  1. I think we're all reading too much into this. He said very plainly that it will be on top of Steel Vengeance. I'm hoping for elevators like the Kings Island Eiffel Tower has to get to that station 200 feet in the air.
  2. I'm starting to think a lot of parks actually do less on anniversary years just because the anniversary itself is marketable and they don't need much beyond that.
  3. I agree. I don't know when this trip takes place, but the best time is July when SDC has Moonlight Madness. With a one-day ticket you get a preview starting at 5 pm the day before. So if you arrive at WoF for a 10AM opening, then leave by 1, you can get to SDC by 5 (it's about 3.5 hours assuming good traffic and no accidents). Then you would have all day at SDC, which ranges from 9AM-10PM to 8:30AM-Midnight depending on the day.
  4. Wow, the arrogance of that guy.... If I were their PR guy, I'd be forwarding that to legal so they can send him a cease and desist letter when those videos show up advertising his product. Don't "squeeze in" SDC anywhere. Worlds of Fun can be done in a day, but SDC needs two.
  5. Cool. For anyone else, looks like Undercover Tourist still has the same price as before on the ones with no expiration: https://www.undercovertourist.com/los-angeles/disneyland-resort/
  6. It may be too late now, but if not, you can find discount tickets at https://www.citypass.com/southern-california. They have 4 day park hoppers for $268 v. Disney's $380. Emergency edit: Just read the fine print on those and they expire May 23, 2019. So don't get those.
  7. Yup, that's the News Leader I know and love. A month late in bothering to contact their source, but then putting it on the front page.
  8. Yeah I'm planning on doing the 3 day ticket with early entry too. I haven't seen anything so far that says it won't be available, but no confirmation that it is available either.
  9. So we may be looking at a June 2019 opening. https://www.ocregister.com/2019/01/04/disney-ceo-reveals-when-disneyland-will-open-star-wars-galaxys-edge/amp/
  10. The best we can hope for is that nothing changes. There's no chance this improves it at all, and a pretty good chance it loses what made it special.
  11. Great writing, great photos, as usual! Fun read.
  12. Looks like you enjoyed your New Year's. Nitro is so f*cking good.
  13. I've spent way too much time standing in beer lines at Great Adventure in the middle of the summer when the park is "fully staffed" wondering who I had to blow to get a beer as I watched the one incompetent bartender pour beer into the center of the cup with 99% head to think that they care about speeding up food and beverage service (and that's at a bar where nobody is using a dining plan and every single person is paying with cash or on a card and the profit margins are ridiculous). You're right, but they don't care and they've never cared. You're lucky. I have visited SFStL on busy summer weekends where they're fully staffed at there isn't a bartender at all. Anywhere at the whole park.
  14. Agreed. We had quite a time on Tuesday trying to get our Dining plan to work, and had to hoof it back to Guest Services twice only for them to completely fail to get the dining plan to work and they had to issue us paper vouchers instead. Technology is one area where Six Flags can stand improvement, although I will say their app is fantastic. Only Disneyland has a better one, imo.
  15. Missourians don't think much of driving to the other side of the state. Lots and lots of us will day trip it and not even need a hotel. That's not just true of the park visitors, either; water cooler talk is full of people who drove across the state to a ball game, concert, or some other entertainment. It's not that big a state, and we're used to it. I grew up having SDC season passes but we went to one of the other two about once a year. All the kids I grew up with did the same, and even as an adult I've met a lot of people at all three parks who do this. It's really common.
  16. Is it weird that the part about this that made me the happiest is that they're designing this road with terrible drivers in mind?
  17. Batman at 32 degrees in the dark is awesome.
  18. I can think of four exceptions - Northern California (Discovery Kingdom and Great America), southern California (Magic Mountain and Knott's), Washington DC / Fredericksburg VA (America and Kings Dominion), and Philadelphia PA (Great Adventure and Dorney Park).
  19. Nope, no universal pass. The parks for the most part run independently of each other. Buy the season pass for the park closest to you and get the 50% discount on the others. That's great. Almost every time I'm in one of their bathrooms I see someone cleaning. That's how you do that.
  20. You should! There's some space between things out here, but SDC, Holiday World, Kings Island, Dollywood, all are fantastic parks and not too difficult to get to. Kentucky Kingdom is a fun stop for a few hours too.
