  1. Good topic! I've actually been on a number of hypers, so this is something I can compare. 1. Magnum XL-200: The original is still the best. Airtime like you won't believe until you experience it. 2. Diamondback: This coaster is nearly perfect. It's fast, forceful, and not too intense. I could ride it all day. 3. Goliath (SFMM): Totally underrated. It's huge, fast, and has a tunnel. It does everything a hyper should do, and does it so well. 4. Mamba: This is the coaster that got me into coasters, so it's very special to me. 5. Wild Thing: Just a bit different from Mamba, and so satisfying. The figure-8 is not quite as good as Mamba's helix. 6. Raging Bull: Terrible. I don't understand how this is so big and fast and yet totally fails to feel like either. It's just not any good at all.
  2. I have been on a VR coaster, Revolution at Magic Mountain, and also a coaster very similar to Freedom Flyer, Steel Lasso at Frontier City. The limited seating arrangement for this is a great idea to keep lines going. Keep it optional, and let people wait if they want to experience it. This coaster type and layout are actually really good for VR; lots of possibilities, and the coaster isn't so intense that bracing or anticipating turns is necessary. This could be very good for them.
  3. A dime a dozen is about right, actually. They're not free. They'll also have to deal with increased trash, and of course some people will fail to see any of the peninsula's 60,000 trash cans. There are costs associated with paper cups. I don't have enough figures to do a proper fiscal analysis, but I trust that Cedar Fair has, and that when they say it's about the same, it's because the analysis has determined that.
  4. The survey said costs are expected to be similar. Remember that they are going to be supplying several paper cups per person each time they visit, instead of one plastic cup per season. It's probably a wash monetarily. The big deal is guest satisfaction.
  5. I also took the survey, and before they ever talked about the bottle-less system, in the question about what I dislike, I wrote about Kentucky Kingdom's system of getting a wristband that is scanned each time, and you get a paper cup. So I would absolutely love if they do this.
  6. Officially I believe it's 36, but they will close at higher temps is icing is likely, or it's really slow. Lubrication is another issue and it's possible that some rides need higher temps. Oddly they don't list that on their site, at least that I've found. SDC has an FAQ that details exactly, helps with planning. Their stuff goes down anywhere from 32 to 42 degrees, so I would expect Dollywood would do the same. In my experience, B&Ms tend to have the highest temperature guidelines, so that plus its location, I'd say Wild Eagle will be first to shut down.
  7. Right. I expected this to be a game, but I just had my performance evaluated.
  8. Just like Fred Astaire -- James
  9. So no food? That's what the Safari is for.
  10. 1927 : Coney Island Cyclone (Luna Park) 1959 : Monorail (Disneyland) 1969 : Timber Mountain Log Ride (Knott's Berry Farm) 1974 : Safari (Six Flags Great Adventure) 1976 : Screamin' Eagle (Six Flags St. Louis) 1983 : Demon Drop (Dorney Park) 1998 : Mr. Freeze (Six Flags over Texas) 2000 : Millennium Force (Cedar Point) 2013 : Outlaw Run (Silver Dollar City) 2015 : Fury 325 (Carowinds)
  11. That's still an open question. Evolved Pokemon don't hatch, but when babies were introduced, the basic forms didn't suddenly become evolved. Instead, there were two parallel evolution paths: Basic -> Evolution 1 -> Evolution 2 Baby -> Basic -> Evolution 1 So Magmar, Electabuzz, Pikachu, and all the rest are still basic Pokemon, even though they can evolve from a baby Pokemon. Theoretically they should be able to hatch. But we just don't have any data from players on that yet.
  12. I'm going to return my measuring tape, then. It's obviously defective. But yeah, this one at Dollywood is very interesting. I'm hoping it's running by the time I get there this summer, but if not, that's fine too.
  13. Coastermania is cheaper than Fast Lane+. On one day I got to ride everything I wanted to. Now, granted, that was an 18-hour day, with 5 of those hours being ERT. But really, if there's a day to go, it's that one. It'll be June 2, 2017.
  14. ^ As I understand it, it's all the Generation 2 babies. They couldn't fight in the Gold/Silver games, so the moveset issues won't affect them. They can also only be hatched, just like in Gold/Silver. Simple way to introduce Gen 2. Pokémon we should see: Pichu Cleffa Igglybuff Togepi Tyrogue Smoochum Elekid Magby The rest were introduced in Gen 3 or later. bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Baby_Pok%C3%A9mon
  15. Yeah, but you can't judge rides like that or you'll never be satisfied with anything... "Top Thrill Dragster? I mean... it's okay, but I'd love 800 feet a lot more". I mean, I've ridden Zumanjaro, Falcon's Fury, the towers at KD and KI, Lex Luthor and a ton of other huge drop rides but my favorites are Demon Drop (131 feet) and StraosFEAR at Knoebels (148 feet) so personally I think there's a lot more to these rides than height. Plus all drop towers are fun regardless of height, I don't think I've ever ridden one that I didn't like. I'm sure I'll even like this stupid crap that Hershey is building. I have to agree here. I've been on Lex Luthor (not sure if that or Zumanjaro is the tallest, but without nitpicking, they're basically the same height), and it was fun. I've been on S&S towers and Intamins, the Gyro Drop at Kings Island--but my absolute favourite? Zero-G, the ARM tower at Beech Bend in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Only 80 feet tall, but it scares the sh*t out of me in a way some of those bigger ones don't. On a side note, I really want to ride Demon Drop. It's basically the reason I want to go to Dorney.
  16. I see. So it was a coordinated effort, and they're counting the cumulative total of all the parks. Changing subjects a bit, but how is that 1,713 foot tall coaster at Six Flags?
  17. So after hearing about this world record attempt and Six Flags' efforts to just barely break it, I went looking for news articles to see if they succeeded. I found this Jerseytastic article, which I will post below. It's not good journalism. It's better than that. Because, let's face it, if the arithmetic made sense, I'd be questioning whether this was really from New Jersey. http://www.nj.com/ocean/index.ssf/2016/12/couples_help_break_world_kissing_record_at_great_adventure.html
  18. I think I may know who you are talking about. My friend, Lair Parent. I never saw him dancing before. He is a skinny, old man with a white mustache and beard. He does say Thuunnnnnderationnnnn in the coolest way I have heard. I always say hi each time I go. He is usually found sitting in the box. Yes, I think that's the person. He wasn't at Thunderation yesterday. I had wanted to get a short video of him saying that. It's really special.
  19. End of October, at Sea Life Kansas City. When was the last time you had tea?
  20. Sigh. No it wasn't. But rather than attempt to explain climate science, I'm just going to leave this here:
  21. I have never run out of toilet paper. When was the last time you played a video game?
  22. 10/10 The perfect food. Why yes, I am Irish. How'd you know? U.S. Grant
