I don't think so. I do agree with you on your Diagon Alley comment. We never watched Harry Potter or read the books during all the hype. We ended up watching movies 1-3 before our first trip to Universal and the rest before our second trip to Universal. Unfortunately the movies turned my wife and daughter into fans. Fortunately I had the background information that I needed to understand the area and rides. It would be nice if you didn't have to watch the movies to understand WWoHP. While not a Potter fan, I am looking forward to the Diagon Alley expansion. I appreciate how Universal has stepped up and is trying to take their parks to the next level. I am equally excited to ride Transformers since it was still under construction during our last visit. I had half a dozen butter beers during a trip in 2012. They were free since I was there for a private party when the park was closed to the public. They also let us ride Pteranodon Flyers so I have that credit. All the food was free so I ate my way around the park. That was the best time ever.

I don't watch many movies, but we did finally watch The Croods last night. I have heard mixed reviews since its release but I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I think it had a decent storyline and made me laugh quite a few times.

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Great! I look forward to it. Of course I will have Carowinds updates this year throughout the season. With so much going on in the next few years there will be a lot to share. -
Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?

So we got our 'snow' last night. As usual in the Carolinas, the weather forecasters were off. Our 3-5 inches worked out to less than an inch of snow. Since we don't have enough equipment to get all the back roads clear for the buses and it's not above freezing yet (22 degrees), most schools are out for the day. Here's a shot of our snow. -

Yeah, this is great news! I've never heard of the restaurant until now so it's great to see something coming to the park that we can't easily get outside of the park. I hope Cedar Fair continues this trend with its other parks. -

I've done the same! Furthermore, if timed out just right, cresting the main hill on Splash Mountain with the fireworks in the background is one of those moments that can't be forgotten. I forgot to mention that! It is awesome to come out of the mountain only to have the best view of the fireworks anywhere... at least for a few seconds before you plunge into the dark. -

Best reply of the thread! You caught my underlying tone of humor. Your last sentence fit me to a tee. From previous comments, I'm editing my first post and adding a coaster programmer. Great idea! -

We're not huge parade people although we don't hate them, either. The best thing about the parade at WDW was that Splash Mountain had no line. They'd let us ride it half a dozen times in a row because everyone else was at the parade. I guess in that respect, I really do love parades! -
Ha! I kill me! Best. Show. Ever.

Funny you said that. With the impending winter weather in the area I was thinking of pulling out my legos from the attic.

Good point! My basis for this was not at all scientific so it's not unusual that I forgot that and probably 1-2 other classifications so far. I am enjoying reading all of the responses. It's interesting to see what people are thinking. -

Did you discover that yourself? If not, it's common courtesy to cite where you got the info from. I know someone else revealed that info on another site yesterday and that's why I'm asking. -

To answer my own question, I started off as a Coaster Whore. I have since changed to the Coaster Rider category. My favorite part of a behind-the-scenes tour of Intimidator was this: -
I like to observe people. Over the past few years I have been 'observing' coaster enthusiasts, including myself, and have discovered six general categories of enthusiasts. While we generally fit into all of these categories, there is usually one category that predominantly describes each one of us. What primary type of enthusiast are you based on my humorous observations and generalizations? Coaster Engineer - For you it's all about gravity. Positive G forces, negative G forces, and lateral G forces are terms that you frequently use. You can name the amount of G forces on all of your favorite coasters and never fail to bring that up in a conversation any time you can. You regularly use an accelerometer app. Sir Isaac Newton is your idol and the namesake for your first born. Coaster Designer - For you it's all about the look. A coaster is a beautiful creation and the colors and setting should reflect this beauty. A lack of theming nearly rules out any reason for a coaster to exist. You've been overheard saying something like 'OMG, Becky. Did you see the awful colors on that coaster?' Martha Stewart follows you on Twitter. Coaster Creator - For you it's all about the elements and pacing. You know the order and duration of each of the elements on your favorite coasters and even announce them live for the 'enjoyment' of other riders. Nearly everything in life can be correlated to a coaster element. You have a pet named Immelmann, Top Hat, or Corkscrew and set up a shortcut key on your computer to load No Limits. Walter Bolliger follows you on Twitter. Coaster Rider - For you, it's all about the ride. It really doesn't matter what it looks like or what forces it has, what's important is the ride experience. You continue to reride subpar coasters hoping to find one seat with a good experience. You are hoping to be reborn as a water dummy and have even created a facebook water dummy group. You have an army of water dummies in your basement who answer to you and are your primary followers on Twitter. Coaster Whore - For you, it's all about riding as many coasters as you can. It doesn't matter that you've ridden 8 different caterpillars, you HAVE to get the credit on a different caterpillar. You are actively working on a new patent for anti-platform shoes that will decrease your height to 48" so you can pick up every kiddie credit without having to rent a kid. You have a tattoo of your favorite Miner Mike. You don't have time for Twitter because you're on your way to a family fun center. Coaster Programmer - For you, it's all about controls. Big red buttons, knobs, and flashing lights excite you. You are fabricating an industrial all weather control panel that will control your house and everything on your property. Before leaving the house you have to do a visual scan. Consign follows you on twitter. NOTE: This is all in fun and the descriptions are tongue-in-cheek. If any of these descriptions fit you exactly, PM me because I'd like to write an article about you.

OMG, they're calling for 3-4 inches of snow total, now! You'd better go get your milk and bread... oh wait, the stores are already out. You'd think we were getting 3-4' and will be snowed in for days. -
Waldameer Discussion Thread

Thanks for sharing the pictures and giving us an inside look at what's happening at Waldameer in the off season. It's sad that I grew up in western PA and have not yet been to Waldameer. I hope to change that in the next year or two. -
This is awesome! I've always been a huge fan of Legos. I even still have the ones that I 'played with - wife'/'built awesome things with - me' in the attic.

Wow, I'm glad you all are ok. That's quite the story. Fortunately we've had a lot of good luck other than destroying a tire on our towed car on the way to Texas last April. We now carry a full size spare for my car. The southwestern states are beautiful in their own right, albeit quite different than easterners such as myself are used to. Hopefully you can make it out there soon! We look forward to checking out the bay area and northern California. Right now I'm penciling in a 2015 trip to CO (our fav place) and then continuing west to CA after a few days. If the timing works out well, we'll also likely head north into Oregon and Washington.

It would have to be a REAL GOOD deal as they start out about double of what my current unit retailed for. I just looked at the specs, though, and I see it puts out 1150 lb-ft of torque with a Cummins 9L ISL and an Allison 3000 6-speed. Wow! I thought my current 450 lb-ft was good. Anyway I looked at a diesel pusher every which way I could before we bought this one and there was no way I could budget it. Now that I look at the floor plan on the 41' pusher, I kind of like the floor plan on my 36' gas unit better with 1 1/2 baths. That has already come in handy a few times... That sounds like a great class C! It sucks that they messed you over so much like that. There really still are a lot of great deals out there on RVs since the economy is different than it was pre 2008. I know I got a killer deal on mine. I wish you the best of luck on your continued search (with anybody BUT that dealer )

I hear you. We've had at least 4 days, now, where it hasn't gotten above freezing all day which is unusual for us. It was 64 today but the high tomorrow is once again only 29 and now they're calling for 1-2 inches of snow. -

LOL! It's awesome to see what we do for another credit! The looks of the people in front of you are priceless!! They seem certain that it is about to collapse at any time... I guess you could say that would add another layer to a ride experience. -
No comment. I used to be a wild driver when I was younger but I"ll save those stories... Nice setup! You're sitting better than I was. I had a 33' ultralight trailer and a Ford F150. While the truck was rated to pull the trailer, it certainly got hairy quite a few times. After we priced a good HD rig and a 5th wheel, we decided to go with a motor home. I've been really happy with my 6.8L V10 gas engine. It has all the torque I really need and I've only had to climb one hill with the pedal to the floor and I couldn't accelerate - that is the 11 percent grade hill heading to Knoebels from Hershey while towing my car. I had my eye on a nice diesel pusher but my wallet didn't line up with it.
