Worst Coaster Experience
DanM64 replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Superman: Ultimate Escape at Geauga Lake did have a retractable floor. I assume it was eliminated on the other impulse coasters to cut down on costs of construction and maintenence. Does it still have a retractable floor after being relocated to Dorney? My worst coaster experience by far was Hades in 2012. My girlfriend and I both had very sore backs for a day or 2 after roding, and we're VERY tolerant of rough wooden coasters- we both actually like Mean Streak and Wildcat at HP. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
DanM64 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I never said I did care. The ONLY reason I looked at the tire kickers on Saturday is because of this thread, had it not been brought of that it was supposedly noisy I would've never looked at them at all. As I said in my last post, I thought Raptor ran great, and I didn't think it made any more noise than any other B&M invert. I always forget how forceful parts of Raptor are, my only complaint is that parts of it could use a paint job, but it's no big deal, since it runs just fine! -
LOL! I just finished installing it to my 360, time to get my virtual coaster credit! My Xbox gamertag is DanM64 for anyone who wants to play once they launch online multiplayer. BTW- The coaster is called "The Leviathan"

I noticed on Saturday one of the kickers on the transfer track didn't spin under its own power when the others did, but it would spin freely as a train passed through it, though, so it wasn't seized. I didn't ride Raptor Friday night. There was a pretty strong head wind (which gave me a TTD rollback!!) on Friday, I'm not surprised at all that Raptor was running a bit sluggish. I did ride Saturday, and it was running great! I always forget how good it is, it's my 2nd favorite invert behind Montu. Despite the malfunctioning kicker, in my opinion Raptor didn't sound any different than SFGAm's Batman sounded when I rode it 2 months ago, they sounded exactly the same to me. -

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
DanM64 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maverick at Cedar Point, in the last row, at 12:05am. Fantastic, as it always is!! Maverick is the best at night. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
DanM64 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After getting off of Mean Streak, the train was pulling into the station, so the gates getting across the midway were down. Upon the train pull8ng into the station and stopping, the lady in front of me took one look at the steam engine, tuen leaned over to her husband and told him- "We're not riding that train. It's unsafe! Look at it, it's overheating!!" I thought she was joking, until her husband started making fun of her. Lol! EDIT- Corrected my horrible attempt at typing! Don't drink and post . -

I got off work too late to make tye drive and make it in time for the event, but I did get to the park about 6:30 last night. What a great night! The lines were almost non-existant, towards the end of the night EVERY coaster only had a station wait! I got my GateKeeper credit, and it was about what I expected it to be. I don't really care for B&M Wing coasters, I'd rate GK higher than Wild Eagle, but not as high as X Flight. Honestly I can't wait for this fad to be over, at least until they come up with some 4-D trains or something. I sat in the last row on the outside right wing, and it was pretty rattle-y and forceless. I did have an unlocked vest at least. The highlight of the night was my rollback on Dragster! I rolled back once 4 years ago after a rain, but I was in the middle of the train, and we only made it up to the twist for the top hat. Last night my rollback was in the front row, and I made it completely over the top hat before rolling back. It was great! We nearly rolled back on the second launch, too! Maverick was running insane- the best coaster in the park by a long shot, and I felt it was actually smoother than it was the last time I visited in 2011. Millenium Force ran great the first time, my other 2 rides on it were slightly less exciting. Magnum also ran better than I remember. I'll be in the park until closing today, in fact I'm writing this from McDonald's on the causeway . I'm going to try GK's left wing today since I liked the left better on X Flight, so we'll see! -
^Just about every ride- with the exception of the Southwest Territory and Mardi Gras- no longer fits the themed areas of the park. As long as Goliath kicks ass, I honestly don't really care, and I actually feel Goliath IS an appropriate name for the new coaster. If the largest drop and fastest overall wooden coaster isn't "Goliath", then I don't know what is!

DanM64 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I agree. I like TTD the best, followed by Maverick and then Millenium Force. I understand why people don't rank TTD higher, I agree that it is really a "one trick pony", but I just can't get enough of that launch (or Kingda Ka's, which I think is even better!) I'm glad to hear that GateKeeper seems to be running better. I didn't have a problem with the vests tightening on Wild Eagle or X Flight myself, but I wonder if they will be modified as well. Honestly I'm not expecting much out of GateKeeper other than getting the credit, but I'll find out soon, since I'll be going to CP Friday and Saturday. I do think it's sort of funny that when GateKeeper's vests were uncomfortable and then modified everyone is fine with it- as they should be, but when Skyrush's lapbars were modified, Intamin was the worst manufacturer in the industry according to some (I only rode with Skyrush's original restraints and I didn't find them to be bad). I'm only pointing this out to show that ALL manufacturers sometimes have to make adjustments to new products. It's perfectly normal. -

^This. And birch beer! I love birch beer. -
Phoenix at Knoebels by far #1, with Kennywood's Thunderbolt #2, and CP's Blue Streak #3.

What is your next park?

Cedar Point next weekend. Hopefully the weather is good, crowds are light, and nothing is down! -
Best American B&M Inverted coaster
DanM64 replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Montu, with Raptor very close behind! After that I'd say Batman, then DD Fire, and finally DD Ice to round out my top 5. -
What is the best floorless?
DanM64 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only floorless I've ever been on were Kraken and Bizarro just after it was converted from Medusa. I thought Kraken was a far better coaster. I rode SheiKra when it still had the original trains, if I ever ride it with the floorless trains, then I would say it is best. -
Best View From A Lift Hill
DanM64 replied to bubala's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Millenium Force and Mean Streak both have awesome lift hills. Wild Eagle's was great, too, probably the only part of that ride I enjoyed. -
What rides have you ridden in their debut season?
DanM64 replied to Olsor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1999 Exterminator- Kennywood 2004 Revenge of the Mummy- Universal Orlando 2005 SheiKra- BGT Italian Job- KI 2012 Skyrush- HP I also just booked a hotel for Cedar Point for the 13th-15th of this month, so unless the weather is lightly misting or it breaks down, I'll get on GateKeeper this year. I don't have the best luck with CP, so hopefully I have a good trip! -

DanM64 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to try out 5/1 when I visit on the 13th and 14th of this month. I'm a backseat rider on every coaster except TTD and Kingda Ka- I prefer those 2 in the front row. As a sidenote- what sort of crowds should I expect? I went to HalloWeekends 2 years ago in October and crowds were heavy. Will the 13th and 14th be any lighter since it's the first weekend for it, or will they be busy? -

Most Shocking Ride Announcements?
DanM64 replied to dropzonefan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Goliath at SFGAm was pretty surprising to me, but I don't think I've ever been more surprised than I was when I heard about Leviathan.
