  1. Two of the added ones near the bottom may be for a launch boost button. I don't see that on the original panel.
  2. Darien Lake announced on Facebook that they will not be hosting Fright Fest next year either. Sounds to me like management is set for 2016, and it seems like Premier will still be in charge. While of course nothing is official, just some food for thought.
  3. Yeah, I would definitely like to see a close up of Ka's with visible labels to compare with TTD's. Good to see a lot of the big coasters popping up on this thread!
  4. I was so pressed for time that Impulse was the only "big ride" that I missed. Wish I would have known that as I would have been able to squeeze it in.
  5. I hate to be Debbie Downer, but I wouldn't get too excited about Polar Coaster ever happening. They're building one in Orlando right now. Not sure if you meant that in a "nobody would ever build this way" or "it won't work" way.
  6. There's a legend that the head guy at BGW hates Intamin, so I guess that's why they went with Zierrer. Seems like Cheetah Hunt was the bigger hit though and at a much lower cost That sounds familiar. I think there were some issues with Escape from Pompeii. I bet BGW wishes they had gone with Intamin on Mach Tower. I've heard this too. It's probably only a BGW issue because BGT just installed Falcon's Fury
  7. Once somebody steps up and builds another Intamin, then more suitors will join. My eyes are on Hershey right now. I'm hoping that them and Intamin can pull something else off due to their good relationship. Especially seeing that all three Intamins there are relatively new and none had any major mechanical issues. The Polar Coaster will also be a big feat. Another record for Intamin, and they remain the only company to "push the envelope" with limits. However, the coaster has to work. I think it will be fine because there are no launches or anything that could cause issue, but I said the same thing about I305, so we'll see.
  8. If Magnum was as comfy as MF, for me, it would rank higher than MF in my books. Still love the ride though. It remains great to this day.
  9. The trains will improve. Remember that the trains are still in the first generation, and improvements will most likely be made with every new set.
  10. Totally agree with this. The angle of the drop doesn't have as much to do with the force as the shaping does. Intamin does a great job with that. Skyrush's first airtime hill looks forceless from POVs, but in reality it is the most intense airtime I have ever experienced.
  11. It just keeps getting better and better. RMC has really made up for the Intamin void in the US. Alan knows exactly what the people want in every coaster, and that's why not one design has been "just meh" yet. I'm guessing that steel supports will hold this up rather than a hybrid structure. That track is massive. Can somebody confirm this, or is it still unknown?
  12. Maybe that's the goal of the single rail prototype in their shop. I can definitely see RMC doing a Mega coaster soon with any of their track styles.
  13. Skyrush is my favorite. It's almost like it has two bumps of airtime in the back. One while cresting the hill, then the train just takes a nosedive for the ground. It's amazing.
  14. The red looks a whole lot better on the white steel than it does on any of the woodies.
  15. I might be the only one that feels this way, but waking up to Arrow anti-rollbacks would be the best alarm clock ever.
  16. Most B&M designs have two separate drive wheels that clamp onto the brake fin. There's almost nothing sharp where it can get ripped up. Whereas most Intamins use something similar to diamond plate on the bottom of their trains for traction. This makes more wear on the tires due to the sharp ridges.
  17. It is really unfair that Intamin has been blacklisted because of their little problems. Are Intamins the most reliable rides ever? No, but the problems are very overblown. Plus they are one of the only companies that is willing to push the envelope. B&M is an amazing company as well, but they have always been years behind Intamin in nearly every aspect. Skyrush was their last coaster installation in the US. Besides the complaints about restraints, it has been a very reliable ride and shows how far Intamin is willing to push limits of coasters.
  18. With this coaster having a vertical loop in it, I'm much more convinced now the trains will be Blitz style rather than Wing style. Which is a bit of a shame, but then again who knows? Plus this thing will still have incredible airtime from the looks of it.
  19. That would be awesome. The world needs more Intamin wing coasters. Skyrush's first drop is so intense, I could just imagine what this will be like. Maybe if this and Taron are successful next year, Intamin will begin to work its way back into the US.
  20. Yes, as a matter of fact I am certified in maintenance and used to work at the park before getting my engineering degree. Things of course have changed through the years, and have gotten a lot better, but maintenance during the late SF years and early PARC years was not up to par with other parks' procedures. Yes, the trains were thoroughly inspected for safety and repair needs but a lot of the little things went untouched. The bare minimum was done just to keep costs down and make sure the ride could run for a whole season. Now am I saying every little part down to the nuts and bolts has to look like new? No, absolutely not. But the chassis of the ride shouldn't have uncoated metal and there shouldn't be tape holding padding and restraints together either. As for the brake fins, the ride has magnetic braking, meaning there should be no contact whatsoever between the train and the plates. Every time the train rolls through the brake run the fins loudly slap against the plates. Either something isn't aligned right or one of the fins is loose. Repeated contact like that could ruin the train or even cause injury to a guest waiting in line. I'm not trying to "insult" maintenance because I myself used to work there and still know a lot of guys who still work there. It's just sad that CNL isn't giving them the budget they need to upkeep things to the point where they have to make makeshift repairs to run a single train.
  21. I noticed it has been getting worse over the years, but I don't complain about roughness. The front is much smoother than the back, which is actually common on Intamins. I don't let roughness ruin the ride for me like some other people do. It's like the end of the world for them if their favorite coaster gets a slight rattle. The helixes are where it is noticed the most, the rest of the ride is still smooth.
  22. The new train rumors are most likely because of previous maintenance of the trains, rather than because they were prototypes. Remember that Millennium Force runs the exact same trains, and to this day still rides like new because of their maintenance. Cedar Point actually goes through everything during the offseason when they tear down the trains. Whereas DL has been doing the bear minimum to keep 1 running. The trains have been getting in worse condition over the last few years. They have developed a big rattle during some parts of the ride, and many other parts have been beginning to wear. A few examples are the brake fins becoming loose and slapping against the brakes, the seats and restraints are worn, the chassis is beginning to rust in spots, and the plates on the bottom of the trains have been chewing up the drive tires quicker. Not only has this prevented the park from running 2 trains (which is badly needed), but the ride has become rougher as well.
  23. Those footers are colossal! The last footer looks like a foundation for a house.
  24. It must be a problem only with IE. I can view the link fine on my phone with Firefox.
  25. Every aspect of Fury is just so photogenic. They did an awesome job with this coaster.
