The NHL Discussion Thread
yankeeman311 replied to Dailey Enterprizes's topic in Random, Random, Random
As a Devils fan, I'm rooting for the Hawks to win because well, I have $ on them lol. I picked them to win the Cup in a bracket challenge pool. Not a great start so far with 2 tough losses but I still believe they can come back. -
Ride Bucket List
yankeeman311 replied to Evanaj15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My top 10 sought after credits would probably be this: 1. Outlaw Run- arranged a trip to Missouri in May primarily because this coaster is there 2. Goliath (SFGam) 3. Intimidator 305 4. Iron Rattler 5. New Texas Giant 6. Expedition GeForce 7. Voyage 8. Colossos (Heide Park) 9. Bizarro (SFNE) 10. Tatsu -
^I have to agree about Nitro. I don't view it in the same way I did 2-3 years ago. The rattling on Train C is very concerning. It's still a good ride but now I don't view it close to El Toro anymore. I just think it's no longer a great ride and can fall down in my personal rankings eventually. It's a sad day to think about the possibility of Nitro being out of its prime.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

El Toro. Great coaster to end your day with especially in the back row . -
Favorite Coaster from Each Decade
yankeeman311 replied to Woodie Warrior's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1920s- Wildcat (Lake Compounce) 1940s- Comet (Hersheypark) 1960s- Blue Streak (Cedar Point) 1970s- Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom) 1980s- Magnum XL 200 (Cedar Point) 1990s- Incredible Hulk (Islands of Adventure) 2000s- El Toro (Six Flags Great Adventure) 2010s- Skyrush (Hersheypark) I honestly am happy with the variety of decades I have here. Is it me or was the 1990s a bad decade for coasters? -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
yankeeman311 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know it's early for these questions but for those who rode Banshee where would you rank it among B&M inverts and where would you rank it in terms of best rides in KI? Also someone asked this before and I didn't see it get answered so I'll ask again, what do you need in order to get into a media day? Was hoping to find a way to get into Zumanjaro's media day which is why I'm curious. -
This would be my best advice for 4 weekends. Get a SF Pass. For the route you're taking this is more worth it imo. If you're sticking almost exclusively to SF parks then here's my route: Weekend 1: SFNE, GAdv and SFA only if you really feel the need. Explore NYC, Philly and DC if you have the time/$. Weekend 2: I believe CP/KI have a deal that lets you buy a pass to those 2 parks. If that's the case, do CP Friday and Saturday then KI on Sunday and Columbus Day. Weekend 3: SFGam and SFStl. If you have the extra $ I'd add SDC to this weekend or replace it with SFStl. Weekend 4: SFOT and SFFT. With this route you can get up to 9 SF Parks and 2 of the best CF parks for the cheapest price. Plus a SF pass is almost $100 cheaper than a CF pass.

Little trip report from today. This was my second visit of the year and me and my friend got to the park at about 2:30. Didn't know this til later but there was a Jewish concert at the park today that probably increased crowds. Since El Toro had a 2 hour wait, we decided to start with Bizarro. It was about a 20 minute wait and I actually had my best ride in a while on it. BIG shoutout to the Bizarro crew today. They were absolutely flying. I've never seen them go so fast and they actually were only single stacking for once. I don't know what they changed today but whatever it was keep it up. We then got our ride on RMT before taking the Skyride to the other side. We went on Dark Knight and I noticed a few things weren't turned on for the ride. This is still by far the best themed coaster in the park though. Next was a 50 minute wait for Nitro where we saw the departure of Nitro Weave. I also noticed a ridiculous amount of rattling today compared to Saturday on the ride. I feel like I was on Train C today though admittedly I didn't pay attention. We finished off the day with a backseat ride on Toro. I have to say this is the best I've seen this ride run in April lately. I feel like it's in summer mode. Overall pretty nice day at the park despite only 7 rides. Sorry but I have no pictures.

I haven't read the books but my speculation is the prince's brother killed Joffrey that came for the wedding and hates Lannisters. He has motive to blame Tyrian in order to kill 2 Lannisters with 1 move. Also the Hound is quickly becoming 1 of my favorite characters. He's so misunderstood but I think he's the most realistic too about the world he lives in.

^They might've been looking but just didn't show it since Spencer has it. Also I don't think the Yul idol will come into play until after Spencer uses the normal idol.

Very pleased to see Maverick continue its climb to the top. It looks like it's finally getting the praise it deserves making a statement this year. My 2 highest rated steel coasters finished 5 and 6 in the poll so glad to see them do well and me riding 2 of the best coasters in the world. Also seeing Bizarro slip a little. I believe this is the first year it's been lower than #3 so that's also a big result. Did anybody notice Diamondback is in the 40s? Also I find it amazing TTD is ranked 18th and KK is 75th. I haven't ridden either but I feel like there's some CP bias there. 1 last thing, I'm not sure where X2 was last year but I feel like it moved up this year being 21st.

^I was actually on a train Saturday when a phone went flying right over our heads near the back. Not sure if this was the incident of a guy getting hit in the face or not but I saw it on Superman too. Completely agree about the bag issue. Also my friend brought his water bottle and put it near the bottle stands on half our rides and nobody seemed to care. I feel like people don't realize good povs come from mounted cameras, not cell phones. My philosophy has always been that you only have a chance at a good video in the front row and even then it probably won't come out good by an amateur with a cell phone. Not to mention it ruins the ride experience.

I was at the park today as well. The park was honestly more crowded than I expected it to be. That may have been just because Kingda Ka wasn't open but there were actually decent waits at times. For instance I saw El Toro's line backed up all the way to the 120 min sign and waited almost an hour for Superman. Got into the park at 11:30. Went to El Toro first and I gotta say I like the new view. In typical opening day fashion it broke down and me and my friend were the next ones to ride. We waited a bit, left and then we saw it open 10-15 min later. We did Bizarro instead as the first ride of the year. After that we had lunch, rode SkyScreamer and then did 2 laps on Nitro. I talked to who I'm pretty sure was an ACEr in line when I saw his I305 shirt. Also happened to see a TPR couple about 10 people in front of me with WCB shirts. Day wrapped up nicely by finally getting back to El Toro. I love the direction Six Flags is going in with biometric entry and ecoupons. Both should be nice positives for the park. All in all not a bad day but you could definitely tell it was opening day with El Toro inconsistent in the beginning of the day, Dark Knight was closed, Green Lantern and Superman getting stuck and employees learning. The day was also filled with some GP moments. Caught a dude saying Rolling Thunder was the oldest coaster when RMT is still in operation, someone asked what the name of SkyScreamer was while in line for the ride, people on Nitro's line took forever moving in the queue which me and the WCB couple shook our heads about and a phone was lost on El Toro going fast right over our heads. The guys behind me told a team member and they made an announcement about not having phones out right after. I only took a couple pictures but here they are:

Woman marries ferris wheel.
yankeeman311 replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Someone can legally marry a ferris wheel but not someone of the same sex. Florida logic folks. -
I actually think the many storylines is what makes the show great. A lot of characters are important and this show does a better job than most at splitting airtime for characters so that each has the perfect amount. Robb getting the backstab is something that shocked me but we should've seen it coming. Fray was acting way too cool for Robb fucking him over, half his army was lost and marrying that girl caused conflict in his own army by one dude telling him he made the biggest mistake in the war marrying that girl. Man was she hot though. And thank you for making this thread. It's about time TPR had a Game of Thrones thread lol.

^The closest person I've ever seen to pulling that off is Cesternino. He flipped on the guys then flipped on Alex and the girls, flipped on Christy then finally got Heidi out. Had Matthew not thrown the final immunity he actually would've gotten away with everything he did. I actually think LJ is playing a better game than Tony with the exception of wasting his idol last episode. He's a lot quieter and doesn't slip nearly as much information as Tony but does just as much damage. He has a strong chance of winning imo. I can definitely see him screwing over Tony in the end or beating him in the finals.

I know you already made your choice but I would've went with #1 myself because you not only save money but make the later days of your vacation much easier. I personally like getting the traveling out of the way on Day 1 because that's what Day 1 is- a traveling day. But have fun with whatever you do.
