  1. I'm impressed you got the reference. That song's older than you are! Rock radio stations play this all the time. They probably call it "classic rock" these days. Heck, I've even heard Pearl Jam on classic rock stations. Nothing like the sounds of your youth being hailed as antiques to make you feel old.
  2. I personally find SDC to be the type of place that would be amazing to visit even if it didn't have rides. So yes, I think being open was definitely worth it. Absolutely. When I was a kid, and there were no roller coasters and all the biggest rides were water rides, basically during the Christmas festival the train was it, and it was still a fantastic time. Even if I didn't live close enough to have a season pass, I'd totally pay to go during the Christmas festival just for the pleasure of walking around all day. Honestly, walking around and seeing all the lights and decorations is the main draw of this season. An Old Time Christmas has only been going on since 1993. They did 2 years of "12 Days of Christmas" before that. ThuNderaTion opened in 1993 and was open for the first An Old Time Christmas. Fire in the Hole has been open for all o the Christmas Festivals. Okay, thanks for all that information. So for two years, when I was 7-8, the situation was as I wrote, if you don't take it super literally. Hint: It wasn't meant to be taken super literally. Another hint: People rarely like to be corrected on things they didn't mean to be taken super literally.
  3. 2015. In a minute. 2016 can go f*ck itself. Which would be a yuge improvement over what it actually did. Which is the better sequel: Aliens or Godfather Part II?
  4. 0/10 I'm not a fan of really sugary things in general, but Mountain Dew is just the worst. Karl Pilkington

  6. The parking lot is being paved in the three waves over a three year period. Only 1/3 was completed in spring of 2016, an additional 1/3 will be paved in spring 2017 and the final third in Spring 2018. The attached link explains the rationale. It is free for Six Flags to have it done in this manner. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1707823#p1707823 That explains so much! Thanks for that.

  8. Ah, the taste of winter.
  9. Am I wrong, or didn't they just re-pave the parking lot at the beginning of this year? Those potholes look terrible for pavement that hasn't even seen a full winter yet.
  10. It'd be better if the schools waited til spring for spring break. Spring doesn't start until around March 20 (Vernal Equinox). I remember spring break when I was in school being later (and warmer) than now. Not much as much fun for my kids when they had it early. Thankfully their current schools have it in late March. The reason it was later was that it used to be Holy Week (the week before Easter). The line of thinking was that a lot of kids would be out of school anyway due to activities that week, so they just took the week off. The culture changed, and even among those who celebrate Easter for religious reasons, it's pretty much a one-day rather than a weeklong event, so there's not a reason to have Holy Week off school. However, Spring Break remains popular, even more popular than Easter itself. So Spring Break remained, it just became detached from Easter. These days, a lot of school districts plan it for in between third and fourth quarters, which usually falls in the first or second week of March. If there's no reason to tie it to Easter, that's a very logical place to put it.
  11. Considering that my local fair contracts the rides to Wade Shows, and the only one they ever bring, year after year, is a Wacky Worm, I would take any of these. Any of them at all.
  12. That depends on what the definition of "is" is.
  13. 10/10 from a Ramen noodle restaurant. 1/10 for the dried kind with powdered "flavour packets" BBC show Sherlock

  15. Whiny enthusiasts complaining about it. Here' a challenge: What's worse than a whiny enthusiast, but has nothing at all to do with Hitler?
  16. 3/10 Unless it comes from my garden, then 10/10 Shameless plug for a local small business: We grow heirloom multi-coloured corn from Baker Creek Seeds in Mansfield, Mo. They ship internationally! Limbo
  17. ^ Cool! Igglybuff and Magby are the two I don't have yet. I finally got a Magneton thanks to the first Magnemite nest in this area. Silph Road have confirmed that it is no longer possible to hatch the basic version of a Pokemon that has a baby version. You now must hatch the baby version.
  18. 9/10 One of the best theme parks anywhere. Norm Abrams
