For me, either Wicked Cyclone or Fury. Both were statement makers, and intense, unique experiences. Wicked Cyclone had ejector air and great elements jam packed into one compact space. Fury also had some good airtime, but also kept a good quick pace. It took elements from all the previous gigas and combined them. Great ride.

And during the commercial breaks you will see ads for the spoiled parks like Cedar Point, Dollywood, and Disney just to flaunt their greatness. In all seriousness it's probably for park ads. Before this season, Darien Lake used generic Herschend ads too, but now they are switching to custom ride footage.

^^ There are a lot of flaws in those plans, and I highly doubt the land across from the park is going to be used soon, if ever. Any additions big or small have to go through the planning board. Not only that, but there are permits that have to be filed to ensure that any addition will not harm the environment either. Somebody stated earlier that the land across the street has natural wetlands on it, and that could pose a problem. It took a dozen pages of paperwork just to get Rolling Thunder passed, and that replaced an existing attraction. Plus, I wouldn't call the park landlocked right now. There are still big plots of land in the park that haven't been touched yet. I think land is one of the smaller problems right now. I'll only worry about that once all of the empty plots are filled. The park probably will not be building any more drop tower rides, because it's not needed. Blast Off is fine and always has a long line whenever I pass by it. You cannot exactly market a new attraction that is the exact same as an existing one.

Not to mention the cost it would be to buy the park itself. Hard to imagine a small company like Premier would have the money to buy the park and be able to add large attractions year after year. Here is the assessment of the property from the county, including the sale price of the park in 2007 (SF to CNL). Back then the park sold for almost 82 million dollars, compared to an assessment only of 25 million. It's probably safe to say that today, the park could sell close to 100 million dollars with inflation and expansion of the park. Why is the park worth so much? It is a gold mine. The park is still one of the few theme parks to have a campground, hotel, and PAC on-site. Only a major company would be able to buy the park, then transform it to fit the image that they want it to be. We can only hope and pray that Herschend is still in the mix here. Especially for this: http://www.co.genesee.ny.us/docs/planning/T_08_DAR_8_13.pdf

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I wonder why they even implemented them to begin with. It's not like upstop wheels were a foreign concept at the time. All of the Arrow loopers had them. Were they expecting the coaster to be a really tall mine train or something???? -

Because they made the rides so close together. Yet, walking sometimes feels like a hassle It's not nearly as bad as Busch Gardens, where it takes FOREVER to get to rides. I think Marineland in Canada is the worst for walking. A 30 minute walk to find out the ride you want to go on is closed. -
Okay, this go kart talk is escalating pretty quickly, so I'll just steer this discussion away... ^Lake Monster is on the back burner until the park is sold. CNL isn't going to pay that much for a new attraction, and anybody who operates the park can have any ideas they want, but without money control, they cannot invest in them. The things working in our favor is that Predator is getting older, and will be in need of a major track job (or conversion) soon. I don't mean track job for comfort, I mean it because the last major track work happened almost 10 years ago, and without one, the ride will just keep falling apart.

Normally they are one of the last components to arrive, but they may go on display at the park for Haunt. Put it in front of the construction wall and let it generate some buzz and excitement. -
We are not exactly sure what the 2016 additions are, how do people know what is happening in 2017? It's all rumors. I actually never heard of the Six Flags RMC rumor for 2017 until last week or so. I don't either believe or disbelieve it at this point. We'll have to wait closer till next year. But Alan Schilke did confirm at an Iaapa interview that RMC is indeed booked for 2017 as well. They have been able to do a max of 4 projects per year at this point.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Does anyone actually follow the "Single riders group in the middle of the train" policy either? I've had no problem picking whatever seat I wanted. Even after I was assigned a row on Skyrush, I still went to the back of the train and nobody really cared. -
Pole Position is horrible. Somebody gave me a gift card there for my birthday, and I will never go back. First of all, the wait to get your name called, and the instructional video/setup takes ten times as long as the race itself. It's like I have had a license over 10 years, I don't need Driver's ed again. Then during the race, it is based off of best lap time, and if you get stuck behind someone afraid to drive, you're screwed. The 28$ fee is ridiculous for the short time that the race lasted. I believe there is an extra fee too for a "license" to race there. Were the karts fun? Yes, but not for the high price and long waits. But if they wouldn't charge that, they probably wouldn't either make money (like the closed "Fast Freddies" down the road), or too many people would be trying to race. There are so many more options that Darien could explore with that area, and I wish that a plan would be put into place soon.

^^Beautiful Job!! Will you be making this available for download? I just upgraded my computer and am running NL2 awesomely. -
I haven't seen that many people on the go karts in a couple of years. They used to be a little bit popular, but the whole area back there is dead now. I could imagine how much gas is wasted leaving them idling all day with nobody on them. A big new attraction back there would bring more people not only to the park, but it would liven the area up. Hopefully they would do something with Galaxy Theater too, because it looks like a dump now

Favorite Lighting Package
coasterkid124 replied to LuminousAphid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Germans really know how to run their rides. Their lighting packages and long ride cycles are amazing. If I had to pick one that I have personally seen, Cedar Point's ferris wheel is quite the show. -
One of my friends came up with the title "Worldstar: The Ride" because riding it if you're not tall is basically like being on the wrong end of a beating. I can do SLCs without any real pain, but anyone below 5'8" is in for a very unpleasant time. I don't think it's a height problem as much as it is a SLCs suck in general problem.
