  1. ^You're welcome. I am a fan of him, but yeah, some of his stuff is meh and some is incredible. Fortunately, he's been rather prolific, so he has quite a few good songs just in a couple of years.
  2. "I'm not an engineer or a city planner, but I've got a username on an Internet forum, so that makes me an expert!" The permit has been approved and ends on January 2020. This would tell us the coaster is most likely 2019 as for safety against breaking contract due to delays it would have been prolonged if it was a 2020 coaster. January 2020 is the latest Cedar Fair has to do what they need to do, fix anything, and re open the river back up to it's regular flow. This for sure tells us 2019 is the year the coaster will open as this also includes landscaing such as tree's and flowers along the river in the report so that's why your're seeing a later date. Another note is, if you check out my Youtube channel, from my drone footage you can see construction has well started off thus telling us it's probably 2019 as well as coasters don't take this long to build. 1 year 5 months is a long time to build a coaster especially since this construction team is moving very, very quickly.
  3. Ha, hadn't even considered it might be cold then. Around here, it's been full on summer for about a month by then, and highs in the 80s are normal. Guess I'll have to see what the weather is like when I get there. As for the date, it's locked in. Coastermania is the day before, and I'm stopping here between CP and Kennywood. So Saturday it is. Great ride and food recommendations, just what I was looking for. Thanks!
  4. Trip planning time! Going to be at Waldameer June 2, a Saturday. Obviously I'm there mainly for Ravine Flyer II, but that new water slide looks pretty fun as well. I'll probably get the combo wristband and spend some time in the waterpark. Waldameer's website has an interesting phrase: "Rides begin opening at noon, all rides open by 1." So I'm guessing it would be better to head straight to the water park at opening, then do rides after? Also, what rides have long and/or slow moving lines that I may want to do early? Definitely want to do the two dark rides, the sky ride, the flume, and the coasters. Are any of the flats especially good, can't miss? They're all types I've been on before, so they'll be as time allows unless there's something special that bumps a particular flat into can't miss territory. Thanks!
  5. Yeah, Six Flags is a different beast. Since they make ao much of their money on advertising, they need to do all they can to sell season passes. There the guests are not just customers, but also products they sell to their advertisers.
  6. Yesterday. When was the last time you saw a live raccoon?
  7. I think we have a winner for Understatement of the Year. This is clearly a fixation for him, but he seems to have been doing pretty well with it. If you have a mental condition, you always have it. It's best to learn to live with it and do something positive. He could be hoarding these games and never leaving his house--happens to a lot of people--but instead he's displaying them, letting people share them, and at least a couple of people seem to have really enjoyed the place. Seems like he's doing all right. Now, losing a thing like that can be really harsh for a guy like him. I hope this doesn't crush him.
  8. Sunset out my office window last week.
  9. Wrong park You know, I was going to attempt to explain the joke to you...
  10. As a cover for his obsession with the weed growing habits of stoners. How many pages can Paige the page write about her pager?
  11. Medusa at Six Flags Mexico?
  12. That sounds like a Guy Fieri dish.
  13. Helix at Liseberg?
  14. Radiohead - Motion Picture Soundtrack [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  15. You lived in SoCal and never went to the beach? They all charge to park, unless you're going to some obscure beach in the middle of nowhere. Here's a quick primer on how these things work. Parking lots cost money to build and maintain, and that money has to come from somewhere. Where it comes from depends on supply. If you have a large parking lot with more supply than demand, like Wal-mart for instance, you can offer free parking as a way to entice demand; i.e. get people to park in your lot. The money to maintain the lot would then come from increased sales. If, however, demand outstrips supply, the best thing you can do is to charge for parking, because then the lot pays for itself while also decreasing demand from people unwilling to pay for it. This is the model urban garages use, especially the ones that charge per hour, since people will be incentivised to move their car as soon as they've finished their errand. This is why the mall next door to Knott's with free parking says no parking for Knott's. They don't want to pay to maintain their lot for people who aren't spending money there. It's a big loss for them. Theme parks charge a lot for parking because they know the demand is there, and it also incentivises people to carpool or whatever they need to do to bring the least number of vehicles required. Theme parks are also not really worried about anyone who would be turned away by having to pay to park. If they weren't willing to spend that $18 on parking, they probably weren't willing to spend that $18 in the park either. Better to have them choose not to come and free up the spot for someone who is willing to spend money in the park. Obviously this is the simplistic version of the economics behind these decisions, but I hope it helps you understand the business thinking of theme parks.
  16. After all of the above suggestions...forget it. You'll need to come back, after this trip's done. Seconded. I live in the middle of the USA, and I've been all over the country, from coast to coast. It's taken me dozens of trips over many years, and I still have only seen a fraction of it. There's so much to see, and such variety to the landscape and the people, it's impossible to see all of it in one go. You'll want to see Washington D.C. and Florida too, but those are both about 3000 miles from L.A. This is an incredible continent, and it may become an addiction for you.
  17. That sounds like a great time. California is huge; it's roughly the same size as England. Your plan looks awesome for southern California, but I'd look into the SoCalPass. It gives you 3 day park hopper to Disney, plus Legoland and SeaWorld San Diego. That's about an hour and a half south of L.A., and Legoland is about halfway between Disney and Sea World. When I go abroad, I find the food to be an essential part of the experience. So if you want some essential American food, try Portillo's near Knott's Berry Farm. They specialise in Chicago-style hot dogs and beef sandwiches. Cannot recommend highly enough. I always hit up this chain whenever I'm in Chicago, and I've been to the Buena Park, CA, location. It's excellent.
  18. Oh yeah, haven't had a Bud Light since college. Cleveland pretty well sums up how I feel about it. I had a triple IPA at Brews & BBQ a couple years ago. I don't remember which brewery, because I had a good time at Brews & BBQ, but it was really good, very strong. There were a few double IPAs too. I like the really hoppy stuff.
  19. A mile, wow! I remember it being quite a hike, but that's incredible! I keep track of steps, and Coastermania 2016 at Cedar Point remains my #2 most steps in a single day. #1 is Disneyland/Disney California Adventure, when I did both parks in one day.
  20. Because Snoopy couldn't handle the ego boost that would come from being king. Why isn't Hang Time beyond vertical?
  21. There won't be any stairs. If the coaster needs to be evacuated, Wonder Woman will come rescue everyone.
