  1. Me and my friends had the same problem Saturday at Lake Compounce. Too many people went through at once. My suggestion is to deliberately try to slow down enough to seperate yourselves from the people in front of you. We slowed down and let the people in front of us get a lot further ahead and because of that, our experience drastically improved because we got all the surprises. The only thing is you might not be popular with the employees because we also ended up slowing down everyone else behind us which probably crammed some people.
  2. Unfortunately both coasters were 1 train operation which seemed to significantly increase the wait time. Boulder Dash definitely needed 2 trains. The wait for that was all the way back to the entrance.
  3. Little trip report from my visit yesterday. I finally got a chance to go up to this park since my friend goes to college near there. We didn't get there until around 7 and didn't get in the park until 7:30 so we were on limited time. We came mainly for Boulder Dash and the Haunted Graveyard so we made sure we did those. But first we started with Wildcat. Wasn't expecting much out of it but I have to say it was a pleasant surprise. It was a rough ride in a good way. I had more appreciation for it since it's one of the oldest operating coasters in the world. It also ended up making my top 10 woodie list. After waiting 30 minutes for Wildcat, we waited an hour for Boulder Dash. I was hoping Boulder Dash would live up to the hype. Boy did it ever! The speed and intensity of the coaster were some of the best I've ever experienced. I loved how it took advantage of the woods surrounding the ride to make the experience better. The only bad thing I would say about the ride is that it had less airtime than I was expecting. For that reason it's only my #4 woodie instead of #2 but I still love the ride. Then we did Haunted Graveyard. I wasn't really interested in this but my friends were so I did it and now I'm really glad they talked me into it. LC did a phenomenal job on this. Lots of details they mastered, great costumes used as camouflage for scarers and you get your money's worth with this being 45 minutes. Overall I'd say LC has a very nice family park on their hands. They have nostalgia as well by reminding you they're the oldest operating park, their entrance sets you up so well for the Graveyard and how can you not love free sodas?! Unfortunately those are the only 3 things I did due to short time and long lines so I hope to come back here soon to experience the rest of the park!
  4. I've actually been to both in back to back years the last 2 years so I have a recent memory for both. I would vote WDW because I feel like you can spend more days there, the resort is phenomenal and the food is in a different league. Plus WDW just has such a happy atmosphere that reminds you you're somewhere special.
  5. I usually switch to my sports side. I'm probably a bigger sports fan than coaster enthusiast so both are good. I get heavily invested in the baseball playoffs and then try to go to a few hockey games once that's over. Not to mention watching football every Sunday.
  6. I've only been to 1 park in each chain recently (went to SFOG and TGE 10 years ago) but arguably both are the best in their chains (GAdv, CP). Right now I give the edge to Six Flags for a couple reasons. I think they're a better deal $ wise especially for season passes, their lunch prices are actually cheaper from what I saw and GAdv let me re-ride coasters that had empty rows and CP didn't. I think CP is a better park than GAdv but I think I have to give an edge to Six Flags chain wise.
  7. The article was an interesting read so thanks for sharing it. I think coasters have reached the HEIGHT peak because no park wants to have the costs of maintaining a coaster like TTD or KK. So unless they can figure out how to build a more reliable coaster of that height, I don't think any park will pay a manufacturer to go for the height record. As for the overall peak I'd have to disagree with the article. RMC alone has built revolutionary coasters the past 3 years and I think there's enough technology out there to keep trying to find the next big thing and top ourselves.
  8. If you have to cut a park to fit both BGW and KD then cut Sea World. Those parks aren't really the best if you're looking for rides but they have decent shows. It really depends on what you and your group prefer.
  9. Best moment- watching Wishes again at Magic Kingdom for the first time in 12 years. Gives me goosebumps every time and was one of the happiest moments of my life. Best Individual Ride- Skyrush. Ejector airtime was insane and it took over my #1 overall coaster spot from El Toro who had it for 5 years. Funniest Moment- 2 things that involve my new friends from TPR. Me and Brendon made Emily sit in the right seat on TDK and when the horn blew at the end, it scared the crap out of her (though she claims it was the light). The other thing was seeing how scared Emily and Brendon got from Knoebels' Haunted House. Scariest Moment- waiting for the launch on Storm Runner. Having never been on a vertical launch coaster, I was nervous about this but of course it turned out to be awesome. Strangest Moment- getting stuck on Nitro for the last ride of the night. We actually ended up getting evacuated off it. Favorite Individual Park Visit- Knoebels. I never understood why everyone on TPR loved this park until I experienced it for myself. Nerdiest Moment- me and Emily credit whoring on Kozmo's Kurves in Knoebels. Best non-coaster related thing to happen in a park- see best moment. Best thing to happen on a park trip outside the park- going to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. My family and I did half WDW and half Disney Cruise and Nassau was a port on there. Atlantis was a great time. Favorite New Experience- going to parks with fellow TPR members. First time I did a park meet-up with someone from here and did 3 different parks with those 2 people who I now consider good friends .
  10. Top 10 Overall: 10. Fahrenheit 9. Incredible Hulk 8. Storm Runner 7. Manta 6. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit 5. Nitro 4. Magnum XL 200 3. Maverick 2. El Toro 1. Skyrush
  11. I didn't ride any of the new coasters this year but I'll comment based on reviews. Hades 360 seems to be the only major bust. Gatekeeper seems like what I expected it to be which was overrated before it opened and disappointing people. But I do think it's a good addition but it will never be a star attraction. I was surprised to hear Outlaw Run seperate itself from Iron Rattler. I thought those 2 would be equal in praise but OR seems to be have distinguished itself from the other RMCs. Flying Turns finally opening was great for Knoebels. Can't wait to ride that next year. Gold Striker to me seems like the biggest success besides Outlaw Run because it put CGA on the map and gave it a star attraction. Now people have a reason to go there and it's a park on the rise. Outlaw Run did the same thing in a bigger scale with SDC imo. As for YOLO, I made a bold prediction that it would surprise people and it seems like I was right. Glad SFMM got a solid coaster for their lineup and not just another number. Can't wait for Goliath in 2014!
  12. As someone mainly on their phone here, tapatalk seems great. The only issue I'm having is that I'm having trouble finding the chat. I have a habit of missing things right in front of me though. If it's not there then I'll have to go back to Safari. If it is then I will probably use tapatalk for now on. One other thing though. I can't see people's signatures on here so I hope that can be fixed.
  13. 16 for me. If it wasn't for CP that number would be cut in half.
  14. In a word, no. I probably wouldn't even wait 2 hours for a ride.
  15. 10/10 because I have the same favorite steel and wood.
  16. Hopefully it won't be busy. My friend bailed so if you want to meet up just message me.
  17. Anybody going to the park tonight? I'm thinking about going even if my friend bails on me so if that happens, I'm open to meet up with someone.
  18. 8/10 Most of your top 5 is on my bucket list and you get bonus points for the "what a season pass?".
  19. For me, Intamin wins this easily. I recognize B & M has the quantity of solid rides but I'm in love with the quality of coasters Intamin brings to the table. My top 3 overall coasters were all made by Intamin (Skyrush, El Toro, Maverick) and were the only 3 to absolutely wow me. I also have 2 other Intamins (Storm Runner, Fahrenheit) in my top 10. I also feel like Intamin is more creative and willing to take bigger risks with their coasters while I feel B & M plays it safe too much. So combined with those reasons, I'd say I'm an Intamin fanboy.
  20. ^^100% this. I honestly have a hard time ranking parks. It's hard enough for me to rank CP, Hershey and GAdv but when you're trying to put WDW and Uni in that list, you just make a difficult task practically impossible. There are very little things you can honestly compare between CP and WDW so I would 100% support the seperation of amusement parks and theme parks into different categories because both are great but in so different ways that they really can't be compared. I even think parks like Knoebels and Morey's Piers should have their own category because I love them but have a very hard time comparing those to big amusement parks or theme parks.
  21. Millennium Force. I find the ride incredibly overrated but a lot of people rank it as their #1 coaster. People do have the same opinion as me but I feel that more people love it than find it overrated.
  22. I'm pretty sure I've only been on GAdv Bizarro and Kraken so out of those 2 I would say Kraken is the best. It's very smooth, has surprisingly good airtime and maintains a nice pace through the ride. Not to mention the headchoppers.
  23. This has been by far my best year for parks but my list may be nothing to some people. Six Flags Great Adventure (5x) Magic Kingdom Animal Kingdom EPCOT Hollywood Studios SeaWorld Orlando Knoebels Hersheypark It's been a great year
