  6. The poster above me kind of stole my thunder but I agree 100% with him. Out of the big 3 local parks, I would say Dorney definitely has the best flat collection. The problem is the 2 other parks offer decent inverteds and megas so missing Steel Force and Talon won 't kill anybody when you have Nitro, Skyrush, Great Bear, Batman and more available. With coasters that are elite in the world at both Hershey and Six Flags, I would say Dorney needs a defining coaster to draw people to the park like RF2 does for Waldameer, Boulder Dash does for Lake Compounce, Outlaw Run for SDC, Phoenix for Knoebels, etc. There's plenty of people around here for Dorney to compete but they need to give people a reason to visit.
  7. I know this is an old topic but 1 thing I'd suggest is to fly into Philadelphia instead of New York unless you want to tour NYC. Flying into Philly will save you a lot of driving time. It's closer to Jackson and you'll save 2 hours of driving back from Doswell. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your trip planning!
  8. Thought I'd give a little trip report for my visit today at the park. The weather did not look promising. It was pouring when I left my house and my friends really doubted me about going to the park today. I told them it's the best time to go in the summer because the weather report would scare everybody away. Turns out I was 100% right! We got to the park at 11:30 and rode El Toro 3x to start the day. It rained on the first ride and it was 1 of the best runs I ever had on Toro. Also my first time riding it in the rain. We then went on Bizarro 2x and took the Skyride to Nitro. We tried to ride Nitro in pouring rain but it always let up when we were on it. We wanted it in pouring rain too so it was like Mother Nature was messing with us because it always poured right after or right before we got on. We then went on Batman before we ate lunch. After lunch we walked around and rode El Toro 1 more time because Superman was closed. We then went back on Skyride and rode Sky Screamer and Skull Mountain twice before leaving for the day. We left just before 4. Overall very solid day at the park. It was very empty and we enjoyed having that luxury on a summer day. I was also happy to have bragging rights about my gamble to still go despite the weather paying off. Kind of showed them my knowledge as an enthusiast a little bit. Well more of great advice from other enthusiasts but it was still nice. Operations were not at their best as Superman and Rolling Thunder were closed the whole day, Kingda Ka and Nitro had downtime and Nitro and Bizarro only ran 2 trains. But I'll give them a pass on this because the park was very empty today and they kept most of their coasters open with dark clouds and pouring rain. Here's my run count for the day. I think it's pretty solid for 4 hours. Nitro 5x El Toro 4x Bizarro 2x Skull Mountain 2x Skyride 2x Batman 1x SkyScreamer 1x
  9. Already Visited: Six Flags Great Adventure Magic Kingdom EPCOT Animal Kingdom Hollywood Studios Sea World Orlando Will Visit: Dorney Park Hersheypark Hoping to Visit: Knoebels
  10. Yes they call everyone an enthusiast. There are a few legitimate enthusiasts though on the show. Like the girl on Tatsu, the blonde girl on Skyrush and the girl on Superman: Ride of Steel. I think the groups are best when they're like announcers. Basically one person doesn't ride as many coasters and gets more exciting reactions for parts of the ride and another person that's a legitimate enthusiast that can analyze the ride positively but can keep it in perspective. When sports announcers do this, the analyst gets less excited by plays because he's played before and knows what's tough or not. Same thing for enthusiasts. Harder to please them then the GP because we tend to know better if the ride is legitimate. That's why I think it's perfect to try to find groups with at least 1 of each to have 2 different perspectives.
  11. 1. I would say it depends on what you'd rather do. If you go to Toro first, you can probably go on 3-5 times walking on before a line starts. The downside to that is there's a longer line for Ka than you would for Toro. If you only need 1 ride on each, I'd say do Ka first because that gets crowded quicker and Toro has a shorter wait. So if you want more runs, go to Toro first. If you want a less lengthy wait, go to Ka first. 2. Since you're only staying until 1 or 2, I would say you can skip flash pass if you only need the Big 3. It'll be difficult to get Superman and Green Lantern in without it (though I'd say Green Lantern isn't worth it). 3. Depends on the ride. Most put you right in the entrance of the queue except Ka which puts you a little before that. Hope this helps.
  12. Why would they want to fix something that makes their ride look better?
  13. As someone that just got back from WDW, I will tell you it's possible to do 4 parks in 1 day but very difficult. My best advice is to tell you to go to Epcot first. It should take you less than an hour to ride Soarin and Test Track. Then go to AK. Get a fastpass for Kilimanjaro. Go on Everest while you wait. Then get a fastpass to Rapids before you go to Kilimanjaro. Finally ride Dinosaur. After you're done with those, you should be looking at about 2 pm. Then go to HS. Get a fastpass for Rockin Rollercoaster AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! That coaster is far more popular than the other 2 rides. I would do Tower of Terror while you wait and after both ride Star Tours. Then you should be looking at about 6 or 7 pm. Head to Magic Kingdom. Wait until the very end of the day to ride Peter Pan. Its crowded and not worth getting a fastpass early. I'd head to Space Mountain first, then go to the other side of the park to ride Splash Mountain and BTMR. If you ride stuff during the Electrical Parade and Wishes, you should have a much shorter line for these rides. Close out your day with It's a Small World and Peter Pan. Make sure you get out of Tomorrowland before the Electric Parade starts otherwise it's very difficult to get to the other side. Like I said, this can be done but it's very difficult. You really have to have a game plan and be prepared to skip meals or eat very quickly. I hope this helps.
  14. I feel like this episode is already a drastic improvement over last season. I don't know many international coasters so I'm glad I got exposed to the one in Spain. I personally think that one should've won. Formula Rossa looks better than I thought when I first saw it. I also like the more clear voting system this season. I'm not sure how Aftershock or Desperado won last year. The coasters already seem like they improved in quality too so basically I have a very positive review for this episode. Can't wait for the next one.
  15. And that's why you watch it on NBC Sports, CNBC or NHL Network.
  16. I would strongly argue John Tavares for Hart Trophy. Im a Devils fan and remember the Isles were in last In the East last year. Now they're a hot playoff team on a mission thanks to the leadership of Tavares. Isles don't make the playoffs without him. I'd give it to him for turning his team around in the best way. Hes quickly becoming an elite player in hockey.
  17. Compared to larger parks, Morey's Piers is empty pretty much all the time. Nothing should be more than a 20-30 minute wait and that's on the busiest days so you're good.
  18. I'm excited that Yankee Stadium is finally going to be involved. I think this is a positive and a negative. A positive because it allows teams like the Devils (who are my team), Isles snd Ducks to be involved in outdoor games when we all know those teams would NEVER be in the Winter Classic. It's a negative because it does hurt the uniqueness and specialty of the Winter Classic though. Like I said, I support this mainly because Yankee Stadium can never have the Winter Classic so I'm excited we can finally be involved and my Devils can play in an outdoor game .
  19. Yes because I drove 9 hours for it and had fun. Is Voyage seriously better than El Toro?
  20. I can do weekdays no problem. Honestly I'm less available on the weekends so that's perfect.
