  1. Good interview! It's a really fun, really positive show.
  2. There are people who are turned off by a spinning coaster, lots of them. The important thing is that people do generally understand what the term means, so if they choose to ride or not, it's essentially an informed decision.
  3. Sounds fantastic! That should be the first weekend for it if the pattern holds. Make sure you try the Kansas City style ribs. Best food item at the event.
  4. No, the first turning coaster was Serpentine Railroad at Coney Island in 1885. It was the first to have turns. That's what people are going to think of when they hear "turning coaster." The term "spinning coaster" is descriptive, and people know what they're getting into when they hear it. Just like "looping coaster" is fine even if the coaster doesn't have a vertical loop. People know what it means, so communication achieved. There's no need to be exact when exactitude would cause confusion.
  5. Yeah, World's First Turning Coaster. That won't be confusing to anyone.
  6. Yeah, I don't have a whole lot either, but I di have a couple I really like: This one's for Outlaw Run.
  7. They give you a souvenir 4 oz. plastic stein, and it's 1 ticket to fill that up. You can also get a 12 oz. pour in a disposable plastic cup for 3 tickets.
  8. I like the apple one. That's far better than most.
  9. Yeah, no doubt. That and a Pink's hot dog was goood for me for the whole day. Oh, and Platinum passholders get a free special beer in addition to the 15 tickets. It was the Valravn beer when I was there, since it was new.
  10. Brews & BBQ is only Fri-Sun, and only in the evening. Platinum Passholders get in early, like around 4 iirc. Everyone else is like 5 to 8 or something. It's not exactly a dining plan replacement, but definitely is a good meal. Each plan is 15 tickets too, which to give you an idea of value translates to a full plate of food and 4 beers, though of course you're able to spend your tickets how you wish. It's a hell of a deal.
  11. Annnd then I just read this and now I have instant regrets. Thanks, Andrew... Seriously though, you've probably made the right decision. If the cost goes too high, unless your friends are really into it, they may back off. Better to take a smaller trip and ensure everyone has a good time. Personally I think Kings Island is a better park anyway. Cedar Point has some awesome rides, but food and atmosphere are both much better at Kings Island, and it's a far more relaxing pace. That said, I've never taken a trip to just one of those parks. Too easy to combine.
  12. Very awesome. Some creative costumes, too, especially the Sorting Hat and Fawkes the Phoenix. Looks like a lot of fun!
  13. If you go on the right Friday there's Brews & BBQ. Last year it started 5/19. $20 in advance, and they have a ton of craft beers to choose from. Won't be available on Thursday.
  14. Sounds like a Livestream waiting to happen...... I would watch that. It's honestly hard not to be a fan of Knoebels once you've been there. That place is for real.
  15. Knoebel's video? Yeah, the new one from a couple days ago: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] You meet up with the world's biggest Knoebels fans, then just happen to post an awesome video about Knoebels? This cannot be mere coincidence.
  16. I missed a livestream this weekend? That would have been fun. I guess that explains the Knoebels video then. Edit: Found it. Yep, that's them!
  17. Hope you had fun (but you probably did). Looking forward to the trip report!
  18. Cool, congratulations!
  19. Aw, you were there literally the day after I was and got to ride Indy. It was closed for annual maintenance on my visit. Which brings up another piece of advice for Kadath: Check the annual maintenance schedule. Outside of the summer, Disneyland usually has one or two rides scheduled to be down for maintenance. Try to go at a time when a ride you don't care about is down.
  20. Is this you? http://m.imdb.com/name/nm6377005/?ref_=fn_al_nm_0
  21. You can get fastpasses for Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain. When I was there September '16, I got a Fastpass for Haunted Mansion with a return time of about 45 minutes later. That was enough time to ride Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean, both of which are very close to Haunted Mansion. From the Fastpass entrance, it was about 15 minutes until I was on the ride. Space Mountain's Fastpass had a return time about 3 hours later, but while I was "queueing" for it, I rode all the stuff I wanted to in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, all of which had short lines except Peter Pan, which was about 40 minutes. I don't think any others were more than 15 minutes or so, and Buzz Lightyear was a walkon. The Space Mountain Fastpass line was around 20 minutes once my time arrived. That's the key to Disneyland. Let the Fastpass take care of the unbearable waits while you physically wait in the short lines.
  22. I'm partial to the Northern Hemisphere, but never actually been to the Southern. Caracas, Venezuela, is the farthest I've been south. That was back in 2001, and I'm glad I went there then. Beautiful country, great people. Loved their museums. Wouldn't go there now. Cotillion or synthesizer?
  23. Yeah man, they're good! They're not metal, though, so you and I are probably the only ones who listen to them. You're probably already aware of their new single, but I'll leave it here for the rest of the TPR commumity. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  24. Nice. Denny's. The Mamas & the Papas or the Scissor Sisters?
