  1. Interesting stuff from Arrow-Huss, What intrigues me is the Space Race coaster, which looks like Arrow's take on the Bobsled coaster. Too bad that never went around. Also, the Magic Room ride seems interesting. Is it basically a predecessor to the Vekoma Mad House (Houdini's Great Escape, Hex)?
  2. Gas - $49.50
  3. I'm disappointed the Colts lost. I have had a fond appreciation of Tony Dungy because of what he did with the Bucs (Gruden doesn't count, he screwed it up). Oh well, heres hoping for the Patriots to screw up, and Brett Farve to have another Super Bowl ring before his retirement.
  4. Hello experienced travelers/road trippers, This spring break, I'm planning a 2 day credit run on the weekend of March 8th and 9th at Wild Adventures and SFOG respectively. And I want some advice for a first time "long road trip." First off, the road trip. From my house, WA is 4 hours away and SFOG is around ~8 hours. Since I'll be driving up all my lonesome, do you have any advice for driving long distances? Secondly, advice on the parks. Is SFOG crowded on the first Sunday or not? I hope it isn't because I still have to get half of the credits there. Also, is Wild Adventures usually dead and is it relatively quick to get all 9 credits? I can't wait!
  5. Three words sums my feelings up, "About darn time." Darien Lake hasn't added any new thrill rides since Shipwreck Falls in 2002 while the water park have been getting decent additions in 2004 and 05, and a new stage show last season. At least PARC is giving the park some much needed improvements and additions since the late 90's.
  6. I thought the MotoCoaster thing was made up on Ultimate Rollercoaster but since its up on rcdb, I guess that means its almost confirmed. Oh well, about time Darien Lake got a new ride.
  7. You forgot the magic case of meds.
  8. In order to be awesome: Sparks fly from the mouth Ability to take the head off to pour water in and makes it glow in the dark Fists that dispense radioactive goo. I think that's everything.
  9. Whoa, although I'm not sure if you're allowed to answer, wasn't Top Gun at Carowinds originally going to be themed after the 1998 Godzilla remake that tanked at the box office?
  10. I hope the station has this bit of art.
  11. Worst new addition for 2007? I can't really say, from the parks I have visited, they all received solid and fitting additions. Holiday World- Bakuli was a great toilet bowl slide adding to the success of the water park. Little A-merrick-A- A nice, classic family wooden coaster that suits the small park well. Mount O- Apollo's Swing (FUN S&S Screamin' Swing ride) was well worth the $10 upcharge and Poseidon's Rage may be the most insane wave pool I've ever been in. SFGAm- Wiggles World looked like fun for the family and it looked like the kids enjoyed it. Although I don't get the fanboy comments about "It ruins American Eagle's atmosphere." Cedar Point- Originally supposed to be "Kinzel's last bang," Maverick was a solid and fun ride experience, adding yet another hit to Cedar Point's array of rides. Kings Island- Firehawk was a popular ride at the park and fits Kings Island's selection well.
  12. Why did I decide to do another one of these things?
  13. "Cast Away" - Green Day
  14. That's a nice looking quilt and it looks comfy. A great weekend project and a great way to make use of old shirts.
  15. I think this is a great thing for Disney to ban kids from classier, fancier restaurants. Why dress up and enjoy an expensive meal with a classy atmosphere with a family (clarify: older families) or a date only to be surrounded by screaming kids? And of course, the restaurant's customers aren't always families with young kids as stated in the article. In a way, this rule should be endorsed at most fancier places anyways, even outside of Disney.
  16. "There's Always an Excuse" - 311
  17. ^Or, maybe because Cedar Point is usually considered the "cutting edge" of the amusement industry. How many rides at CP at one time or another held world records or are world firsts? Several. Even if its just a relocated kids area, CP wants to keep it secretive because many other parks look to what CP is adding as "the next great thing." Granted, not many enthusiasts think that way about the Point (unless you're a fanboy). But face it, the industry looks at CP as a role model.
  18. That's the problem with Sega these days, they just lost the touch, just look at Sonic the Hedgehog now. Before it was just simplistic side scrolling with enjoyable music and little to no story (much like NiGHTS). Now its like they release a game that lacks that "magic touch," and at the same time throw 50 billion new furry characters that are used only one time to develop a really crappy story (although I will admit Sonic Rush and Secret Rings were steps in the right direction). That's when I lost faith in Sega... they just lost the innovative touch they had when they were head to head with Nintendo. Maybe that's why I didn't rush out and get NiGHTS, because I knew Sega would screw it up somehow. The only game from them that I've seen get acclaim from critics lately was Virtua Fighter 5. But to get back on topic a little bit more before I blather on to more nonsense, is there anyplace doing a midnight launch of Brawl or not?
  19. Oh Chinese pirates, you amaze me yet again. Although I've known of the Double Games and the PopStation, the Vii and PolyStation 3 were just as horrible. People who are easily gullible or need a budget alternative. Or, just something found at a flea market or mall kiosk.
  20. *Bump* I just saw another commercial I see too much of. Its for this company called JG Wentworth and its something about selling your insurance. Narrator: Its your money, use it when YOU NEED it! Random guy: It's my money, and I need it NOW! Random girl: It's my money, and I need it NOW! Group of random people: ITS MY MONEY, AND I NEED IT NOW! You can see how that ad can get on your nerve, especially since its on TV a lot.
  21. You know what's sad though, I'll actually have to agree with that Chris Crocker guy for once and say "Leave Britney alone." I'm tired of seeing Spears all over the darn place as if it is the most important news in the world since 9/11. Britney Spears is high on meth, Jamie Lynn Spears is knocked up, Kevin Federline is actually sane. For all I know, I want at least 3 months with no news about the Spears family at all. That would just be lovely.
  22. Actually, two things wrong; 1. CF would have kept the Banshee name, but religious protesters kind of forced CF into renaming it to Mantis. 2. Banshee's logo was used for Steel Force, not Phantom's Revenge. On topic though: Nighthawk I don't mind. Sure some people are going to hate CF for using "____hawk" for coaster names, but I think it sounds kind of cool. Heck, I think Nighthawk is a better name than Borg Assimilatior. But like everybody else in the community, Flight Deck is the most horrible rename for a roller coaster since Movie Park Germany's "Cop Car Chase." For air fighters, there's tons of awesome names CF could have come up with. Stealth Bomber, Tomcat, After Burner, Dogfight, the list goes on...
  23. Agreed, whatever happened to posts that don't end with 20 emoticons, made sense, and didn't devolve into a running joke on TPR?
  24. I'm glad the kid came out safe, despite his stupidity. But again, why would somebody go to such lengths and risks just for a hat? Make it a thread, I bet you have some memorable customers.
  25. Saw this on Screamscape. Accident at Beto Carerro World: Coaster train splits in half (Portugese) The coaster: http://www.rcdb.com/id1154.htm Translated by Babelfish (I cleared up some of the "jibberish"): So from the sounds of this, the ride had an e-stop. The e-stop caused the train to split in half with one half on another part of the ride. A bizarre accident. Screamscape said that the train was fixed and the ride reopened the next day. Only outside of America, Japan, and Europe... A picture from the news article. Look closely to see part of the train.
