I'm surprised that more weren't built, honestly. They are (to me) a perfect intermediate roller coaster.

Arguably the most popular ride in the park = more people around = more sales Talon is not the most popular ride in the park, pretty sure the GP chose Steel Force over Talon for most popular. If you want to make sales, then go sell it next to Stinger. It's also located right next to the front gate, which literally everyone walks through.

It may be a good idea to see your doctor - could be hypertension. (I'm pretty sure that if your BP is under control with drugs, the warning signs about high BP don't apply to you..) I've mentioned it to doctors and they never seem to think it's a big deal. I was at an appointment last month and IIRC my blood pressure was like 110/70, so I'm not sure if it's that. It sucks regardless as roller coasters have been a huge part of my life ever since I was like 10.

I wasn't a huge fan of Alpengeist, honestly. It's actually my least favorite of the inverts I've been on. I'd probably go: Montu Raptor Batman: The Ride Talon Great Bear Alpengeist I've been lucky to ride some good ones and really only Montu and Raptor stand out above the rest, but Talon is the one thing I miss about visiting Dorney frequently. It's really good.

You could even argue that Dorney was ahead of Hershey in '97 when Steel Force opened; Hershey's marquee coaster at the time was probably Wildcat, but matching the rate at which Hershey was/is expanding would've been a huge ask. It's really impressive how much Hershey has grown since the late 90's. They've had: 98: Great Bear 00: Lightning Racer 02: Roller Soaker 04: Storm Runner 08: Fahrenheit 12: SkyRush 15: Laff Trakk Not many parks out there have churned out major attractions that frequently. Hershey also had two huge advantages over Dorney: a crap ton of land for expansion and the lack of resistance from residential neighbors.

Finally made my way over there for the first time in awhile... 1. Impulse is really good. Drop was awesome and the ride packs a lot into a small footprint. Perfect compliment to the park. 2. Had one of the best rides on Twister that I've ever had. Rides just like it did when it opened. 3. I think I might have to stop riding roller coasters. I got through one ride each on Phoenix and Twister without a problem, but once we got to Impulse I got a really uncomfortable pressure headache right after we got out of the loop; had this happen to me at Hershey four years ago as well. I've had issues with motion sickness before and I was wearing sea bands all day, but I still felt like garbage. Not sure what else to try. I went from being able to ride Twister 47 times in a day to this.

They're just in a tough spot because of the competition. They're pretty much the Six Flags America of Cedar Fair. Michigans Adventure says hi Michigan's Adventure is in a crazy small market compared to Dorney and SFA. I'd say the park is treated appropriately as far as new additions are corncerned because it'd be near impossible for them to get good ROI from a huge marquee roller coaster. SFA and Dorney are victims of the insane competition. Dude, do you even internet? How many times does this statement have to be completely destroyed before it goes away. I said small in relation to Dorney and Six Flags America. Dorney is within driving distance of Philadelphia and metro New York. SFA is close to Philly, Washington, and Baltimore. Which is why I thought Dorney was the more apt comparison.

A big-ish wooden coaster would round out their collection so well; I've always felt like that's the biggest thing missing. Hercules was garbage and Thunderhawk just doesn't do it for me. I live roughly 90 minutes from Dorney and I haven't had any desire to go since Hydra opened. I love Talon, but I'd rather go to Hershey and ride Great Bear (criminally underrated IMO) and then have multiple other awesome rides at my disposal. Hopefully they do something soon that makes me rethink my stance, although I admit I'm hard to please as I'm pretty much a "roller coasters only" guy. I can see why a lot of enthusiasts overlook Dorney Park. The flat ride collection is BY FAR the biggest draw of the park for me, and their log flume is a great water ride as well. Between Demon Drop, Dominator Red and Dominator Green they pretty much have three drop rides. Plus they have Meteor, The Whip, Enterprise, Revolution, and Monster and Apollo are top-notch family flat rides. It's not that I overlook it, I just get really bad motion sickness on anything that spins. I get it on roller coasters too after a few rides, but it's a little easier to manage if I just leave the flat rides out. Not a huge waterpark guy either because of lines and the burden of carrying a change of clothes around. There's just no incentive for me to go when I have Knoebel's, Hershey, and Great Adventure within 2 hours of me and they more or less have a better version of everything Dorney has plus more.

Haven't been to Knoebel's since 2013, Hershey since 2012, and Dorney since 2009. I should probably get on that.

Anywhere that has go-karts is a winner in my eyes.

I think the only time I ever saw the line for Steel Force extend outside the station was in '97 when it opened, and thankfully I didn't have to wait because I wasn't tall enough to ride at the time.

I love Magnum. It was the first big roller coaster I ever went on and is responsible for me becoming so interested in roller coasters, but there is no universe on which it should be ranked higher than Intimidator 305.

Knoebel's going from Jet Star to Whirlwind. I never got to ride Jet Star, but I can't imagine it being as torturous as Whirlwind was. Thankfully they more than made up for that going from Whirlwind --> Flying Turns. Hershey getting rid of Canyon River Rapids to drop a waterpark right in the middle of Midway America is up there for me as well.

$26 for a wristband...it's like we're stealing from them.

Twister is insane in the rain and at night; the night rides I got during PPP '04 were so, so good. However, Phoenix is insane regardless of time of day, weather conditions, or seat...and because of that it's an easy choice.

Echoing what others have said, I've gone to Dorney roughly 20 times since the mid 90's and the only time I saw a long line was for Steel Force the year it opened. I've never waited more than 15 minutes for any ride there. Knoebel's gets crowded, but everything is run so efficiently that there's never any long waits. Waited about an hour to ride Twister the week it opened and 1.5 for Flying Turns last fall when it opened, but other than that, nothing even remotely bad.
