Diggerland Theme Park in New Jersey
yankeeman311 replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^I've passed by that building for years. They built it about 7-8 years ago but apparently the investment turned into a big bust. It's right next to Metlife Stadium too so it's a damn shame something productive didn't come out of that. My dad hates that building with a passion because of the design. Calling it the ugliest building in NJ is a stretch when you have Newark, Camden and Atlantic City though. -

Appreciate the idea. Me and my family are actually already planning on going to LA and Vegas in 2015. Just waiting until I turn 21. Definitely going to hit up a couple of parks and stadiums during that. -

Appreciate all the advice. Talked to my dad last night about what I wanted to do and he was ok with the idea. We decided to go with option 4 partly because of all the recommendations for it. We're going to St. Louis, Kansas City and Silver Dollar City (still surprised I talked him into this). Nothing is pinned down yet but this seems very likely to happen. Can't wait to ride Outlaw Run! -
^To me, the only way Monica or Gervase can win is if they vote against Tyson and take the RI winner to the final 3. Tyson and Ciera would both definitely beat them. I think Monica made the right move last episode but it seems like Gervase thinks he has a shot against Tyson so I can't see any of this happening.

I don't 'get' TTD or Kingda Ka

I think it also has to do with upkeep. It's difficult enough as it is to supply the maintenance costs for both of these coasters as they are. Imagine how much more it would probably be if there were a few elements too. -
What's the worst station you've been in

El Toro's annoys the hell out of me. People refuse to say excuse me and push their way through so the whole queue gets backed up meanwhile the back half of the train is empty. -
Im also a big user of the chat. Me and this little group talk regularly on there and are all pretty good friends. It's one of the only reasons why I still come on this website to be honest.

My rankings of the coasters I've ridden here: 1. Maverick 2. Magnum XL 200 3. Blue Streak 4. Gemini 5. Millennium Force 6. Corkscrew 7. Raptor 8. Disaster Transport 9. Mantis 10. Iron Dragon 11. Mean Streak A couple of comments. I found MF to be disappointing and overrated. My top 3 I find phenomenal and Maverick is in my overall top 3. Gemini is a pretty fun family coaster and Corkscrew packs in a nice punch. I prefer Mantis over Green Lantern any day of the week.

Being a GAdv season pass holder for the last 5 years I think I can add to this discussion. First of all GAdv has A LOT more competition than BGW. They have Dorney, Knoebels, Wildwood, several other Jersey boardwalks, Coney Island, Lake Compounce, NYC and Philly to compete with. BGW really just has KD and DC with maybe Virginia Beach. But they also have more people in the area. I believe GAdv is an above average park. I've been here on slow days plenty of times and 95% of the time I've seen multiple train operation. Also their coaster collection is tough to beat with having the Big 3 and all of them being very high-profile coasters. Flat rides have been a problem but over the past 3 years they've added Bumper Cars, SkyScreamer, Safari Off-Road Adventure and Zumanjaro to help with that. Nevertheless, GAdv admittedly does have 2-3 big holes in their park they need to fix. But they have the cheapest season pass for what you get. We have to remember GAdv is an AMUSEMENT park so we can't compare it to Disney or Uni. Hell not even BGW. GAdv worries more about their rides then the theming for them which I really don't have a problem with because of the quality of coasters there. I think what Robb said before is completely accurate. We don't care about theming in amusement parks because the rides make up for it but when it's there, it's spectacular. They're just 2 different ways of operating a park and some people just prefer one to the other or can enjoy both equally. As for me I enjoy both but love parks like Hershey the most that can pull off both.

I'll probably be doing 1 of these 4 scenarios next year. It's going to be a baseball/roller coaster trip for me. Option 1: Day 1: Drive from Jersey to Toronto with a stop at Niagara Falls Day 2: Canada's Wonderland and Blue Jays game Day 3: Hockey HOF and drive back to Jersey Option 2: Day 1: Drive from Jersey to Pittsburgh for Pirates game. Day 2: Drive to Detroit for Tigers game. Day 3: Drive to Cleveland (maybe a trip to CP before this) for Indians game. Day 4: Drive to Kings Island and then Reds game. Day 5: Drive back to Jersey. Option 3: Day 1: Drive from Jersey to Chicago Day 2: SFGam Day 3: White Sox game and maybe tour Chicago Day 4: Drive to Milwaukee for Brewers game Day 5: Drive home to Jersey Option 4: Day 1: Drive from Jersey to Kansas City Day 2: Royals game and drive to Silver Dollar City Day 3: SDC and drive to St. Louis Day 4: Cardinals game and explore St. Louis Day 5: Drive home to Jersey Any advice on which option you think is best/realistic is welcomed and appreciated. We're trying to keep the trip under 3K.

^Kim and Cochran both had that type of edit too. Ciera's move last episode really sealed up a Tyson win imo.

And why is it you don't want to share your thoughts? You got to love that he won't say who. That way no matter who wins he can say they knew it. Honestly it was because I didn't want to spoil the season for others. I'll say now if you don't believe me. Since episode 4 I've thought Tyson was looking like the clear winner. They've emphasized all his moves, shown no negatives of his game and had a nice winner's quote about his sister when she lost in RI. I will be shocked if I end up being wrong about that. The edit for Cochran's win was strong and obvious too.

Where Are You Planning To Go In 2014?
yankeeman311 replied to azza29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Honestly 2014 is mostly still being planned for me. It won't be a huge year though because my family is trying to save money for a big trip to the LA/LV area in 2015. Virtually nothing is locked right now so I'll give my optimistic list. A * means it's a new park for me. Definitely: Six Flags Great Adventure Dorney Park* Hersheypark Likely: Six Flags New England* Knoebels 1 of Canada's Wonderland, Kings Island, Silver Dollar City or Six Flags Great America depending on what city I take my summer trip to (any would be a new park). Hopefully: Lake Compounce Quassy* Six Flags America* Morey's Piers -
Neither will ever happen. Playoff games make extra revenue for teams and if you let the west get more spots, it creates a competitive balance problem (ironic I know). The real problem with the NBA is the soft cap. The soft cap allows it to be a league run by superstars and creates a few stacked teams but several horrible teams thus resulting in a lack of parity and a focus on dynasties.

I can think of 10,000 reasons why Colton will be at the reunion. I don't think it's fair to say he quit the first time since it seemed like he was in some pain but unfortunately he didn't change the 2nd time. He was worse to watch this time around imo because he acted like more of a baby and sore loser this time.

I'm personally a very big fan of the show and have enjoyed it more than most of the recent seasons. Though I think the edit has made the winner look very obvious. I figured it out pretty early without spoilers but I won't say who I think it is.

I would appreciate if people that are fans of baseball and roller coasters to give me trip advice. I'm a Yankees fan from NJ and me and my dad plan to travel to a MLB stadium next year and I hope to hit up at least 1 amusement park around that city. So I just want your opinions on which trip idea sounds best. Keep in mind I've never been to any of these stadiums or parks. 1. Toronto- 2 nights, main attractions being Rogers Centre, Niagara Falls, Canada's Wonderland and Hockey HOF, dates would be 6/22-6/24 2. Great Lakes- 4 nights, main attractions being Kings Island, Great American Ballpark, Comerica Park and Progressive Field (maybe CP too if I do some real begging though I've been there before), dates would be 7/6-7/10 3. Chicago- 4 nights, main attractions being US Cellular Field, Miller Park and SFGam (Cubs are on road on days I would go), dates would be 5/23-5/27 4. Midwest- at least 4 nights, main attractions being Silver Dollar City, Kauffman Stadium, Busch Stadium and maybe City Museum, dates would be around 5/24-5/28

I thought of this idea when I went on youtube to watch povs to see what songs go best with some popular coasters. I did this partly because I loved having this option on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit so I thought it would be cool if more coasters had this option. The game is basically name a coaster and a song that would go best with it if you ride it with a song. You can even write a little something as to why you think a certain combination would work. I'll start. El Toro- Livin' La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin I feel this song fits the Spanish theme very well and represents a wild adventure which is exactly what El Toro gives you. Can't wait to hear some other songs for coasters!

Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
yankeeman311 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That makes sense. We actually got stuck on the lift hill for a couple of minutes and slightly rolled backwards.
