Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
SFMMGeek27 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For those who don't get it yet... R(ichard) M(ichael) C(rosby). = RMC. He paused to make it even clearer. -
They were using 1 station for years before Zumanjaro was ever a thing. Even back then if you compared Dragster's launch interval to Kingda Ka's it was laughable. I don't think you understand how low Maverick's capacity is. Each train holds an ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM of 12 people. In no way, shape or form would that ever be one of Magic Mountain's higher capacity coasters. Especially because we all know they wouldn't use both load stations after the first few months the ride was open. Oh, I'm aware. But I actually calculated the average capacity when I was there in July and it's almost 1000 people per hour which is really good for SFMM standards. I was amazed at how fast they could get Maverick's line moving. 2 Maverick trains were sent in the amount of time it takes TC to send one, so they have about the same capacity. And I bet they'd be good with the dual loading station. They use Tatsu's 90% of the time now. My opinion would've been much different 5 year ago, but their operations are much better now. And I should say if they put in something like Maverick it would only have better capacity if it were running 5-6 trains and everything else was running 2 as usual.

I think a Maverick-style coaster would be good at SFMM. You have to realize that it's capacity is low compared to CP's other coasters, pretty much all of which have much better capacity than anything at Magic Mountain. Maverick would be one of Six Flags Magic Mountain'a higher capacity coasters. The only coaster that would be higher is probably Twisted Colossus, and that isn't even that great but the waits stay pretty short. And they've been really good at keeping their newer rides with the max number of trains they can run. TC has been running 3 trains since it opened and maintenance has been great. So as long as SFMM could keep 4 or maybe 5 trains (which is fewer seats and wheels than 3 TC trains) running then it's quite plausible. I bet a dive would be a top 4 coaster at the park as well, especially with B&M's new heavenly vest restraints.

Fear not! Full trip report coming up when I get back home. Pacific Park, Magic Mountain, Knott's, Disneyland, DCA, and USH! Yay!! Awesome!! Also, one of my friends works at the FT Sports Bar and said that the TPR members she encountered there were super kind and appreciative, which she said isn't too common. She said it was nice to have a group as caring and respectful of the park and its rules for once. So great job everyone!

100% of all attractions at SFMM (including shows and Bugs Bunny World) in ONE DAY! I actually did it in only 8 hours, and this was during the summer!

I should also mention that SFMM is publicly honoring their ride crews now! Over in the TC station they had a banner up that said "Crew of the Month" and some of the ride ops got special shirts for being part of the best crew in the park. I think that's really awesome and maybe that will encourage operations to get better all around the park. Also, shortly after I got in line for TC, the ride stopped operating. But it wasn't because there were any issues with the ride itself. The entire station platform was infested with bees! It was seriously unsafe. It's probably from all the liquids in the souvenir bottles left in the bins and on the station floor. I'm glad they didn't let that issue persist and they stopped the ride for something like that. They were spraying down the area and it wasn't getting any better so they made everyone leave the queue. The ride came back up again about an hour later, and they had all the loose article item bins taped closed and were telling people specific locations to put their loose articles. There were still some bees, but it was much better than before. Even with all this, they were still racing over half the time! I have a friend who was there today and said it was jackhammering. Mind you, it's his first time there. So it may be smoother than before but still not that great. It's still jackhammering a bit in the first half but it's seriously so much better. Not like how it was when it first opened but definitely better than it has been in years. Definitely bearable. And then after the fly through, it doesn't jackhammer at all.

Pretty good! I was on one of the last few trains of the night tonight. They definitely did a lot of work on it and it's nowhere near as jackhammery. They especially did a ton of work from the station fly-through to the end of the ride. That part is super smooth now when it used to be the roughest section of the ride. The first part up to the station flythrough is a little shaky but definitely miles better than what it was before it closed. Probably good enough to marathon now!!

It looks like we did indeed get a custom version of the attraction since SFMM's has two preshow rooms, a larger building, and a different finale that includes Harley Quinn, none of which is included on the SFGAdv press release or any other previous JL installments. I think this will be a great addition to the park and I can't wait to ride it! Also, the Movie District retheme to Metropolis is a great idea! I wonder if they will connect this to DC Universe in any way and if they will just combine both into one mega-land. I guess we shall see! The New Revolution and now a dark ride! This park is really turning away from insane coasters and working on rounding out the family experience. I like it.

Six Flags 2017 New Ride Predictions
SFMMGeek27 replied to djackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All the announcement videos are up on Six Flags's YouTube channel. Check them out here! https://www.youtube.com/user/sixflagsparks/videos I can't believe there's 3 Justice Leagues, 3 4D Free Fly's all called Joker, two Titans, a Star Flyer, and a couple rarer flats. At least there's no Larson Loops! -
^ Also, there is a special deal if you are a current 2016 passholder. The renewal price is $71.99 and gets you all the Gold benefits. It also gets you a free ticket for Fright Fest (only valid September 17-18) and a free ticket to Holiday in the Park (only valid November 19-23). Both of those are for 2016. You also get $50 more of coupons than the GP pass. Seems pretty sweet! Also if anyone wants an All-Season Flash Pass for 2017, they are only $299.99 and are Gold Level.
