  1. Intamin: Maverick B&M: Diamondback
  2. They do indeed still do a sort of Euclid Beach memories event. A lot of people will go too. Sadly, my problem is I can just sense some thrills in the space's history and I just want to jump in a time machine, anytime I'm there.
  3. The entranceway is still standing but it's definitely sad living so close and knowing what used to be there. I live just west of E. 156th, maybe 200 feet away from the old west entrance. sigh.... I'm quite glad to see this beauty back up & running again near it's home though!
  4. I've been thinking of where they could put such a ride and I did not think the old Colliseum should be touched.
  5. My guess re: removal of the good time theater would be for a dark ride, a la wonder mountain guardian and iron reef.
  6. That's an excellent video. I could probably watch dragster slow motion launches for an hour before going insane.
  7. I watch mostly streaming videos via Netflix. I probably buy a few bargain bin DVDs and a couple blu-rays a year. I use a Sony PS3 and a Chromecast for streaming video. I watch youtube on everything, my laptop, phone, streaming on ps3 & chromecast.
  8. I think these are smart, nice additions/improvements. About what I'd expect following banshee this year (I f'ing love that ride)
  9. i'm also seriously considering going Sunday and getting my last few rides in for the season at the point... I'd be fine if they were 3 rides on Maverick and that was it.
  10. The new colors really do look good in person. I'm definitely in the Rougarou is definitely something nice to look forward to for next year camp!
  11. Superman: Ultimate Escape @ Geauga Lake Not so much a fan of the holding brake....
  12. Disaster Transport, when the theming was still new/working.
  13. Nice trip report. I'm glad you had a great time in Ohio and hope you come back soon. BTW, I think the footers you saw are actually from the old King Kobra Togo standup. I could be wrong but there you go. Thanks again for report and nice pics!
  14. Glad to hear Shake, Rattle, and Roll will be back next year. Troikas are one of my favorite flat rides and KI's seemed far superior than Cedar Point's.
  15. I have to say, Wildcat at Cedar Point was the most brutal for me. If the ride op has to demonstrate to you as you came careening into the station that you need to use ye ole straight arm to avoid bashing your head/teeth, it's probably going to be pretty abrupt.
  16. Just wanted to make a quick post. I was able to visit Kentucky Kingdom for the first time on Sunday. Unfortunately, I couldn't fit my fat ass on Lightning Run but I still had a great time in the park (and I was very appreciative for the test seats). The park looks nice, you can tell a lot of work was put into it and I think it will continue to do well. I was surprised with how good Thunder Run was. It was definitely a lot better than I was expecting with nice speed, a smooth ride after the re-tracking, and great airtime! Awesome and not brutal forces in the big sweeping turn after the first drop and some nice twisty bits. The weather that day was, over all, brutal though. It was 94+ degrees and my friends and I didn't feel like going on any water slides. After 4 hours we were quite done. The waterpark was absolutely packed which made the wait times for most rides very short as the sane people were avoiding the heat. I look forward to the rehabbing of T2 and the twins. They will really get things going once they can open up the whole park (and hopefully they'll lengthen the operating hours). By the way, if you're staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel, you can take their shuttle to the park and they'll pick you up when you're ready to leave in about 15 minutes after you call.
  17. I was on my way back to Cleveland from Louisville, KY and grabbed a few rides at Kings Island, 3 on Banshee, 1 on Diamondback, and once on the Beast. Lines were very light, and I managed to hop on Banshee after only a 5 minute wait before I had to get back on the rood. It was a nice 2.5 hour rest stop
  18. I'd only be ok if they renamed Wilderness Run after him.
  19. I have to admit, I'm kinda of jealous Zumanjaro. I would love to see Top Thrill Dragster similarly outfitted.
  20. Mine was geauga lake's cork screw. i miss that shit... that and the double loop, I was a big fan.
  21. my only experience on one was at waldameer, but I LOVED it. really really f'ing good...
  22. I hope you have a great time when you visit Ohio! We are blessed to have two great parks just a few hours from each other. You'll get to see two nice and very different parts of the state if you can make it to KI too.
  23. I really need to renew my passport.... Damn it looks beautiful...
  24. Mean Streak last weekend. Of note, you may have heard it had some work done in the offseason. That little bit of new wood really makes a difference, for like 3 seconds (a moment of buttery smoothness). Even though the work done was pretty limited it was, however, a great place to do some work. That drop had been the ouchiest part of the ride unless you were in the front row imo. I have to imagine a complete retracking would do the coaster justice and be an acceptable option rather than just tearing it down and replacing it entirely or turning it into a steel or hybrid coaster. If completely retracked with the amazing work done these days by GCI, Gravity Group, and RMC, they could get rid of the trims on the 1st drop and let the thing sizzle as it did in 91 (but not painfully!) Even new it was rough, then within 3 years it was absolutely brutal on the 1st drop until they put those trims in (and then it became boring). Charles Dinn, who believed people were not fans of negative Gs, managed to include one moment of airtime in the design, but the thing drags ass so much now you can barely tell. I believe I would enjoy the layout as it is now if it were smoother & faster, with some smarter banking and you could still feel the Gs and enjoy all the headchoppers without being repeatedly concussed.
