  1. I don't think that there's a thread for this here, so I'll post it. If the 2016 election was today, what candidate would you vote for? Also, what reasons or issues do you agree with them on that justifies your vote? What aspects of their campaign stick out to you and intrigues you to support them? Now, political discussion can bring a lot of potential arguments and conflict, so please try to keep it clean. Please don't attack anybody's views, and back up your own views with facts rather than opinions.
  2. I've stuck to some of my old resolutions pretty well. I've successfully started eating less fattening foods, gave up soda, and manage my money better. Organization and procrastination are two resolutions that I've never been able to conquer no matter how much I attempt it. This year I might also strive to flip out less at people. At least for 1/365 days. Evolution, I'm afraid is beginning to go in reverse.
  3. If B&M inverts still cost 13-15 million dollars like they used to, a lot of parks would love to add one. However, nowadays with most B&Ms well over the 20 million dollar mark, it's a lot less feasible for smaller parks to afford them. Kind of like how everyone would love a sports car like a Corvette, Ferrari, etc. But only the rich or wealthy can really afford them.
  4. You should also ask that question over in the Darien Lake thread. Please don't disrupt the peace. It hasn't been this quiet on that thread in years .
  5. Huss Top Spins don't have as long of a life span as other flat rides do. A lot of them actually have problems that you don't necessarily hear about, but plague the rides and cost parks a lot of money. These include but are not limited to; foundational/structural cracking, faulty air valves, and many parts that wear out (bearings, electrical circuits, etc). Ripsaw, being nearly 20 years old, had a pretty long life for a Top Spin. I don't disagree with the parks decision to remove the ride as cool as it was, but I disagree with removing things without a replacement ready. How can the park remove so many rides so quickly without replacements and expect to do better with attendance? It's even worse that they are flat/family rides which they don't have a lot of to begin with. If Blade is removed as well soon, the only two flats remaining at the park would be Toadstool and the Enterprise (which is another older flat that could end up being removed).
  6. Train rehab (or replacement) and paint are considered average maintenance anyways. Even if Mantis was never transformed to Rougarou, these are things that would have eventually needed to be done regardless. I get why some people count it as "new", but it isn't as significant of an investment as a true new coaster.
  7. The ironic thing is that the CGI was intended to make more of the unrealistic things look better, but I think that it did the opposite. Especially during the battle scenes.
  8. And sorry for the double post but to back up my claim, I did the math and came up with an average of 3 years per coaster going all the way back to 1964. So my claim is pretty relative, especially if you adjust it for inflation. Remember that back then, Cedar Fair was not as large of a chain, and coasters cost a lot less. For instance, Mantis cost 12 million and Magnum cost 8 million. Today, both of these coasters could cost well over 20 million. As for Pipe Scream and Rougarou, you could technically count those as "new coasters" but I didn't to make it fair investment-wise.
  9. We have? 2016 - Valravn 2013 - Gatekeeper 2007 - Maverick 2003 - Top Thrill Dragster 2002 - Wicked Twister 2000 - Millennium Force 1996 - Mantis 1994 - Raptor 1991 - Mean Streak 1989 - Magnum 1987 - Iron Dragon 1985 - Disaster Transport 1978 - Gemini 1976 - Corkscrew 1972 - Jumbo Jet 1969 - Cedar Creek Mine Ride 1964 - Blue Streak Yeah, I see what you mean. Three times in last 50 years two coasters were added 4 years apart. That's gotta be a pattern. I was mistaken that Gatekeeper opened in 2013 instead of 2012. Plus I'm talking on an average scale rather than exact numbers. Hershey has been adding coasters in the same relative time frame for many years. I don't think we need to go all the way back to Blue Streak on the timeline because many factors have caused this recent shift to happen. CF has acquired many parks since then, plus the economy and price of coasters were very different back then. Maybe it's my fault for not elaborating more, but I don't think the sarcasm was necessary. I'm just trying to justify reasoning for a possible new coaster in 2020, and that just because it's an anniversary year means squat.
  10. He makes Coaster Studios look like a trusted industry source. I am just slowly starting to give up with the human race in general.
  11. Got to see Star Wars last week and here's my review... Warning: There aren't any explicit spoilers in here, but some aspects of the plot are discussed and may be viewed as a borderline spoiler. Overall, I think the movie was great. It was a giant push in the right direction after the prequel trilogy. However, I don't think that it was mind blowing epic like some critics have reviewed. The new characters were really good. I'm not too sure how to feel about Rey yet, but Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren were great. I don't think that BB8 will live up to R2's likeability but he surely is charming and cool. I was hoping to see more of Poe, he reminds me a lot of Han Solo and leaves a lot of potential. I hope he ends up being more of a major character rather than a minor one. Kylo Ren was also very intimidating, maybe more so than Vader. there were parts where I was startled and sort of jumped in my seat. The fight scenes were good, but I hope Disney isn't trying to turn this into a love story. There were some parts that were a little drawn out but nothing was overly mushy or bad. The plot was predictable too. It adopted a lot from the previous movies, and even early in the movie I could tell how it would end. These were really the only downsides overall. I think that this movie sets up Episode 8 really well, and I will probably see it again in theaters.
  12. I like the choice of rides in the new DC area. The naming was predictable, but the type of rides weren't. A swinging suspended Batman is really unique and fits the theme well. Batman and the Pipeline coaster will probably cause more problems with reliability, but it gives the story more fuel. I like it, nice work.
  13. x100 One of the little issues that I had with RCT3 was a common ride found in a lot of parks with a horrible theme or unchangeable colors. For instance you couldn't get a normal Frisbee ride, they only had the TNT one. Or the Pirate Ship being so bulky and overthemed. I would be fine with all generic rides, and then just sprucing them up with scenery afterwards.
  14. A rumor is still a rumor, no matter where it came from. I'm sure most park GMs want something in particular, but plans change and they don't always get the budget that they expected. I'm not trying to discredit anyone or be a negative nancy, it's just that 2018 is still a while away, and I don't believe anything anymore unless I have conclusive proof. I hope I'm wrong though, I think it would be a good fit for the park.
  15. All I have to say is once Star Wars Land opens, I am throwing all of my money at Disney.
  16. It's more about the pattern they've been going by instead of an anniversary year. We've seen new coasters added 4 years apart now. It's a combo of return investment, and the need to give other parks in the chain major attractions. CF plans this stuff years in advance and they probably overlook anniversaries until they actually come closer. Not that CP wouldn't add something large for that year anyways, but parks also take years off for anniversaries too. Look at King's Dominion. For their "40th anniversary celebration" in 2014, they went for refurbishments and brought back some nostalgic features instead of adding a large attraction. It was the next year that the Soak City expansion came (even though this was the true anniversary year).
  17. Yup, they trained a real shark to jump at the boat every time it passed by. Over a million sharks were killed by the harpoon. Some people just need to be institutionalized. I would be all for a return of the Jaws ride though. Even though there's a better chance of me waking up next to a supermodel tomorrow morning. At least we can dream...
  18. We haven't even begun the 2016 season yet. It's far too early for 2018 speculation. I would be happy to see one of the smaller parks get a new coaster, but I'll believe it when I see it. If every stray Screamscape rumor out there came true, there would be a lot of happy people.
  19. The original three movies were by far the best. I like them in order by which they were shown starting with A New Hope. It was easiest to follow and had a really good storyline. Empire was also good. I liked the battle scenes, and all of the little plot surprises. RotJ was very good, but some parts were drawn out, and I felt that so much was thrown at you that it was a little hard to follow. Still a phenomenal movie, some scenes could just be reconfigured.
  20. I had the ending/major plot point ruined for me... I hate people who give spoilers online without labeling them as spoilers. I hope that karma is a ***** and gets them back hard for ruining the movie for many people. Although the ending was ruined for me, I'm still hoping for some other surprises.
  21. I want to ride Nemesis so bad. I would be to the UK in a minute, but I don't do planes. It's probably the highest coaster on my list of "want to ride", even above brand new coasters right here in the US.
  22. Raptor at CP in the late 90s. My first was supposed to be a Batman @ Great Adventure, but my family decided to go to CP instead.
  23. That made my day. Love the evil claw at the end.
  24. I think that this game will end up being one of the best coaster games on the market. It combines an easy interface with full customization and possibilities. On one end of the spectrum, NL2 and TPS are highly customizable, but hard to learn and perfect the skills. Plus TPS still isn't complete and not everything that the developers had promised it to be. Then there's Parkitect (Spelling??) and RCTW that are too simple or cartoony and you cannot customize much. PLC seems like the perfect balance between the two, and I think I'll end up purchasing it once it's out.
