  1. Well it was the season finale, so maybe if SF was lucky 15-18 fans were there Actually, I don't really have anything against the Devils. They ended up having a good year.
  2. Just in pre-planning mode for a trip soon. I really couldn't crunch more than 1 day at CP this year due to my other trips and time off from work. I'm looking for a trip around the 26th of May. Would I be able to get most of the good rides some without a Fast Pass, or would it be smart to opt for one? Valravn will be the biggest reason for my trip, but I would also like to hit Maverick, MF, etc. I'm guessing that it would be best to try and hit Maverick as soon as it opens, correct?
  3. It might be a little too late for them to re-theme it. It's been known as Ride of Steel for 10 years now, and most people still call it Superman. I would love to see them do something with the name, but at this point, what would the park get out of it? I would rather just see them put more money into trains and a paint job soon. It can always be a pipe dream though, right?
  4. I'm not trying to defend the VR in any way, but did you know that there was a focus knob on the headset? That could explain the blurry graphics. I'll probably try the VR a few times, but I can't see myself wearing it every time I ride. If I wanted a virtual environment, I would just stay home and play PS4.
  5. There have been MANY rumors over the past few years of the park working with RMC ranging from modifying one of their current coasters to something ground-up. I'll believe it only when we see teasers or any construction. It could be inevitable that sooner or later they collaborate for something, but it's really hard for me to go off of a rumor from someplace I've never heard of.
  6. I was actually thinking the same thing. We all were expecting something significantly different than this, which isn't a bad thing at all. I think it's a total possibility that this could have been a rebuild, which isn't a bad thing. The more money the park saves means the more they an put into other projects like paint and upkeep. It's probably still a pipe dream that the park considers 2 trains this year, despite the similarities of the trains. But the chance may have grown now that these trains are still basically first generation. Either way, I just can't wait too see how this thing rides, and for operations to start getting back to normal.
  7. Dragon Mountian at Marineland. It's a huge cave that's so dark inside you'll walk into the walls if you're not careful. I'm surprised it's allowed to be that dark.
  8. What's up with the red fetish? First T3, now this. Trains look good though. Sometimes the simplistic designs look best.
  9. I can't wait to see the people who say stuff like "I had this vacation planned for four months, and now its ruined. You made my kids cry you backwoods antichrists!"; then come back and ride it and say "Best coaster ever!!! I'm coming back to ride it every year!"
  10. I'm guessing that it was probably cheaper for RMC to go with Velocity Magnets because of their previous relationship, and because they provided the brakes for the ride. But it was a pretty big risk to go with them when they've apparently never done a launch before. Of course Dollywood and RMC are going to blame this on being a "prototype" and all, but in reality they kind of have themselves to blame because LSM launches and Topper Track woodies have been working successfully for a while now. It was pretty much inevitable that sooner or later, they would have been put together. I personally am not blaming anyone for this delay, but you have to wonder why RMC just didn't choose Intrasys for the LSMs. Maybe it would have cost more, but they've been successfully producing launches for pretty much all manufacturers for years now.
  11. Well anything that is 46"+ is pretty tall to market as a family addition, so I don't agree with you there. 38" is even tall for a kiddie coaster. Also, they may have added a couple of coasters now, but they aren't major investments. I don't have a problem with Tempesto; I like the Premier Sky Rockets. But I have to admit that I was expecting something larger this time.
  12. This may have been asked brfore, but are KD and Busch Gardens offering a joint ticket for both parks again this year?
  13. Even Gravity Group is building coasters that appeal to families. I believe that Wooden Warrior and Switchback have a 42" height requirement if the child is accompanied by an adult. So there are two examples of coasters that can be fun or thrilling and still cater to families.
  14. It looks like from this article, the height requirement will be 46": Source: http://pilotonline.com/entertainment/new-roller-coaster-coming-to-busch-gardens---and/article_7bea759c-b347-5173-9f6f-f2359a8f7da7.html I don't know. 46" is better than 48", but that's still a taller height than most family coasters. Some may argue that 4" is not a lot, but in growing children, it is. It might take a couple of years for someone to grow from 42 to 46. Maybe it will be a great ride, but right now it's hard to say what it really will be. It's not exactly a family ride, but with those stats, and GCI building it, it isn't really a thrill ride either.
  15. Which ones have you been on? Thunderhead and American Thunder are the only other ones that I like. They are fun coasters, but don't do too much for me. I'm just not a fan of twisters in general, but these were decent. Apocalypse, Gwazi, Wildcat, and Roar were all either rough, had boring layouts, or a combo of the two. I might be missing one but out of the 7-8 that I've ridden, less than half of them are ones that I would re-ride. I know that GCI has improved their standards and quality, but their twister layouts are still mostly bad to me. They butcher first drops too by curving them.
  16. Well, I would take this over a spinner, but I'm not overly impressed. Lightning Run is the only GCI coaster that I really like, the rest range from bad to meh for me. I don't necessarily think that this is a bad move for the park, but there are better options. With Tempesto being on the cheaper side, I was expecting something bigger this time around. Plus, a lot of people are already saying "Wow, 9 airtime hills!", but are these going to be Lightning Run style semi-ejector hills, airtime hills into curves that don't do anything, or something in-between? I'll give GCI the benefit of the doubt here and at least see the layout, but I won't get too excited considering their history. I was planning to return to the park soon, and was debating pushing the trip back a year if something big was being built, but after seeing this, I'll likely visit this year instead. If this is the traditional GCI, I won't be missing too much, and that's okay with me.
  17. The train isn't exactly 2nd gen because it doesn't have the zero car, but oh my god it looks wonderful. And those restraints! No more scraping or compression on my legs!
  18. Those trains look really sharp. Hopefully our train will be similar. Hopefully they opt for different colors or design too. This is a great opportunity to boot the generic Ride of Steel theme. If they keep the name, the least they can do is theme it a bit better.
  19. I think your assumption is backwards. Those crates are big enough to hold a couple of coaster cars, which come mostly assembled from the manufacturer. Water slide parts come on trucks and not in crates, which parts usually cannot fit in anyways. If each crate has 2 cars and there are 4 crates, that would be a full train.
  20. It's a trap. It's actually the shipment of souvenir mugs for season pass holders. In all honesty, this is the thing I've been waiting most for this season and can't wait to see how they look and ride.
  21. My thoughts exactly. It looked to work really well on a small coaster like DDD, but I probably wouldn't do it on Superman more than a few times. I'm excited to give it a try, but I'll be selective on which coasters I'll use it on.
  22. This is good to hear. Even with the improvements in 2013(?), the show has been kind of beat for a while. The effects were over exaggerated and the show really didn't change a whole lot. If they are committed to keeping the show for a while, the park should try to upgrade it whenever they can. Hopefully they'll change up the soundtrack to include some more music for all ages, not just the new junk. Also, they could use some of the new effects a little more. What was described as a "100 foot water screen" ended up being 1-2 splashes of water during the show.
  23. It's funny that there are only pop/hip hop stars on a ride called Rock & Roll
  24. That whole area could use an upgrade for Darien Lake. It's been rethemed 3 times already, and with each change, the rides got ripped apart a little more leaving holes and ripped up paint. It went from Popeye, to Looney Tunes, to Adventure Isle, to Beaver Bros Bay. It's a shame because it used to be nice area, and ironically during the SF era.
  25. I don't see myself doing this more than a few times because VR has made me sick before. I don't care if SF does this, but it becomes a problem when it begins to affect other riders. Slower dispatches and assigned seating are two examples of this. We won't know this for sure until it actually goes into affect, but if these are consequences of it, I'm against it for the time being.
