SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
Homer replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Tame B&M Flyer? If anything, this Flyer looks like something that may give Tatsu a run for its money. From what I can see, intensely banked turns and great interaction with the water/theming will make Manta one of the better B&M Flyers out there. As for the argument about water, I'd likely say it's a timed fountain or track placed close enough to the water to cause waves; but not soak the train. I'm psyched for Manta, and going to SWO has been on my to do list for a while. -
Also to add in, the only license CF is keeping from the Paramount purchase is the Nickelodeon properties.

Maverick Or Top Thrill Dragster?
Homer replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Too easy, Maverick is obviously WAY better than TTD any day. As stated before; Top Thrill Dragster was a mere gimmick, feels more like a drop tower, and I think Kinzel has gone on record to say that TTD was one of his worst investments ever. Sure its a fun ride, don't get me wrong, but not a ride I'm the biggest fan about and FAR from a top 10 ride. Maverick, meanwhile, is a buffet of everything you come to expect from coasters. Airtime, laterals, quick and sudden turns, and at least Cedar Point attempted "some theming." But easily, Maverick was a ride I really loved and it is no contest, Maverick is a LOT better than TTD. -
Shooting at Wet 'n Wild Orlando
Homer replied to Swimace's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Does Wet & Wild have any metal detectors inside the park or was this outside the park? Anywho, I don't know why there have been so many pointless fights among high schoolers in Florida lately. First there's that video of a bunch of girls beating up on one girl just so they could get their 15 minutes of Youtube fame that are all facing hard prison time, now this. I've been living here my whole life and I'm still boggled. -
Best Day For Busch Gardens Tampa?
Homer replied to mkast's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Any time during a weekday is usually good. During the summer, the park isn't in peak season (though still semi-crowded with locals and tour groups), and you can easily knock out most of the credits in a few hours. -
I still work at Sweetbay Supermarkets, however I got a promotion; I now work at produce. Nice small raise and a ton of hours, not much customer service, I like it.

The Great Escape (TGE) Discussion Thread
Homer replied to Red Benny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A really low blow for Six Flags publicity-wise, didn't Atlanta's Whitewater had a major Norovirus or E. Coli outbreak that hurt the park's reputation? I certainly hope the same doesn't happen to TGE. And yet again, proof that America is a sue-happy nation. -

Stupid things we did as (little?) children!
Homer replied to Rocket Rodder's topic in Random, Random, Random
This story should explain a LOT of things. When I was 7, I was over at a neighbor kid's house where we were playing basketball. His basketball hoop was old and the pole was pretty rusted, especially around the base. So, in the middle of a one on one game, the pole suddenly broke and the hoop fell like a tree. Unfortunately, my fragile 7 year old head was in the backboard's path and I got a good whack in the head. A hospital visit later, it turned out to be nothing more but a really, really bad bump on the head with a bad headache. I think I could have been a genius if it weren't for that day... -

I'm surprised Ashlee Simpson is still performing, that part did put a grin on my face though. Great TR though, it looks like Nick did a bang up job of upgrading MOA/Camp Snoopy. Also, glad to hear Spongebob is decent after a few rides. -

Abandoned Amusement Parks Discussion Thread
Homer replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Word of advice, people who trespass behind restricted areas aren't really looked upon positively in the enthusiast community. Anyway, I'm kind of an enthusiast of abandoned infrastructures. Busch Gardens Africa turned an old flat ride area in the Congo section (the Monstrous Mamba area) into a sitting area for the Vivi Storehouse restaurant. The queue for the ride is still intact and not blocked off, although some growth from nearby planters have obscured this area. Today, this piece of infrastructure has been torn up for Jungala though. -
If you owned your home park (s)...
Homer replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Busch Gardens Africa * 2009- Add a B&M hyper similar to Apollo's Chariot and celebrate the 50th anniversary with a bang. Maybe have a "Disney-esque" celebration of 50 years with in park prizes, etc. Also some awesome deals for Florida residents as a "thank you" of sorts (I remember a few years ago, Busch gave away free Fun Cards for FL residents as a promotion). * Add a family flat ride package or a Huss Giant Frisbee. * Turn Tut's Tomb into a dark ride. * Refurb Land of the Dragons into a Sesame Place section. * Have more "interactive" animal experiences or more animal exhibits Just a few pipe dreams. -
If you ask me, its just personal preference and well, Acrophobia is just an intimidating ride in general. Acrophobia is the only Intamin drop tower with seats that tilt forward at the top of the tower. If you've been on an Intamin drop tower, the height and anticipation is scary enough, but the extra tilt surprises a lot of riders. That is why a number of riders think Acrophobia is scary. That and the ride ops there are usually jokers with the drop countdown.
