  1. I enjoy coasters from both manufacturers but I voted for B&M. It just comes down to the fact that there are several more B&Ms that I consider my top coasters and just plain do it for me than Intamins. I'll take the ride of a majority of B&M loopers over many of the Intamin impulse/halfpipe/rockets that I've ridden. The hypers are kind of a draw but I will say that the Intamins probably get the edge on being thrilling. I'd like to see more built here in the states. I do believe that B&M is still capable of making a interesting ride though. While Hydra doesn't look like a flat out winner I must say that Sheikra sure does.
  2. I'd have to go with The Ozark Wildcat ( I like it more than Thunderhead) and The Legend. The Legend gets respect as a good coaster but not a top coaster. I don't know if maybe it's too aggressive for many people to call it a top coaster but I love it. Also, the Tornado and Outlaw at Adventureland are both very good rides but you rarely hear anything about them (probably because it's more of an out of the way park).
  3. I would have to say both Acro and Deja Vue on my first trip to SFOG. Acro was only the second drop ride that I had ever been on and I almost backed out of doing it. Of course the anticipation was a lot worse than the actual drop. And then the first time I was pulled up the spike on Deja Vue, I about crapped myself. I had only just ridden my first coaster three months before and up to that point the most thrilling thing I had ever been on was a B&M invert. This was totally a different beast. Totally made the 1 1/2 hours I waited for it worth it.
  4. I think that the ride looks pretty good and while I think that it's cool that the person got the footage, I have to agree that that it was pretty terrible. The least you can do is get a mental layout of the ride so that you can try and follow it with the camera. It appeared as though they had no idea as to what which way the coaster was going. They at least did a better job with the part that had sound.
  5. Looks like a very fun ride! So are those water jets that shoot up at the riders going to be standard or is that part of some custom theming?
  6. Just curious for Rob or whoever has ridden both, just what are the basic differences that make the USF version of Mummy better than the USH one? I've often heard that the Florida one is better (and I love it) but was just wondering what the deal was with the California version.
  7. I thought that it was a very good ride, with tons of airtime, and has to be thee smoothest woodie I've ever been on. Unfortunately, it's this unnatural woodie smoothness that keeps it from being a top coaster for me. I just like my favs to have a little bit of roughness to them that's gives them that special spark. Heh, that's just me though. Still it's very good.
  8. Sweet, I had no idea that this was going to be opening so soon in the spring. Hmm, looks like a little early May trip down to Florida to try out this and Sheikra might in the cards after all.
  9. Allright, I'll bite. I would definitley say that my wood list is more set in stone than the steel one, which is constantly changing. Top Ten Wood 1. The Legend (Holiday World) 2. The Phoenix 3. Rampage 4. Boulderdash 5. Raven 6. Ozark Wildcat 7. Thunderbolt (Kennywood) 8. Thunderhead 9. Shivering Timbers 10. Ghostrider Top Ten Steel 1. Phantom's Revenge 2. Superman ROS: SFNE 3. The Incredible Hulk 4. Apollo's Chariot 5. Montu 6. Nitro 7. Kumba 8. Wildfire 9. Kraken 10. X
  10. Not a fan of the G-trains and definitley not a fan of RWB. When I rode it back in 2003, it was literally the only time I've ever prayed for a ride to end. As a matter, I think I received a mild concussion from a twin G-train dosage of both Villian and RWB. I guess now the park can deliver double the punishment to it's guests. Sorry for the drama, but the day from a physical perspective was about the worse I've ever had in a park. So, for anyone that rode the Legend in it's first two years, how did it run? I'm curious if the park got rid of it because of the ride it gave or because of possible maintanence concerns.
  11. Got stuck once a couple of years ago, on the lift of Top Gun at Carowinds for about a half hour. Really wasn't that big of a deal although it did start getting cold as the sun went down. They eventually evaced us down the lift and gave us exit passes for our troubles.
  12. Yeesh, are you kidding me? They've allready painted the top ofit? Wow, they aren't kidding when you hear about the locals complaining about the park. I think the coaster looks good and can't wait to ride it during our first UK trip next year.
  13. I agree. We were at the park at couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. While it may not be as packed as full of attractions as some others park, we thought it worked great as a "chill out" park. We enjoyed just sitting around in some areas and sucking up the atmosphere. Wether or not being a nice place to hang out for the day is worth the $60 to get in may be debatable. Having Expedition Everest should definitely help out with ride quotient though. Also, I don't think Dinosaur is dull or dated. It definitley gave us a thrill, even after riding it a few times. I'd save words like that for Star Tours
  14. One I definitely plan on getting to this year. http://www.rcdb.com/ig2412.htm?picture=2
  15. With apologies to the guy who started this thread , I would say that the park that most recently let us down was our Labor Day trip last year to Canobie Lake Park. We were looking forward to a pleasant couple of hours at the park and just didn't get it. The Cannonball had a huge wait all morning due to a one train operation, the Rockin' Rider was down (although I guess now it's officially SBNO), and we just got a real sense of unfriendlieness from the people working there. Most importantly though, the one ride I was most looking forward to, The Mine of Lost Souls (I'm a big Sally fan), was down as well. The park just didn't do it for us. We chalked it up though to just being a bad park day. We'll hopefully give it another shot sometime down the line.
  16. 1. Tower of Terror (WDW) 2. Mission Space (WDW) 3. California Screamin' (DCA)
  17. I'm thinking the last couple of years we got our HHN tickets with our annual passes, the price was in the $30 vicinity.
  18. Hersheypark. Always was, always will be. Even when I lived in South Carolina, I considered it my home park. It's only a little over 30 minutes from where I'm at now. When we move to Baltimore, I guess geographically, SFA will be. I'll be at Hersheypark more though.
  19. I don't know if I'd call it the worst ride, from a ride standpoint, but I have to agree that the themeing on Primeval Whirl and the Dinoland in general is just embarrassing. It just seems so beneath Disney's usual standards, especially in the Animal Kingdom, probably the best themed WDW park. I have to mention Star Tours as well. Not that it necessarily sucks but that it's getting really dated. Can't they do some kind of update on this thing?
  20. Hmmm, we've never stayed on property at WDW before. You guys are starting to change my mind. These places look pretty nice
  21. Hi everyone, I'm Heath. I also, post over at Coasterbuzz under the name Pale Rider when I'm partaking in more *ahem* serious coaster talk. I've recently moved back here to Pennsylvania, after having lived in South Carolina for over 6 1/2 years. My wife and I are living with my parents here in York, PA for a short time until I get a job in Baltimore, MD. She is allready working there, so as soon as I get some work, we will be relocating to the area. We're really looking forward to once again living in a hub of park activity here in the northeast. Hopefully we will see some of you out on the midways this summer.
  22. The most I've ridden in a day is Rampage, 30+ times at each of the last 2 RRRs durign ERT. I could literally ride that coaster all night. Also rode Shivering Timbers around 30 times on the Friday of Timbersfest last year, although that was more because we were so bored with the rest of the park.
  23. - 30 years old this past weekend. First coaster was The Rock N' Roller Coaster at Disney/MGM in May of 2002 after many, many years of coasterphobia. Been going strong ever since.
  24. Please change mine to "The Man With No Name". Thanks!
