  1. X2 has the best operations in the park right now. The crew is on top of things and very rarely stacks trains. It and TC are on the CF level of operations. Tatsu is still terrible though.
  2. My go to is always the back, inside seat...that whip over the first drop never gets old Oh I do agree the back row is much more fun, but the front row is definitely smoother. I don't mind the roughness too much, so I usually prefer the back as well.
  3. I highly advise everyone to ride X2 first thing in the morning. The trains will not have loosened up so the bouncing up and down of the seats is much more tame. It's a specacular ride then. But if you're riding, front row inside seat is always the way to go. But afternoon and night it is much worse. The back row outside seat in the morning is much better than the front row inside seat in the afternoon.
  4. ^that must mean it's either something huge or something tiny. There were no leaks last year either and no one was expecting TNR to be announced.
  5. From the West Coast Bash page: If I hear one person complain that a ride isn't open and try to use the excuse of "Well TPR advertised it" not only will you not be allowed to attend another one of our events ever again but you'll be banned from TPR for life. Look, I get it that everyone is looking forward to riding stuff, but if one ride being down is going to make or break the day for you, do us all a favor and don't go. --Robb "So sick of all the complaining." Alvey I'm not even going to the event and wasn't ever planning to... lol. And I saw that statement as well. I was just saying that if TPR had been advertising it, then at least at the time the event was booked, this schedule maintenance wasn't planning on overlapping with WCB. I know you have no control over it. I wasn't even complaining since the situation doesn't even affect me or apply to me in any way. It just seems like it would be a minor annoyance since the park could've chosen a time that didn't overlap with WCB (and we don't even know if it does yet!). Just an observation. I hope it's open for you guys though! It's such a fun ride, my third favorite behind TC and FT. And if it's fresh out of maintenance, even better! But if it's not open, there's still so many other attractions that you're really not missing out a whole lot. ^^and in case you didn't notice, I wasn't blaming TPR at all. I was moreso blaming the park. I know TPR has no control over it.
  6. ^it's scheduled. I rode it the end of the day before it went down and it was running just fine. All the ops at the end of the night said it was going to be down for the next 2-3 weeks for maintenance and that they were all working over at Viper or TNR during the closure. And that was two weeks ago now. If I were to guess, they are just doing this to keep the cycle count on the trains down that way they can run two trains all the way through Fright Fest. They've been behind on the train maintenance on X2, and it ran one train for 4 months during that year, and the train that ran during that whole time hasn't been in maintenance for almost 18 months now. So they just decided to take the entire ride down for some general maintenance such as cleaning and painting in the station. Hopefully it will be back open by WCB. I wouldn't bet on Apocalypse being open again by then though. It has been down for about a month now though!
  7. I'm hearing X2 should be open for WCB. It was only supposed to be a 2 or 3 week refurb. And if TPR is advertising ERT on it, it would be kinda rude for the park to have it down just for general maintenance. I wonder what they are even doing? When I was there last week, there wasn't any visible work.
  8. Watch out for any Bring A Friend Free Days otherwise it will be super light.
  9. Your experience on Batman is completely common. For some reason, the unlock mechanism is very hit-or-miss with rows 1 and 2. Sometimes it works just fine and other times it just sticks down and doesn't unlock. It usually takes everyone pushing down and pulling up of their restraints and the ride op pulling down on that bar to unlock the two rows. I've seen it probably a hundred times. So I'm guessing the ops are instructed about that. Yes, the TC race program needs to be reprogrammed. It doesn't seem that hard to line up two trains with sensors. Also, they could get an extra 15-20 seconds to load trains per dispatch if the green lift ran at its slowest speed possible by default, rather than adjusting itself to that speed after the next Train has already been dispatched. It's so frustrating.
  10. With one half of that being Superman and the other half being the VR on Superman.
  11. When I was at CP in July I didn't think MS was bad at all! What I couldn't stand was Blie Streak! I came off of that with a huge headache. And I was riding MS in the middle too, so not even the front row. It wasn't good, but at least I didn't come off with a headache.
  12. Apocalypse will be down for quite a while too. They are retracting, and as we know, pretty much the whole coaster needs it.
  13. Oh and by the way, I have confirmed with the park that X2 will be down for the next 2 weeks for general maintenance. So if you're visiting, don't expect it to be open.
  14. Aww man... Wish I was there that day. And I don't know... I've gone 4 times this summer, including today, and every time there was an excessive amount of bees trying to get at all the liquids people put on the left side. Maybe because it's hot?... Idk. Regardless, I'm allergic to bees, but that doesn't stop me from riding, in my opinion, one of the best coasters in the world multiple times. It got really bad on Saturday too once the crowds started showing up. Like really bad. But first thing in the morning when the trains only had 4 or 5 people in them there wasn't a problem at all. Does anyone know why X2 is down? It wasn't down 3 days ago. I wonder if it's maintenance or if something happened.
  15. I know X2 was open and running 2 trains when I was there on Saturday. Not sure about now.
  16. To clarify my point on the ride maintenance, their ride uptime WAS excellent. As I said all of their reliable rides are down frequently during the day. Kings Island (I was there last week for 4 days) runs trains in the rain. This is a CP policy not Cedar Fair. I'm looking forward to another bad day at the park today. The forcast is for rain all day. I know all you "CP fanboys" love this park, but I knew it when it was great. They had great ride up time, rideops that liked their jobs, etc. I've seen it go straight downhill over the years. Something bad changed about 10 years ago making it mediocre at best. They could care less about their customers. They don't get it - It's sad. I think you need to go back and visit SFMM again lol. Then come and tell me about the crappy maintenance and the employees who just don't care. I was just at SFMM Saturday and at least 5 of the ride ops were having conversations and not dispatching trains or were just beatboxing into the microphone. Tatsu was stacking when they were using both stations with 2 trains. And then there's that time earlier this year where there only ran one train on X2 for 5 months. And in regard to rain, I have no idea how that works at most parks since I usually don't have to deal with it at my home park. But if it's me, I wouldn't want to ride a coaster in the rain anyways. At least in anything much more than drizzle.
  17. I'm still betting that Six Flags Magic Mountain doesn't get a Justice League. Even the park knows that they don't cater to that demographic. Even though it would be nice to have (AC!!) I just don't see it. Especially with all that open space they cleared. I'm really really hoping for a flat package. We really, like REALLY need it. I could see them going the way of coaster #20, but we don't really need it at this point.
  18. ^wow. I don't think it's the maintenance department. They've had most of these rides for many years and most likely have maintenance down to a science. Something can always throw a sensor. These rides are very fragile and delicate. It's amazing that they can diagnose the issue and usually have the rides back up and running in a couple hours at most. That's actually really impressive! They aren't slacking. Having a ride running at a lower capacity is better than not having it run at all, and if it's for safety, than that's the most important! I'm from SFMM where they only run 2 trains max on all coasters except TC, so I can say rides can still be efficient with only 2 trains. And when the weather is "iffy" I guess it's better to err on the side of caution than to have to close every half hour just to put a train off then take it off, etc.
  19. I always get ejector on the hill rift after the first tunnel and on the pop right next to the station. It's pretty weak ejector, butejector nonetheless. Go on Goliath and feel its floater hill and then go back to MF and you'll feel the ejector.
  20. Yes, I forgot to mention MF's intensity! Both times I rode it this trip, I greyed out in the first overbank after the first drop. That may bring it up to an 8.5. And yes, there's definitely some good ejector on MF. Compared to Goliath, which maybe maybe on a good day in the very back you might get a tiny tiny ounce of floater. But if you get through the hill asking yourself if you got airtime or not, you probably didn't get very much.
  21. This seems like a good time to leave my input in this thread. I went to CP July 18th and 19th for the first time since 2013. SFMM is my home park and I wanted to wait until I visited there again to write my reviews and comparisons. I finally just got ever there yesterday and rode all the major coasters. And wow, all I can say is that CP is much better by a landslide. Maverick- well this was my #1 when I rode it in 2013, but now with the newer soft restraints it's even better! Love love LOVE this ride!! Nothing really compares to this. The second day we were there it had an hour long queue and we rode it once and then hopped back in for another hour wait to go again! Even better during the sunset and at night. 10/10 nothing at SFMM remote compares to this. So intense and forceful! Tight turns are a plus. TTD: All rows are amazing, but the front... wow. You don't get acceleration or really any forces like that at Magic Mountain. Superman is the closest and it's not even near. Full Throttle doesn't even feel like a launch too much, it just feels like it just goes (still love that ride though). Row 2-10 8.5/10 front 10/10 MF: well that beat the crap out of Goliath by the end of the first drop. I like the airtime on this and how it keeps its speed throughout. Intense too. Not the best coaster in the world but still super fun! 8.5/10 GateKeeper: Great ride!! It's just so graceful. I feel like the long drawn out elements just make you really feel like you're flying. I kinda like how it's not very forceful, you feel like you're gliding like a bird! Underrated coaster, just wish it had a better ending. X2 is better than this, but not by much. 8.5/10 Valravn: Another great ride!! This and Gatekeeper are better than Tatsu in my opinion. Great drop and I love the giant track and the inversions on this feel pretty sweet as well. That 270° roll is one of my favorite elements on any coaster. Just wish it was a little bit longer. 9/10 Raptor: wow, I really didn't enjoy this. One ride and done. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but it just didn't do anything for me. Probably equal with Batman: The Ride. I might even like Batman a little better. But inverts don't really do much for me, probably my least favorite coaster type. 6/10 Rough-arou: I rode this as Mantis and didn't think it was that bad, but Riddler's Revenge was much better. Then I rode it as Rougarou and I thought it was kinda pointless and boring but also got one or two pretty bad headbangs near the end. Not terrible but not great either. Scream is definitely much better. 5.5/10 Blue Streak: That wasn't very fun... or memorable. Worse than Mean Streak in my opinion. But not too bad either. 5/10 Mean Streak: Not a common opinion, but better than Blue Streak. And I wasn't even riding in the front. Apocalypse is much superior to both of these, but both of these are much much superior to Psyclone. 5.2/10 Wicked Twister: That was a really fun impulse coaster! Definitely better on the ends, and not really similar to anything at SFMM. Nice little change that's super fun! 7.5/10 Iron Dragon: Fun ride, and its VR absolutely murdered the VR on Revolution and it actually enhances the ride experience. I wasn't disappointed. Ninja is better, but still a very solid suspended coaster! 7/10 no VR, 8/10 with VR Magnum XL-200: REALLY like the airtime on this! Fun, fast, little jerky, classic coaster! Often has a short line which is a plus. Better than anything comparable at Magic Mountain (Goliath?? Hmm) and just a bit better than MF in my opinion. 8.5/10 Gemini: This was okay. One ride and done though. Racing was cool I guess.. nothing really bad about this but it was a little rough? Magic Mountain'a hybrid coaster definitely beats this one . 6/10 Cedar Creek Mine Ride: That was pretty fun! Probably on par with Goldrusher. Liked how parts were over water too. 6.5/10 (YES, I liked this more than I liked Rougarou) Corkscrew: WTF was that??? Pretty sure that airtime hill was trying to kill me. This had a solid 10-15 minute wait the second day we were at CP. Why do people want to ride this??? Revolution with OTSRs is better, but without OTSRs is like a million times better than this. 1/10? Power Tower: Good towers! I prefer S&S Drops to Intamin towers like Lex Luthor, but Lex definitely beats the shot side. Drop: 7.5/10. Shot 4/10 MaxAir: Great flat!!! With SFMM actually had some flats. One of my favorites! 8.5/10 SkyHawk: missed this on my first visit (it's kinda hidden off the main path) but made sure to ride this time. WOW I really had missed out!! My favorite flat in the park by FAR!! Just so much fun! It's like my entire childhood on steroids. Love the air and hangtime. Very strange feeling! Just wish the ride cycle was longer!! I need one of these for my backyard. 10/10 Witches Wheel: missed this last time as well. I love how free you are when you invert. Such a weird weightless feeling. 8.5/10 Didn't ride any water rides, but they seemed much superior to Six Flags Magic Mountain's... at least they soak you a lot more. There's my review: Well CP definitely wins in the Flats department. But for the coasters, I'd say they definitely have better world-class coasters. The top of CP's line up absolutely murders the top of Magic Mountain's. But I'd say Magic Mountain's mid size and family coasters like Goldrusher and Ninja. Also, SFMM has a better floorless coaster if that counts for anything. But for me the standouts here were: Maverick, Gatekeeper, Valravn, Magnum, and the flats. And these are all better imo than SFMM's standouts: X2, Tatsu, Full Throttle, and TC (okay, TC might be better than all of those but Maverick, but still.) Well, there you go!
  22. Wow... no one goes to TC first thing in the morning anymore. I was at the park yesterday and went in for Gold Pass early entry and went to FT first where I got on the 3rd train of the day. Then I walked over to TC, where I got onto the very next train which was about 3/4 full. Then after that ride there is no one in the station except two people waiting for the front row but they won't allow rerides. So those two in the front got the whole train to themselves. Then my friend and I decided to just walk around and get in line again and we got front row on the very next train. It was just the two of us and one other person on the entire train. And at this point it was 25 minutes after opening. We were all starting to wonder "where is everybody??" because they were already starting to park people in front of Scream. When we came back from that ride, there wasn't even a one train wait yet and after we rode Scream and walked back up, there was still only a 1-2 train wait and it was already 11:10. So go to TC first thing in the morning for some great ERT!
  23. But it seems like Six Flags Magic Mountain never gets what the rest of the chain gets... like we don't have a SkyScreamer or a Super Loop
  24. No way this is just a JL. I also know that the Waterfront restaurant is getting demolished in September as well. So they will also have that entire old lagoon and restaurant area in addition to the old theater and the Riddler Plaza. This is gonna be huge!!! It's either gonna be a huge flat complex (Screamin' Swing, like skyhawk at CP, please!!) or a new coaster which would be awesome as well. Remember, 2016 was a low budget year for Six Flags Magic Mountain. They seem to alternate between low and high budget each year. 2016 - TNR (low) 2015 - TC (high) 2014 - namtaB and Colossus backwards (low) 2013 - Full Throttle (high) 2012 - Lex (low-ish) 2011 - GL, Superman, -and RRE (high) 2010 - nothing (low) 2009 - Apocalypse (high)
  25. I always had the idea that if you can enter the park until a certain time, you should have enough time to get to a ride before the line closes. You can't even do that at SFMM. They close the main gate an hour before posted closing time and the re-entry gate 30 min before the posted closing time. You basically can't get in after that.
