Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
coasterkid124 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Valravn's color is really growing on me. I like the coppery-brown color in the shade. -
I've had a bunch of Pink Floyd stuck in my head lately. Just listened to "One of My Turns" and "Another Brick in the Wall".

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
coasterkid124 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I totally agree. Hershey is probably one of the more underrated parks because it isn't part of a big box chain. But they definitely know what they are doing and have developed a park of world class coasters. Wildcat is really the only one there that is sub-par, and it's not horrible. My ONLY complaint ever while visiting Hershey is that there are not many slide attractions in the waterpark. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

If anything, I'm just not a fan of the layout of Wildcat. It really does nothing for me like LR does. The flyer trains are really comfortable as rough as the track is. Layout of a ride is about 100x more important to me than smoothness. Predator at Darien Lake still ranks very high for me, and it has to be one of the roughest coasters on the planet. But the layout is filled with airtime and does a lot. -
Photo TR: Cedar Point Closing Day!

TTD is already looking great. A paint job was very much needed, especially since it is the park's "star" attraction. -
It would make sense that they wrapped the supports if they aren't planning on actually building for a while yet. Especially if the snow ( ) could be coming soon. I'm personally surprised that parts have shown up this early. I thought that they would wait until the week before opening day to start building anything .

Maybe I'm just weird, but I like some of the goofy, bright combinations. Bland colors like gray, white, or black just really turn me off if they are not done right. Nemesis is one of the few coasters that can pull off gray. All black isn't the worst either. I also hate coasters that have super faded colors that don't look like the original, and the parks wait too long to fix it. Nitro and Xcelerator could really use a new coat.

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
coasterkid124 replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best: RoS at Darien Lake or Superman: RoS at SFA. Those bunny hills before the brakes are amazing. Especially the twisty one. Worst: Can't really say. There's a lot of them, but probably Gatekeeper. -
Throwing that much capital into an old stand-up would be crazy. The ride was consistently one of the lowest ranked coasters in polls, and the comfort and ride experience was horrible. Even if ride were salvageable, it wouldn't be worth the costs for repairs, construction, paint, controls, etc. At that price they would get more out of building an entirely new coaster.

I don't tolerate line jumping one bit. I don't feel like the spot saving routine should be allowed, and I hate people who enter restricted areas or hop railings to avoid empty queues. As a former ride op and mechanic, any unruly people attempting to circumvent the line in any way would get a stern warning along the lines of "Do it again and security will escort you out of the park". Sometimes if the situation escalated enough I would call security right off the bat. An example was one time four 20ish year old boys skipped a whole queue in an hour long line to meet up with one friend. According to somebody behind them in line they were taking turns tagging out and doing other things around the park. When they came back they pulled the bathroom excuse. I called security immediately and they were escorted out of the line (and maybe even the park). If you let it slide they will just do it elsewhere in the park and it will cause others an inconvenience. I was a little more tolerant of children, but if their parents were present they got a warning to keep their kids under control. Now as a park visitor, I won't get into verbal or physical confrontations with people, I'll just tell the ride ops when I get into the station. Once in a while I'll attempt to block anyone getting around me, but I definitely do not want to risk getting ejected from the park or my season pass revoked. I just let security or the operators handle that type stuff. Once you enter the queue, you take the unwritten agreement that you stay in line for the duration, or you exit if you need to and go to the end. If you don't use the bathroom or purchase drinks from vending machines, that's on you.

Ferrari World Discussion Thread
coasterkid124 replied to Captain Jack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's all I could think of, but I only count it as like half because of the hodge podge of manufacturers used for different things on the ride. -
I'm not big into the projected simulator rides, and I was a big fan of Twister. But with the movie itself now getting a lot older, and from what I heard lower ridership, it was only a matter of time before Twister was replaced. Also, all those special effects are expensive to create and maintain, whereas projectors and simple vehicles aren't. But it's not like Universal has a huge building that hasn't been used in years or anything. *cough Nick Studios cough*

Dynamic Attractions would be correct. Have any SFX coasters been built yet? I'm drawing a complete blank right now. -
My answer is still Darien Lake, and that's not even a home park bias. Great Escape, SFA, and SFSTL all could use something new and big. Plus, it's not like they don't have the resources or anything. SFA and SFSTL have RMC options, and Great Escape has been looking to remove Bobsleds for years, The smaller Cedar Fair parks should get a big coaster too. The company just wants to invest in the larger properties at the time though.

Avatron Park for Atlanta Confirmed
coasterkid124 replied to edh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
These are very good points. I saw the first movie and I don't really care about the series anymore. And it's only a few years old now. Maybe if a Hunger Games area were a small portion of the park it would work, but I couldn't see them using all the land on just that and having enough ideas to keep it alive. -
That One Ride You Just Can't Enjoy...

Wildcat at Hershey. Rough and boring layout no matter how many shots I give it. I'm not a fan of Huss Condors either. They go too slow for any thrill and are not worth the wait. -

I think that Flying Aces isn't getting enough love on this thread Now that wing trains are confirmed I cannot wait to see the response for this thing. -

Lol, I'm not listening to anyone anymore when it comes to rumors and "confirmations from the manufacturer". Glad to see another one of these wing riders being built. And cable lift hills
