I went to PPP in '03 and '04 without being a member of any club. -

I wish Villain could've been salvaged; I've always wanted to ride that for some reason. Got a chance to ride S:UE and Knight Flight in their new parks and enjoyed them both. -
I love it. Honestly, the last time I've waited in a line over 10-15 minutes for a ride at Dorney was for Talon the year it opened (2001), and I've been there 7-8 times since then. The turn over the lake/pond/whatever was very close to a bunch of houses and the park got a lot of noise complaints. Who knew amusement parks were a source of loud noise?

I think a lot of people will be disappointed if they're expecting a top 10 caliber ride or even anything close to that. -

First knockoff sports jerseys, now knockoff roller coasters....what will the Chinese fake next? I say space shuttles. -
If Driskel lives up to expectations I could see us being alright, but sadly I think it'll take a few years before they can contend in the SEC again.

Just Sidewinder at Hershey, but one is enough for me. -

I totally agree...the money they've spent on this so far they could have done so much else! Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. They knew they were taking on a very ambitious project but I imagine if they knew it would take this long, they would have considered something different. At this point though, they are pretty much all-in. Back around the time Flying Turns was announced I kept hearing a rumor about Knoebel's possibly "resurrecting" the Rye Airplane Coaster. Who knows how true that is, but that would've been a much better route to go down. I'm sure I come off as obsessed with this debacle, but I've been dreaming about a woodie on the mountain by the Scenic Skyway since like 2004. I won't be fully satisfied until that's realized -

If inclined loops are considered inversions, this definitely should be. -

I'm not even 100% convinced on that TBH...Will the ride be that amazing and popular in the long term to warrant the effort. It would give them something unique. I could see it being mildly thrilling. The top speed isn't that high but taking turns that tight could be fun...although with all the talk of the park trying to neuter it, who knows. -

This is what, the 6th time they've had to tear up and replace sections of track? Just ugh...this is so frustrating. I wish they had taken all the money they've wasted on this ride and built a Boulder Dash style coaster on the side of the hill by the skyway...or hell, ANY type of coaster that would actually operate. It's obviously late for this, but I wish they had purchased Bullet from Flamingoland and put it on that piece of land to replace Whirlwind. -

Rode one of the outsides seats on SkyRush and experienced no roughness/bumpiness/vibration whatsoever. Didn't have a problem with the lap bar destroying my thighs until the next to last airtime hill (the "twisty" one). -
Had no difficulty finding Skyliner when I was there in '04...it's the tallest (or one of the tallest) ride in the park for one, and two, just walk towards the baseball stadium and you can't miss it. Totally agree with Grizzly at KD though. Had I not known beforehand that Grizzly was a roller coaster at Kings Dominion, I would've had no idea it existed. I walked right past it to get to Rebel Yell and didn't spot the entrance.

You could, umm, not ride it. Like the Orioles being completely out of contention each year? I guess it's also bad that Camden Yards "changed the game" on modern baseball stadium design, right? Yeah, things are definitely getting worse with time. If this thing gives a great ride, I don't care what it's made of. I think a better analogy would be if Major League Baseball decided to add random obstacles in the outfield or some other similar gimmick. This is my thing...for example, when Steel Force opened in '97, it was a huge deal around here because of how big the ride was. I want that back again. I miss those days. Now if a park adds a hyper, it's looked at as a normal park addition and not anything mind-blowing. Traditional rides remind me of better times and all this "innovation" is making me realize how crappy life gets as you get older. Nothing is ever the same. Some of the best times I ever had at amusement parks were at Hersheypark when I was a kid, before SkyRush, before Storm Runner, Fahrenheit, etc. I just want those good times back. -

I don't understand why you have to put an inversion on wooden coaster...it just bothers me. Why can't things just stay traditional and stay the way they've always been? If it isn't broke, don't fix it. The ride looks incredible otherwise but I hate how they're doing this. I hate that we've advanced to the point where there's actual debate on whether a coaster is wood or steel. Everything is getting worse with time. -
My last ride on Alpengeist was nearly 10 years ago, but I remember the turn into the MCBR knocking my head around a bit. I was really disappointed by that ride...still good, but out of the inverts I've ridden (B:TR, Montu, Talon, Raptor, Great Bear, Alpengeist), I'd put it slightly above Great Bear but way behind the others.

Best coaster ride when raining

Twister becomes possessed when it's raining. Phoenix does too, to a degree, but Twister is insane in bad weather. -
Seriously bad theme park days
Josh Linn replied to caffeine_demon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been very lucky at parks over the years. My "worst" day was really my fault and had nothing at all to do with the park. I decided on a whim to go to Kings Dominion two years ago (about a 6 hour drive). I left around 5 AM...no sleep, nothing. I felt fine when I got there, which was around 11-11:30. Ridiculously small lines (I305 was a walk on), etc., but it was in the high 90's and the heat started getting to me big time. After riding 6 coasters I had a ridiculous headache, was tired, and was really dehydrated despite drinking water after every ride. I wanted to ride Grizzly before I left, but I had to pack it in and leave before I passed out. I made it about 20 miles on I-95 North before I started nodding off and had to get a hotel room for a few hours. That was brutal and rather poor planning on my part.
