LSM Speedboat Amusement Concept
coasterkid124 replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's definitely cool, but I cannot see too many parks dishing out 15 million dollars for this. You can get a great coaster for that price. -
Either way, it seems like Premier will be sticking around. So that either means the park will still run with CNL as the owners, or they are planning to purchase the park. At least for next year, it seems like HFE is out of the question based on the fact that the park has fall events for next year already planned. Thanks to everyone posting updates for this weekend. Hope to see more, as the park has had time to work on things during the week.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Skyrush would like to have a word with you -
Oh my gosh, that's terrible! Yeah, it's pretty bad. The Sky Rocket coasters still aren't even being advertised on there, yet rides like The Chiller, and Buzzsaw Falls are. I'm pretty sure there's a better chance of Schwarzkopf coming out of his grave than a park wanting to buy one of those. You would think Premier would want a modern and up to date website so parks can see what they really have to offer. Of course there's IAAPA, but there's so many vendors that it would be hard to focus all their time on just one.

2 hours is normally my limit, and even then I'll usually skip. I'll only wait that long or longer in special circumstances. I don't buy Fast Passes either, again I only will in a special circumstance. Here are my biggest factors... 1) Is this a ride I will enjoy, or can I get more rides in on something I will enjoy more? (Example, 1 ride on MF, compared to 3-4 on Magnum). 2) Is the ride new, if so, when will I get to the park again? (Example, skipped Laff Trakk, will hit next visit) 3) Is the ride consistent, or is there a chance it will break down? (A reason why I'll never wait 2 hours for Dragster) 4) Depending on the park and length of visit (I'll skip a ride if I'm pressed for time and want to hit as many as possible) 5) If I arrive to a ride that is down for maintenance, what is the issue? I used to work in maintenance and know an estimated time it will take to fix. The longest line I've recently waited in was 90 minutes for Rougarou, and I'll never do that again. I just really wanted to see how it compared to Mantis.

Other then at Darien Lake, nothing more major than a lift/brake stop. When I used to work maintenance at DL, we would practice evac procedures once in a while. So we intentionally would stop employees in all different situations and release restraints. Ride of Steel was the toughest to evacl not because of the height, but the restraints could only be released via battery pack.

Keeping my fingers crossed for that... Hoping it's an Intamin Sky Jump. -
The new website looks great! It's a lot cleaner and more modern. Hopefully their new models are good sellers. Now only if Premier would freshen up their webpage...

Ferrari World Discussion Thread

Why can't Ferrari World be in the US??? It just keeps getting better and better. Like I said before, the world needs more Intamin Wing Riders. -

Every picture of this project finds a way to amaze me a little more. A question about the Vekoma footers... Is this a joint project between Intamin and Vekoma? Or are they just doing some subcontracting? -

I'm surprised that they installed an AB screen on an older coaster like Rebel Yell. But they can really simplify panels in some cases and fit a lot of stuff into a small screen. The Hypersonic panels are also cool. Thanks! -
What's causing the U.S Intamin drought?
coasterkid124 replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don't forget Aquatrax -
I'm really surprised to hear about the crowds. I never really caught anybody causing issues at MFI, but then again things can change in two years. As for the vallying, I know their old Schwarzkopf Wildcat had a few issues with it. For those who remember, Cedar Point's had the same issue. This is most likely why there is the minimum rider policies on Comet and the Mouse. Not that those coasters ever vallied, but if they were to, MFI doesn't have the big equipment on site like big parks do to winch them back in. A rental crane could take a couple of days to get there, then you need a crew to move it back. That would be a big blow to the park if Comet went down, because its their "star" attraction.

I know that I said before that I wouldn't ride the rides if they got headsets, but I would at least give it one shot. My previous experiences with VR have been for an extended period of time, whereas a ride lasts only for a few minutes. I doubt it would be mandatory though, because not everyone can stomach VR, and it is an opportunity to reel in some extra cash for parks.

Walibi Belgium Discussion Thread
coasterkid124 replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, I'm glad that I stumbled upon this thread. I never realized this was getting built until today. Looks like a very cool concept, I would like to see how it operates when complete. Don't mean to bump an old topic, but about the "Drop n Splash"; was it really cancelled? That was one of the products from IAAPA that I really wanted to see get built. -
My biggest issue is the motion sickness. I can do boats, coasters, planes, all that no problem. VR headsets are the only things that I have had issues with, and I have tried Oculus and even the Valravn VR app. If they decide to put it on old coasters like Thunder Run and Iron Dragon, go for it. I don't ride those anyways. I just don't want to see something like a B&M hyper go up, and you're forced to wear headsets. That would just ruin the experience for me.

What's causing the U.S Intamin drought?
coasterkid124 replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I agree with that. In the future, CF will find the need for another record breaking coaster somewhere, and Intamin will be one of the few, if only, companies up for the job. B&M isn't much into experimenting. For the meantime, I expect to see more Wing Coasters, Inverts, and Hypers pop up. They have been what's "hot" for the CF parks. -
Thank you for reminding me why I haven't been to the park in 2 years, despite it being about a 20-25 minute ride away. I love the cute little story town feel of the park, but the operations are horrible, and seems like have gotten worse. The Silver Comet is obviously my main reason to go, but the loading procedure just isn't worth it. In the amount of time it takes to dispatch one train, I used to be able to marathon 6 times. Also, as much of a back seat rider as I am, the only seat on the ride with airtime (besides the first drop) is the front seat. With assigned seating, that is nearly impossible too. They have a few unique rides there, like Mind Warp and Full Tilt, but Crazy Mouse runs like crap and so does the Zamperla swing ride. And they also have been removing a bunch of rides without good replacements. I really don't mean to pick away at the park, but this trip report reminded me of some of the horrible procedures that makes it too aggravating to visit. This is a place where I spent a lot of my childhood, and I would like to see it return that way. Thanks for posting!

DarienLaker has mentioned the park closing probably around a handful of times now. Either he's just being a troll, or he's taking out revenge on the park for removing the "beloved" Cuda Falls. I have no problem with them not having Fright Fest. It was a very small event compared to other parks, and the attractions they did were sort of half-assed. I also have no problem with Premier sticking around a bit longer. They seem committed to rebuilding the older ride collection. I do wish we would get some teasers or an announcement range from the park. It would be interesting to see what their next move is.

The Control Panel Enthusiast Thread
coasterkid124 replied to Montu Maniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can breakdown a few buttons on the console: -5 Blue buttons on top row are block resets but during normal operation they light up solid if a train is present in that particular block. -E-Stop upper left corner (Pretty obvious) -Red indicator on green portion of panel is the "Trouble" light. -2 green buttons on bottom of green portion of panel are dispatch buttons -Black non-illuminated push button in green section is the launch spiel -3-position key switch on red section is main ride power. Position 1: Off 2: On 3: E-Stop Reset (Key can't be left in this position) Ryan, Please correct me if I'm wrong. Yep, those I got, I recognized their similarity with pictures I seen of TTD's panel. Thank you for the clarification. Brings back memories of running/fixing Ride of Steel for me. Although the accelerator coasters are much more complex, all of the Intamin panels seem to have a similar setup.
