  1. Yep, Strickler's is only open to the public on July 4th, the first Sunday in August (Family Day) and then at least last year it was open the first Sunday in October. If you check some other coaster forums, there are TRs of the park out there if your really interested in how it is. Definitely some tough credits to get. I'm planning on trying to get them during the Family Day this August. I'm probably going to combine it with a PKI/Wyandot Lake/Holiday World trip.
  2. First drop on Rampage, Raven, Legend, Ghostrider, and Boulderdash. That's just good stuff.
  3. I went with Great America. I was very impressed with it's overall neatness and theming, especially in the western area. Now if they could only do something about those crowds. SFOG is close behind though.
  4. The Media Day is scheduled for May 19/20. That's the only date I've heard so far. Wether or not it's going to have a soft opening before that, I'm not sure.
  5. Wow, that is short. Short but SWEET! Nice video too.
  6. I voted for the one at SFOG because I think it has the best queue and gave me the most intense rides of the six I've ridden. After that I'd go with the one at SFGAm because of the location and the old school theming on the back of the seats that I don't think was carried over onto the other clones.
  7. I still think that ride looks like a lot of fun. That launch into the turn and airtime hill combo sounds like a blast. I guess if they want to try out other layouts that don't involve the tophat, you have to start somewhere.
  8. I went with Montu. There are lots of awesome inverts I'd love to call my favorite but Montu just does it for me. Batwing in the backseat. Awesome.
  9. Yeah, they'll probably both debut around the same time. Gotta love cross-promotion, right?
  10. I think that pic was from when they were filming actual episodes of Fear Factor at USF back earlier in the winter.
  11. Like Ted said, try to do both. If you can absolutlely only do one, it would depend for me on if Space Mountain was open yet. If is isn't, I'd do Knotts and hit up Disneyland next time when Space Mountain is open.
  12. The website says Spring 2005 but I thought I remembered reading somewhere when the announcement was first made that it would most likely be May. Could be a little earlier. Maybe someone else on here has heard something more specific.

  14. My first coaster of the year was the Hulk at IOA back in February. My first coaster of the new season will be either be The Loch Ness Monster at BGW or Volcano at PKD next weekend. Haven't decided which park I'm going to do first yet.
  15. From RCDB: "Primeval Whirl is really two distinct roller coaster placed side by side. Since they are completely independent of each other two entries exist in the database." I've ridden both sides of Space Mountain but didn't pay enough attention to just how the two layouts are set up or connected in any way. I can definitely see though how you could consider Primevil Whirl two coasters though. It would be no different then if any park had two wild mouse rides sitting next to each other in a field. They are two distinct coasters and all they share is a name and a queue area. That's it.
  16. Ah, I stand corrected. I completely forgot about the Vekoma models. You could argue that new suspended coasters are still being built though. After the intensity of the inverted coasters came on the scene, the more gentle nature of the suspended coasters were toned down even more and evolved into the more family friendly setpoint coasters and batflyers that are still being built today.
  17. I'd love to see another one as well but it's not going to happen. Ever since B&M perfected the whole inverting while suspended under the track thing, the industry never looked back. Hmm, first inverted coaster, 1992. Last suspended coaster, 1993. Coincidence? I would like to see another retrofit of the trains like Vampire at Chessington. Cedar Point should seriously look at doing this for Iron Dragon. Anything to make that poor coaster a little more exciting.
  18. These are fun. I've ridden the Zoomerang at Waterwold and it was one of the better types of new slides out there. First time in 8 years that they've added at new slide to the park? Well better late than never.
  19. Pretty cool vid. It kind of gave me a new appreciation of just how much work goes into constructing a ride of this magnitude.
  20. What's up the The Great Gasp Brian? Is there talk of it going bye bye after this season or something?
  21. For me it's Legend hands down, my favorite woodie. It's the only coaster that I get off of and feel like I've just been put through a workout. Chalk me up as another one that just didn't "get" Cornball. Rode it front and back and thought that it was just allright. I'm willing to give it another chance this summer though.
  22. I went with the batwing. I wish that more B&Ms than just 2 had one. My first back seat ride on Montu through that inversion gave me the single greatest dose of positive Gs that I have ever experienced on a coaster.
  23. It seems like they are obviously marketing the fact that it's from Australia. Not really a bad move when you think about it. It helps add to the "mystic" of the new ride. "Look Ma! It's from another country!"
  24. My favorite would have to the Cyclone. That back seat is wild. I'm also a big fan of the Scorcher. I love that compact layout.
