  1. I always thought Hershey's Wildcat had a sick looking drop.
  2. 1. Storm Runner 2. Kingda Ka 3. Top Thrill Dragster Storm Runner is on another level. I actually prefer its' launch to Kingda Ka and Dragster.
  3. Forgot to add this: I don't know if I got lucky, but Wildcat was running VERY well today. Easily the best ride I've ever gotten on it.
  4. Got to ride once today (would've been more, but my friend who was with me didn't want to go on again, meh). I'm not sure I'd rank it above I305, but it's certainly in that class. Has it beat in the airtime department for sure. A few things: 1) I don't think the person/people that green-lighted the station design thought it through as much as they should have. 2) I personally didn't experience any pain, but I did overhear a few people say something about how the ride "killed their legs". Most of them were teenage kids, so take it for what it's worth. 3) I rode in the right outside seat and absolutely loved the openness/sense of freedom. I obviously know the lap bar was sufficient, but I would be lying if I said there wasn't a brief second where I thought "wait, this is all that's keeping me in?". Glad I chose the seat that I did.
  5. Trailblazer? Too intense. I think I'm going to stick with the Xtreme Cup Challenge all day, and if I'm feeling courageous I might take a spin on the Chocolate World tour.
  6. I might be going on Wednesday...I guess I should do a few sets of squats at the gym to prepare for such a torturous death machine
  7. They have plenty of room with the now closed golf course next door (speaking of which, I'm surprised SkyRush wasn't extended further into the course), and if they ever decide to demolish Hersheypark Stadium and build a new one closer to the GIANT Center, they'll have even more space for a marquee ride. Getting rid of Hersheypark Arena is possible, but I'm not sure if they'll ever tear it down due to the historical significance (site of Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game, etc.) and the fact that it's still used a fair amount.
  8. B&M: Alpengeist...I've been lucky enough to avoid most of the "bad" ones, but Alpengeist was surprisingly average. Intamin: Skull Mountain GCI: Gwazi Tiger...haven't ridden it since the train switch but I can't imagine them making the ride any better than Lightning Racer or Wildcat.
  9. I don't understand why people are getting so bent out of shape. I could see if they trimmed the whole drop ala Intimidator 305*, but this is three ridiculously tiny spots that will make little difference. *-My only ride on I305 was with the trimmed drop and despite that it's still the best roller coaster I've ever ridden.
  10. There are three hotels right off of I-80 in Bloomsburg, which is a 15-20 minute drive away. There's a Comfort Suites up by the Walmart/Lowe's area, an Econo Lodge in the parking lot next to the mall, and a Holiday Inn Express right across from the mall. I'm pretty familiar with the area (needless to say, I've been here my whole life), so let me know if you have any other questions.
  11. Rode WildCat once when I was there in 2000...enjoyed it from what I can remember, but didn't bother riding it the next time I went. Sucks that there's one less roller coaster for families/smaller kids to ride, but such is life in the amusement park business.
  12. [insert "Knoebel's should save this coaster" comment here]
  13. I love how Cedar Fair buys all their paint in bulk and paints every ride they can find with those colors. This scheme is a much better/more original choice than red and yellow is, though.
  14. Definites Knoebel's Hersheypark Maybes Kennywood Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags New England Lake Compounce
  15. Gold Reef City has two...Anaconda is the only Giovanola invert in existence and Tower of Terror is the only, uh, whatever it is in existence.
  16. Not sure what the rule is on that, but it's not a hard rule seeing as Bell owns half of MLSE and a portion of the Canadiens. Apparently the NHL will be making a ruling on this soon. From the Toronto Sun: http://www.torontosun.com/2011/12/09/nhl-will-deal-with-bells-ownership-of-leafs-habs It is against the rules in the NBA, NFL, and MLB. Apparently there's some loopholes in the NHL's version of the rule.
  17. I love how they even have the hieroglyphic Montu on the entrance building.
  18. I really hate this country sometimes, and this is one of them. Apparently Googling "how to make a bomb" is ok, but god forbid somebody watch a soccer game or play poker online (the poker part is separate legislation, but goes to show that the government could care less about anything other than money). What's next, are they gonna send people to jail for reading books at libraries because they don't own those books?
  19. I was a little skeptical of this addition at first because it was another inverted shuttle coaster located right next to the other one, but the more I thought about it, the ride experiences are a lot different and it does look nice in the old Laser spot. Not as nice as Laser, but nice. Dorney to me is an "incomplete" park (I'm not a water park guy)...I've never encountered any long lines there, so I'm usually done with riding all of this: Talon Hydra Steel Force Possessed Thunderhawk Meteor Dominator Thunder Creek Mountain. The go-karts if I feel like spending the extra cash In about two hours. Hydra and Possessed have helped and I'm sure Stinger will too, but to me they're another marquee coaster away from being more "complete".
  20. MLSE wouldn't be allowed to own the team. I'm pretty positive there's a rule against owners having shares of more than one franchise. I just can't imagine them being willing to share the ACC with another team owned by someone else. A second team absolutely would succeed there though. From what I hear you have a better chance of winning the lottery than scoring Leafs tickets. Why someone would subject themselves to a Leafs game I have no idea, but what do I know, I'm just a lowly Flyers fan. Saskatoon and Regina are just too small...should they have AHL teams? Absolutely. NHL? No. It'd be really hard for them to make money. They're dwarfed in comparison to Winnipeg (690k), Hamilton (690k), and Quebec City (710k), and those are even small by NHL market standards. Quebec City, Hamilton, or a second Toronto team are the only viable NHL markets left in Canada IMO.
  21. I'm a little late quoting this, but that'd be a turrible idea. You already have a few existing teams struggling...the Coyotes are losing money by the second, the Panthers are too (but are saved by a sweet lease deal), and the Islanders arena proposals are getting shot down left and right. It would solve the problem of DET/CBJ/NSH/WPG being in the "wrong" conference, but I'm not sure there's enough markets out there that could handle it. Plus the player pool would be diluted even more. Pretty much every potential market has a flaw: -Quebec (best situation out of them all, but arena deal not official yet) -Hamilton (old arena, territorial rights issues with Leafs and Sabres) -Toronto II (no chance the Leafs share the ACC...bigger hassle than Hamilton would be) -Saskatoon (I'm sure they'd get great support but a city with a 233k metro population does not deserve a pro team) -Kansas City (already had the Scouts who left) -Seattle (no arena...they should focus on getting the Sonics back first anyway) -Houston (wouldn't be able to play at Toyota Center unless the Rockets/Aeros owner was the one who was behind it) -Portland (same as Houston) -Atlanta (Thrashers ownership really did screw them, but that was their "second chance" team after the Flames) -Hartford (arena outdated and on the small side...bigger than Winnipeg's but still tiny) -Cleveland (had the Barons and the area seems to be in a decline) -Vegas (I'm putting the odds at 20 to 1 for Vegas to have any pro team because of the gambling) Quebec is the only city they could move to now and almost guarantee profit/success. Everywhere else is a crapshoot at best.
  22. This was difficult after my top 5: 1. El Toro (SFGAdv) 2. Phoenix (Knoebel's) 3. Lightning Racer - Thunder (Hershey) 4. Lightning Racer - Lightning (Hershey) 5. Twister (Knoebel's) 6. Mean Streak (Cedar Point) 14. Rolling Thunder (SFGAdv) 15. Thunderhawk (Dorney)
