  1. I honestly think Kass has a long-term plan with this. I can't see her ending up like Cochran when he flipped. Kass seems smart enough to realize she's 6th at best in her new group so I truly believe she will flip back and she got Sara out because she was a threat to her game. Everybody has been saying Kass threw away a solid F3 but I'm calling bullshit on that because I think the Brains would've been broken up led by Sara because I don't think the cast would've been stupid enough to let them do that. I know this looks like a terrible move but I think Kass will get out of this mess and do damage control.
  2. I find myself to be one of the few enthusiasts that doesn't like Batman. Personally I find the ride too intense to enjoy because I always walk off it in some kind of pain. I'm not a huge fan of inverts in general but Great Nor Easter is a much better ride imo. It creates a more out of control feeling rather than forceful like Batman and with the new trains I don't walk off the ride in pain. As for Bizarro being better than Batman I completely agree there but I'm gonna throw in Superman and give it some love as the best coaster after the big 3. I know it's the shortest ride with the least elements but no inversion beats the feeling of the pretzel loop to me which is really the point of riding it.
  3. In big parks everywhere, we all look at 1 or 2 coasters to be headliners to attract people to the park and a third coaster as a solid second tier to make the coaster depth seem more attractive. I don't see this anywhere so I thought I would ask people what park they think has the best trio of roller coasters? I'll start with my answer of Hersheypark. To me there is no better coaster trio than the Intamin Trio at HP. Skyrush has insane ejector airtime, Storm Runner has a great launch and drop while Fahrenheit holds its own with a beyond vertical drop, unique layout and surprising pops of airtime. That's my favorite. What's yours?
  4. Don't nix Simpsons. As a college kid myself I actually think it's one of their best attractions. It has great theming, funny moments, nice storyline and it's actually a great simulator. For me it'll be a must do every time I go back to the park.
  5. I think SFOG has 2 big problems when it comes to attracting enthusiasts. The first is that they're really the only big park in the area. SFOG is a good distance from the Florida parks and 4 hours from Carowinds and Dollywood. This makes it harder for enthusiasts to plan vacations around that park. Not to mention Atlanta isn't a huge tourist city compared to others either. The second problem is there's no BIG draw to southeast parks compared to other regions. I mean SFOG's main draw is Goliath. The coaster has a great reputation but the problem is there's no reason to make this a priority considering a lot of other Six Flags parks have a B & M hyper. Not to mention Dollywood's main draw is a woodie that's ranked behind the Northeast ones and Carowinds has Intimidator and Afterburn but neither are the priority for their type of coaster.
  6. I personally love Maverick's restraints because of how loose they are but my friend had issues with the ride because of the neck pains others have complained about. I think that's more because of how sudden and tight Maverick's turns are. My best advice is to brace your head by leaning it the same direction as the turn. Once I did that I couldn't feel a thing but even my first ride my neck barely bothered me.
  7. Cedar Point. You can start to see it from 15-20 minutes away and it really feels like amusement park heavan crossing the bridge into the peninsula. Not to mention it looks like clouds cover it a little from far away.
  8. Just an update. It's very unlikely I'll be doing WOF since my dad has made it clear he doesn't want to do 3 amusement parks. Also I went back on SDC's website and noticed 2 things I didn't see before. The first is that SDC has a deal where if you show up after 3, you can go for free the next day too. I find it cool that they have a preview plan like Hershey especially since I would get to Branson around 3 the day before if I drove straight there. The other thing I noticed is the Trailblazer Pass. I guess my questions are should I do an extra 3-4 hours at SDC on day 1 instead of SFStl? Is the Trailblazer Pass worth it the day before Memorial Day? Any advice would be appreciated as is all the advice so far .
  9. Guys I wasn't calling Raptor forceless. I was saying it fulfills the role of the middle coaster at Cedar Point along with Gatekeeper. Basically they're not in that core 4 group but it's still reliable with nothing to really complain about from most.
  10. Just to comment on Bizarro, I happen to fall in the camp of it being an ok coaster. Nothing to write home about but nothing really to complain about either. It's a ride you can ride once or twice and know what you're getting. I agree with the previous statement about it going a little slow. I rode Kraken and seemed to like it a lot better as I have it in my top 15 vs. barely top 30 for Bizarro. I feel like with a little more force this could be a much better ride. I look at Bizarro as the stereotypical B & M. The safe and reliable forceless coaster that won't turn heads. It fills the role of the middle coaster. Every big park needs 1 or 2 of these. CP has Gatekeeper and Raptor, Hershey has Great Bear, SFOG has Mind Bender, etc.
  11. Just a quick question. If you're on a team do you still have to raise your own $75 or does it just have to average $75 per person on the team?
  12. Here's how I would rank the popularity of the 7 big coasters as a season pass holder: 1. El Toro- fastest operations in the park with huge capacity yet they can still get 90 min lines. This also attracts a ton of enthusiast tourists. 2. Kingda Ka- this is the coaster that attracts GP tourists and gets more people in the park. The reason I have it lower than Toro is because people tend to fall in love with that once they ride it. Plus this has more downtime. 3. Nitro- the only reason people go to the back of the park. Great capacity with easy operations due to no seatbelts and it's a ride highly regarded in the park. 4. Superman- this coaster has slower operations than the top 3 but I tend to see the most lines for this. The pretzel loop is great and it keeps me and the GP coming back. Location might benefit this though being in the front of the park but GASM eventually got no lines in the front. 5. Green Lantern- this could fall but right now they still have the new factor as it's only been in GAdv for 3 years. This coaster probably has the fastest operations outside the big 3 and you don't see walk-ons too often here. 6. Batman- it's the oldest big coaster in the park that I think has too many Gs for me and many others. Enthusiasts that can handle the Gs love it but the queue isn't pleasant to wait in and it has slower operations plus there's no wow factor that makes people go back in line. 7. Bizarro- I rarely see lines for this ride unless the park is really busy. They have the slowest ops in the park so that decreases ride capacity even more. I do think you can say location hurts this ride but you can make the argument that if it was that great of a ride, people would go to it since Nitro is on the other corner of the park and it's popular.
  13. I'm only counting big coasters that I missed. Most of these are quite simply because it took me a while to get braver for coasters and for some I'm just intimidated by that type of coaster. So I'm simply chicken. Great Escape: Comet Boomerang Steamin Demon SFOG: B: TR S: UF Deja Vu Georgia Scorcher Mind Bender Ninja ^Those were all when I was 9-10 before I started going on looping coasters. With the exception of maybe Deja Vu (yes I know it's closed now) I could do these no problem now. Other missed credits: Zoomerang (Lake Compounce)- went during haunt, park was so crowded I didn't have time for this Sea Serpent (Moreys Piers)- haven't been there in 4 years and didn't conquer boomerangs at the time Kingda Ka- this has been a decade long battle now Top Thrill Dragster- everything about this ride intimidates me Wicked Twister- I'm never comftorable going backwards at a fast pace so I'm not sure how I'd react to this
  14. I'm not saying it's better than Hershey by any means. I just think it's a hidden gem in New Jersey that not enough enthusiasts know about. To me it's like the boardwalk version of Knoebels. It's in a great beachtown with it being the best boardwalk park on the east coast and possibly the world. To defend their coasters they probably have the best SLC/Invert in the area and Great White is an incredible nightime experience with surprising airtime. But if it's between that and Hershey, go to Hershey. But you should take my advice about doing Dorney/Knoebels at the end. You'll save yourself a lot of travel time on the last day plus you'll be closer to Waldy without really having longer travel time on previous days.
  15. If you have 10 days then I'm just gonna give you 3 bits of advice. -It takes 3 hours to get from SFA to Morey's Piers. Moreys has great flats and 3 decent coasters so I really feel like that park deserves 4 hours so you should consider just spending the remainder of day 4 there after SFA instead of traveling for minor credits. -I suggest changing your Dorney/Knoebels day from day 6 to day 9. The reason for this is it'll cut your travel time to Waldameer from over 7 hours to only 4.5 hours on the last day while not costing you any time in previous days. -Imo Hersheypark is the best park in this area so I really question why you're skipping it in favor of other parks. The Intamin Trio there is probably the best trio of coasters in one park. I would personally make sure this is included because I'm not sure what you realize you're missing out on. With Waldy being so far out of the way you could do this over that to make traveling easier.
  16. I'm from the Jersey area so I think I can give you good advice. First off I HIGHLY recommend adding Morey's Piers to your list of parks. It's in a fantastic beachtown called Wildwood in the very south of New Jersey. It's the best boardwalk park around and is consistently voted one of the 5 best in the world. This is also beneficial as sort of a rest day if you like beaches. Trust me on a long trip you need a slow day in the middle. You can fit this in between SFA and GAdv. I agree with the previous statement about skipping Coney Island unless you REALLY want the Cyclone credit or you're visiting NYC. There's really nothing else in that park and it can be difficult to get there with NY traffic and roads. If you insist on going try doing it by subway rather than driving. I have no idea how many days you have for this but just based on my suggestions here's my recommended itinerary: Day 1- KI, Drive to Williamsburg Day 2- BGW Day 3- KD Day 4- SFA, Drive to Wildwood Day 5- Morey's Piers Day 6- GAdv Day 7- Lake Compounce, Quassy Day 8- SFNE Day 9- Knoebels/Dorney Day 10- Knoebels/Dorney, drive to Hershey for preview Day 11- Hersheypark Day 12- Waldameer Day 13- Drive home I recommend doing the Pennsylvania parks last if you take my advice on going to Moreys Piers. They're more on the way to where you need to go and GAdv is the closest to Wildwood with going to LC on the same highway as GAdv. Good luck with your plans!
  17. Assuming I can get a friend to do it with me there's a good chance I'll be doing it at Dorney.
  18. How does that equal B&M? I would think if anything Intamin would be the quality. B&M has more coasters but Intamin's coasters are more regarded as the elite in the world.
  19. For steel I'm gonna throw Intamin's name in there because they have the most quality coasters regarded as the best in the world. For wood I'm going to say RMC because they're defying the definition of wooden coaster and taking them to heights none of us ever thought it could go.
  20. I'm gonna toss another park in here that hasn't really been talked about. Keep in mind I have no knowledge of how much these parks make so this is more of a gut feeling. My prediction would be Six Flags America. My reason behind this is their location. They're right in the middle of 4 very popular parks in Hershey, GAdv, BGW and KD not to mention various boardwalk parks. SFA doesn't exactly have the best reputation, they haven't had a new coaster that wasn't used by another park in a decade and they're very close to one of their company's most popular parks. I'm not saying this will happen anytime soon but if Six Flags ever needs to dump more land, I can very easily see this being the next park to go.
  21. I think my problem with Millennium Force is that I'm an airtime junkie. The sensation of speed isn't enough for me to rank it high. My top 5 wooden coasters are what I feel have the best airtime of the ones I've been on, Skyrush tops my steel list for having insane airtime and Magnum/Nitro both have very solid airtime to put them high on my list. The lone exception for me seems to be Maverick which isn't an airtime coaster but I also love the feeling of being out of control which that coaster does better than any other I've been on. Millennium Force has very minimal airtime and fails to provide that out of control feeling for me. It's just a fast coaster that the wind annoys me on. My point is it really all depends on what sensations you prefer. If you love speed like Bill, Milly is your coaster. If you love airtime like me then Skyrush and El Toro are going to be your rides.
  22. I have about 54 operating steel credits, 45 of which were represented in my ballot. Small list I know but I think my top 10 is still decent so here it is: 10. Superman: Ultimate Flight- what can I say? I'm a sucker for the pretzel loop. That inversion on this ride is my favorite inversion so it carries it up this high. 9. Fahrenheit- part of the best trio there is in the Intamin trio, sometimes this coaster gets overshadowed by the other 2 members of the trio when I clearly think this coaster deserves to be a legitimate member of that trio. Intimidating lift with a very unique layout. 8. Incredible Hulk- nice story to the ride especially well represented on the launch (which is awesome) that goes into a nice barrell roll. Also nice view in the cobra roll and the ride doesn't really slow down too much. 7. Storm Runner- great launch coaster with bonus elements after. 6. Manta- love pretzel loops but unlike S: UF, it actually keeps up a nice pace the whole ride. 5. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit- this seems to be a love it or hate it ride but I personally love the experience the music on this ride gives you. Plus it has arguably the scariest lift out there and a nice not quite upside down loop that gives you a nice view of IOA. 4. Nitro- very comftorable restraints, great view of the woods, a master of floater airtime and just a nice setting overall really makes this a great ride experience. 3. Magnum XL 200- I think the surprise ejector airtime won me over on this coaster especially in the tunnels. 2. Maverick- probably the biggest out of control feeling I've had on a coaster. Don't let the size fool you, it'll make you skip more heartbeats than coasters triple its size (*cough* Mill Force *cough*) 1. Skyrush- insane ejector airtime. Sure the restraints aren't the most comftorable in the world but when you experience that airtime, trust me the restraints are justified. Other notables: El Toro- my favorite wooden coaster that I ranked #2 on my ballot. Millennium Force- this coaster was ranked 18th on my ballot behind coasters like Gemini, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest and Great Nor Easter. Some may question that but to me, this coaster is very overrated. I don't hate the ride but I definitely don't think it deserves to be considered the best coaster in the world. It's just all speed and no airtime.
  23. Honestly the Great Nor Easter is the best SLC/invert I've ever ridden. I prefer it to all the B&M inverts I've ridden (Batman, Great Bear, Raptor, Dragon Challenge). It's more intense than the last 3, isn't really rough and doesn't have the Gs that hurt your legs like Batman does. As for Great White I think it's at least a middle of the pack but imo an above average woodie. Personally it's in my top 5 woodies though I have a small list. The views and surprising airtime are both plusses for me but you have to ride this at night because it's one of those coasters that has a special nighttime ride experience with the view of the beach and the look of the ride.
  24. Not sure how many people have been on this one but for me it's Great White at Moreys Piers. Coaster opens with a small 25 foot drop into this tunnel which is under the boardwalk and the coaster makes a ton of noise. It has sentimental value to me.
  25. For me its Forbidden Journey. Best queue I've ever been in, greatly themed area and the ride experience is fantastic. All the die-hard Potter fans I was with loved it and I did too. Simpsons, HRRR, Hulk, Dr. Doom and Mummy get honorable mentions. Also I'm probably in the minority here but I find the Spiderman ride to be outdated and overrated. I just wasn't impressed with it to be considered the best ride in the park when I went on it. I'm not even sure if it would be in my top 10. Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I just am curious why people love this ride so much.
