  1. All structures are designed to sway a bit. So it's likely normal. Just look at Wicked Twister. A lot of people say the same thing about those and they were designed to sway. If steel doesn't have a bit of give, it would snap.
  2. And it isn't just rides that they have to use budget on. The park has to landscape, pave midways, pay inspectors, etc. The list is almost endless. It's not like they can go over budget, as they are not the ones with the money. CNL is, and they have final say on everything. The park is far from being cheap; Premier is doing everything in its power to make the park a better place. If anything, they are more committed and doing a better job than Herschend. There are reasons why DarienLaker's pipe dreams of Cuda Falls to return and a Pandemonium clone in the park will never come true, and that's because those ideas are not feasible and won't work. Nobody liked Cuda Falls anymore, and it was a black hole in terms of money. Plus, with a new train on RoS, it's going to take a while to get it broken in and working correctly. It's not Knex. You can't just pop new parts in and expect it to work right. The PLC needs to be updated, the trains need to be adjusted, and the park wants to get feedback of how well it works. I know that Six Flags got it working quickly with Bizarro, but that is a much more demanding park in terms of attendance, and those trains have gotten bad and receive a lot of complaints. Premier wants to do the job right, even if it takes 2 years to get two trains running.
  3. That's odd. I don't see how they could fit in another car, as there isn't room to expand the gates or station. I bet it's a typo. I'm not really a fan of the rainbow colors, but I'm not going to whine about it like it's Valravn . The article states that they will be translucent, so the "see-through" element should be pretty cool. I just cant wait to see how RoS rides. It should be a huge improvement over how sluggish it was running last season.
  4. ^^I apologize that I'm not obsessed with every little move that they make on this coaster. If I was, I would just watch the webcam. I couldn't care less about a boat in the dock and am sick of people complaining when my home park hasn't received a big coaster in 17 years now. If people don't like it, they don't have to ride and it will make the line shorter for me when I'm enjoying it.
  5. I'll gladly take Valravn at my home park too, considering everyone is b*tching that it's going to suck and the boat is the most kick ass, orgasmic attraction ever.
  6. ^I don't even think Magic Kingdom has cracked the 20 million barrier, and if they did it was by a smidge. Great Adventure has been averaging 2+ million, so either it was a typo, or the kid has no clue what he's been talking about.
  7. Hopefully they go through with adding the rusty effect to the entire track. It's one of those little features that made Nemesis so special. The white is so bland and doesn't fit the ride IMO. I do wish they would repaint Galactica a light green color or different color to fit the space theme. It doesn't even seem like they're committed to replace the trains, and just slapping on headsets.
  8. I don't necessarily feel bad for them. First off, they were trespassing. Second, why would two teenage girls go into a place like that with no protection? They are lucky that they didn't get hurt and weren't prosecuted for the crime. I guess that the police thought that they've been through enough.
  9. It's to my understanding that Batman is only sitting in that field because it's an "asset" and it is worth a little something. There probably weren't any plans to assemble it at Darien Lake, or anywhere, but Six Flags sold the park before anything could be done. I've also heard from close sources that it was potentially damaged when removed from Astroworld. Darien hasn't used the ride for anything besides for Halloween displays, where they put spider webs and skeletons in the cars. Seeing that DL could be sold soon, as it's parent company is liquidating their properties, they won't scrap Batman because it is worth something. They also put an older slide complex in the same field after they removed it, likely for the same reason. With DL being my home park, I am happy that they decided against trying to build it. It was a bad ride while in operation, even when it was new. And with the coaster drought we've been in, I would rather see the park go with another coaster that would last longer and be a better ride.
  10. ? "Worlds First Step Up Under Flip" "Tallest Inversion in the World" "Most Inversions on a ____ coaster" "First Ever -insert element here- on a _____ coaster" Inversions aren't for everyone. A lot of people are afraid of them. But you can market coasters as a lot of things with inversions.
  11. The Twisters added by SF in the 90s have all had issues lately. Darien Lake's was down nearly all year last season. And with SFNE's being removed not too long ago, It would be a good bet that this one could be too.
  12. The way that RMC creates their wooden coasters really changed the way a lot of people viewed them. RMC was able to turn rough, boring coasters into smooth thrill machines with unique elements that we don't even see on a lot of steel coasters. I hope they can do the same with the T-Rex and Raptor models. Inverting steel coasters are very "gimmicky" and rarely forceful. Parks use inversions to market coasters better. Hopefully RMC will add some snap and force into the inversions, like older school B&Ms. I really can't wait to see a park build one. RMC could once again change the industry with this product.
  13. I didn't say "multiple coasters" I said "multiple additions". That can be anything. Flats, restaurants, shops, etc. I get that they theme better than most chains, and extensively. But it's kind of hard to do if they plan on building something large, such as a hyper or invert. People won't really notice theming if they are zooming by at 50+ mph. It's the same reason why Herschend hasn't been able to do much with Outlaw Run, Wild Eagle, or Lightning Rod. They can spruce up the station, add a pre-show, and make a nice little plaza, but not much else. I could very well be wrong, we're still a year away here, but I expect 2017 to consist of one big thing, surrounded by a new or refurbished plaza.
  14. I'm a bit skeptical about that number. 35-40 million even blows Fury 325 out of the water. I think for that cost it would have to be multiple large additions with a coaster (probably B&M) being the centerpiece. I do believe that next year will be big though, and I hope that it's something very impressive.
  15. Yeah, it's definitely not a good arrangement. The best way to manage a park is a single owner and operator making all decisions. Premier is very limited in what they can do. I think that they've done a great job with the properties that they have, but they cannot be a long term solution. They would have major trouble when it comes to not only purchasing properties, but also putting in major additions. CNL is very stingy when it comes to money, which is why Herschend left Darien Lake a couple of seasons ago. They wanted to rebuild the ark, but didn't have the budget to. It's a reason why RMC Predator never came to fruition. Unless they had full control over the park, they wanted no part in it anymore.
  16. RMC stated in an interview somewhere that they are already booked for 2017, so this is a big possibility. I'm already excited and the 2016 season hasn't even begun. This is going to be hard to wait for all this time.
  17. Another musician is gone... This time it's Paul Kantner, a guitarist and founding member of Jefferson Airplane/Starship. When will the madness end?
  18. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Flags_AstroWorld There's a list near the bottom that lists most of the major rides. Any other ones that aren't there likely were scrapped as well.
  19. ^Yep, I know that. I'm just trying to correlate this move with that one. Blast Off has been very popular at DL and CNL is probably looking to add more at their other properties.
  20. Screamscape actually changed that again today (for the third time) and is reporting that Wild Thang truly is leaving. It's sad to see that their reliability has gone down through the past few years. I remember when that site was pretty legit and the rumors were plausible, not fanboy garbage. CNL will likely keep the Space Shot in the chain. They did the same thing a few years ago when they moved one to Darien Lake. It's still a very popular attraction, but capacity is a big issue. Waits are rarely lower than 45 minutes, making it the longest or one of the longest in the park.
  21. I hope so. It's just that these rides have had a history of problems, new or used, and I don't want to see a park remove a workhorse ride for a problematic one.
  22. Darien Lake season passes are an every year tradition for me since I was young. This year, I think that I'll do a Cedar Fair Platinum pass due to my travels last year, and it is much more worth it. I won't be getting any Six Flags passes until they give me a reason to come back
  23. Never knew that SFDK looked so nice. Hopefully the new restaurants work out well, it seems like they have some potential. I'll have to definitely get out to this park once I do another Cali trip.
  24. I'm happy to see Darien Lake get some attention for New York's pick, but Rolling Thunder?? Seriously? Not like we have the tallest and fastest coaster in New York in the same park or anything like that. I don't have a problem with the Larson Loops, I just feel like they are overproduced at this point and are getting way too much unnecessary attention.
