it's going to be a giga coaster. We just don't know anything else. The good news is that I expect we'll start seeing construction begin on it in the next few months. Based on the construction, we're going to have a lot more to go on to speculate. -
If it wasn't Vista compatible, you could still probably get it to work by changing the compatibility mode of the program. Click the start button and start typing the name of the program to find the entry point for it. Right click the icon -> properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and check the box 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' then select the version of Windows that you want to emulate running this program in. When I used to use Live Messenger, it wanted to keep the program in my taskbar on Windows 7 even when minimized. I changed Messenger to run under XP compatibility mode which allowed me to minimize it to the system tray and keep it out of my taskbar.

My list has changed significantly over the past 6 months, primarily because of the results of my last cholesterol test. The only two fast food places we regularly visit are: 1) Arbys 2) Subway Both because it's easy to find healthier choices there like a side salad at Arbys instead of their curly fries. If I had to pick my favorite fast food place, it is Steak 'n Shake although I haven't eaten at one in over 6 months.

I was at a party for the first half which was too loud and I couldn't hear a lot of the commercials. That's why I left at halftime and came back home. Speaking of halftime, I've always been neutral about Bruno Mars although I like some of his songs. After seeing him, I though he was rather classy and gained some more respect from me. I think he outdid a lot of the previous year's halftime shows, for me anyway. Getting back to commercials, my favorite was the Clydesdales and the puppy. Second were the Doritos commercials. ^Yes, it seemed that most of the ads were car ads. At least they could have made them good instead of boring.

That looks great! I can't wait to see more.

As a fan of Legos I am really looking forward to the movie. Thank you for the review and the spoiler alerts so I could skip over those. Now I just need to make it to Legoland...
