  1. I usually go the second or third Sunday and it's super quiet either way. I've been the past 3 years or so and every ride is a walk-on. Even Tatsu is only a station wait. So you won't go wrong with Sunday's at Fright Fest.
  2. And this is amazing. This allows for some leniency. Over at SFMM they close the line the SECOND the clock strikes closing time, with no exceptions. It makes it really stressful trying to get across from TC to Tatsu right before closing.
  3. Thanks for your answer! So it's gonna be empty during the day and more crowded in the evening you think? We have the choice of going either saturday or sunday that weekend, guessing sunday is the best day of the two? Thanks again! Definitely choose Sunday. Saturday will be much busier as it's the first night of Fright Fest and it's Saturday. That Sunday should be light pretty much the whole day. Crowds might pick up around 3 or 4 PM, but it will probably be less noticeable around the rides after 7Pm since all the crowds will be spread out to all the Fright Fest activities from then on. But yeah that day for he most part you're probably looking at 30 min or less for the headliners, stattion waits for everything else at most. Probably even less than that.
  4. Yeah... it's pretty hard to get discount tickets during Fright Fest. But that day should be very empty crowdwise so it will be well worth it!
  5. The front for Tatsu will make it less likely that you'll grey out. Yes, a small bottle should be fine. I wouldn't keep the articles in a pocket on: X2, Tatsu, Full Throttle, Twisted Colossus. Most others should be fine.
  6. It was when it opened, but isn't anymore. The line for that one moves fast though, so even if the station's full, you probably won't wait more than 45 minutes for it. It's 35 minutes from the entrance with 3 trains running. Riddler gets a solid line nowadays as well.
  7. I've noticed the line for the front for TTD is noticeably shorter in the 2nd station. At least it has been almost all the times I've ridden.
  8. What would be a good time to get Fast Lane, since CP does not begin selling them until the park opens? They sell them During early entry. You just can't use them until opening. When I was there a couple weeks ago, people were lining up at Valravn at 9:45 to go in the FL+ line when it opened at 10.
  9. I think they do need to enforce a mandatory-locker policy in the park. It would make operations so much better. Just look at X2. They already have this policy and it's the most efficient coaster in the park. They get the trains out very fast! At least they definitely need to do this with TC and YOLO for sure. This would make the lines go so much faster for those two.
  10. I was pleasantly surprised by how few people took out their cell phones on the rides at CP last week. But I guess I only have Magic Mountain to compare it to, so pretty much anything looks better than 75% of the train with their phones out on Twisted Colossus at any given moment.
  11. Park is wide open and I'm heading there around 2:30. Parking is into middle 3rd lot so only people to stay away seems to be you and your group. True many workers from AV are calling out as take yesterday with full closure of the I-14 freeway for 45 miles many were unable to make it to work. And today looks like partial closings of the 14 that no reason a min paid worker needs to be stuck on the wrong side of a closed freeway for a 5 hour shift. Seems like the wind is shifting towards NE and as of right now (2:15) SFMM is under nice blue skies. 3rd lot is a light day! Last summer, it was parked in the dirt everyday and wasn't even that crowded.
  12. Yes. I know my high school in SCV is currently a shelter area. They are reaching out to those in the area to donate water and supplies.
  13. The park is dead on Fridays in late September/early October... even during Fright Fest. They usually don't get busier until after October 15th. Youll get multiple rerides on everything those days. Same with weekdays after August 15th. It's probably even emptier!!
  14. When I was there earlier this week, I was amazed by just how many people splurged and bought FastLane+! It almost seemed like people were pouring into the FL queues just as much as the main queue.
  15. Got to try the VR on Iron Dragon tonight. It was amazing!! It beats out The New Revolution by a landslide, both operations and the video itself. Video-wise, you were riding in a horse drawn carriage and suddenly get picked up by a flying creature. You dive into caves and there are a few jump scares where a huge dragon pops out and tries to bite and eat you! These were executed well! I won't spoil the ending, but it's really cool. The video also followed your particular car much better than it did for TNR. The calibration was also different than it was at Six Flags. Instead of calibrating with a QR code on the back of the row in front of you, it calibrated with the phone's location services and CP's in park wifi. It could tell what car you were in by the location and calibrate appropriately, and it was accurate while I was there. The quality was actually really good as well, not blurry at all! Operations-wise, they were only running one train for the preview, but they were still being very efficient. The train was in the station for probably 2 minutes or less, and they were dispatching faster with one train than Six Flags Magic Mountain does with two so... cool! They helped you adjust the headset while you were waiting in line that way it would be super fast to put on once on the ride, and it worked well! They checked that all were working as well. The headsets don't come with lanyards like they do at SFMM but they do have an extra plastic cover over the phone itself and aren't just ziptied on. After the ride was over, ride ops collected the headsets from the right (load) side before unloading, unlocking each car manually as they went, allowing the process to go faster. This allowed the headsets to get to cleaning much faster than when they are collected on the opposite side after unload. Overall, the process was really efficient and I really enjoyed the VR on Iron Dragon, unlike The New Revolution which was really boring, slow, and underwhelming. That made me think that VR coasters were a terrible idea, but I think this could be a big hit and that it would be a good step for CP go introdicd this. I believe that they could run it efficient as well, as they were doing a great job today and it was only the 5th day of testing. Let me know if you guys have any questions about it.
  16. I've been here the past two days and it's been a huge contrast. Yesterday was pretty dead as Valravn was only a 30 min wait around 3PM (only thru the very first tiny set of switchbacks). MF was 20 min or so (2 switchbacks past the FL merge point). Maverick was 35-40 all day but never a line for FL. It was amazing! TTD didn't get longer than on the ramp all day. Today, not so much. Valravn has been 90min-2hr all day, Maverick is 90-100 min with a long line for FL. It was all the way down the steps and basically to the FL entrance to the ride the whole time I was there in the standby line. MF was almost an hour (through a whole switchback set and 4 switchbacks in the second set) and the entire park feels much more crowded. Still fun and great weather though!
  17. That sounds awesome! I have also heard some murmurings that the Waterfront restaurant is coming down in the next few months for the 2017 project as well. Hopefully we will get some flats the park direly needs, as I've seen since I've been at CP the last two days.
  18. Why off year next year? we just had one this year with TNR. So quite possible for us to get a dive coaster next year in my opinion.
  19. I wonder if the record high temps a few weeks back are to blame, or the GP really isnt enticed by the VR gimmick. Maybe Harry Potter also had a bigger impact than they anticipated All my visits so far this summer (even on 4th of July weekend!) have been substantially less crowded than random weekends in January and February. It seems that the "off season" has actually been a busier time for the park than the "peak season". Which is just fine too. I know a lot of people have come for the VR, but not near the number that came for TC. But the park has been much more enjoyable this summer. It seems like it is more properly staffed for the crowd levels it has now. Operations (outside of VR and Tatsu) have gotten better. Many repairs have been made. I think the park needed this lower peak season to catch up on some much needed maintenance and random projects around the park.
  20. If you still wanna go on without OTSRs, use the single rider line for a minimal wait. The ride is actually really well staffed, and it is not really their nor the guest's problem. It's just the technology for the most part. The phones can't be cleaned and charged fast enough to distribute to new guests in time for a full train to dispatch. So they either send half full trains or wait for all the VR to fill up, and then with adjusting the headsets, it takes 5-7 minutes and everyone is working hard. The problem is that a lot of the phones malfunction as well, and they do this either in the station (where it takes a little bit to get a replacement headset) or during the ride (where these riders get a reride). Also, they completely die after 2 or 3 times around the circuit. And they only started with 200 headsets, which I'm sure at least 10-15% of those have broken already. And you know how long it takes to charge these phones. Everyone is working as hard as they can, and just if they had more cooperative/ greater quantity of technology, then the ride would be much more efficient. Also: TIP: ride first thing in the morning and the line will move much faster because all the phones are fully charged so they can distribute them faster. I'll be trying the VR on Iron Dragon at CP either tomorrow or Tuesday so I'll compare the experiences and let you know in terms of fun, quality, efficiency, etc.
  21. I seriously hope it's like that next Monday and Tuesday when I'm there!
  22. Ugh... they're predicting thunderstorms for both next Monday and Tuesday- the only two days I'll be at CP... I am too spoiled by southern CA sunshine haha. Hopefully the forecast changes by then
  23. The general rule is if it doesn't fit in your pockets, it can't ride with you. So no purses or fanny packs. Many rides have lockers at the entrance, or you can put your stuff on the station platform on all rides (except X2, where they force you to pay $1 for a locker). There's a deal where for like $10 you can move your stuff from locker to locker at each of the rides an Unlimited number of times all day as well. If you want an all-day locker, there are some near the entrance behind Guest Relations next to the Flash Pass Center.
