Best And Worst Coaster In California
stormrider replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey, at least Jaguar's station was cool! I wonder if that's what made the ride $20 million. Anyways, best steel: Medusa and Xcelerator (I like Medusa because it's close to me, that's all) (I can't believe it, here are the steels I rode at MM: Ninja, Gold Rusher, Superman, X, Goliath, Revolution, Batman, Psyclone) Now I wish I went on the better rides while I was there.) Wood: Ghostrider (Hey, I like rough rides Worst Steel/Wood: Jaguar and Psyclone (I went on Grizzly when I was little, so I liked it as well since it was what I believe my first Woodie! So that's why I say Psyclone is worse) -

That drop looks sort of like Expedition GeForce's when I see it in those renderings, so if the good praise for the GeForce's drop can be applied to this ride's drop, then the rest may be as good as well. -
Zonga, Thriller, Taz
stormrider replied to buttonman700's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haha , ouch vekoma: "A boomerang offers neither" Well, I liked Zonga alot better than the Boomerang. Don't ask me about the Bullet, I'll just stick to reading this topic now. -
So Hydra, Goliath, Superman Ultimate flight don't have the pre drop because the park would rather spend more money on chains?

Zonga, Thriller, Taz
stormrider replied to buttonman700's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Instead of bullet, they should get a Vekoma Boomerang. The public should be more impressed by a cobra roll and loop than just a plain old loop. Of course I hear that bullet is great and all, but the public needs more than one loop. If you do get Zonga, it would probably look great in commercials but when people ride it, they'll come off feeling weird. -
Yes. Very yes. I'm sure that lots of people in the business know it is possible, but will cost huge money. If some very rich investment group in China or somewhere else has the money, I think they'd build it. The neighbors can complain all they want in China, but it would still be built. So I'm thinking yes, in my lifetime, since skyscrapers exist in this world.

What Coaster Is this?
stormrider replied to stormrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ah, a search from RCDB reveals as I suspected, an Intamin ride modified by Arrow later on http://www.rcdb.com/id105.htm Some track looks different, and it looks sort of like the mine train with new track style at Fiest Texas. -
http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=822 Looks like maybe a mine train to me, but with a different track.

So the way I read it, it's that Stan never owned the company before but now purchased it? I thought the opposite was supposed to happen, well, when I listened to the others And by major projects, is that like new concepts cause I (yes yes yes here it comes) thought it was the parks that reveal the projects? Unless it's like "we're building a ride at some park coming soon" like for the Japanese 4D. I'll just wait I hope when I'm old enough to travel (and have the money) that I can ride an S&S roller coaster. -
I'm guessing that this $20 million is better spent than the $25-30 million for X. But Busch has the operations (beer) that can back up their purchase, just like how Disney spent a cool $100 million for a somewhat short ride as well. But short or not, it's an easy way to get families on a thrilling coaster without a crapload of inversions. And I wonder, I heard rumors of ten seat wide, floorless trains before the announcement and how the hell did they get the info in the first place? I thought there wasn't supposed to be employees giving out info
-
In response to the post about B&M sucking, there is some substance to that. I don't think they suck, but there are plenty of people who find inversions to not be fun, but sickening. Sometimes on B&Ms I get the most disoriented becase the smoothness doesn't register in my brain as going upside down (weird) so . . . I actually like that. And I wish I went to BGA to ride Sheikra but no I had to go to Disneyworld Anyways, Griffon, yay!

Back in that thread about S&Ss demise (sssssssssssssnake . . .) . . . Somebody mentioned (was it Chris Belson?) that they were making new trains for X, might be that, but it may be something I don't even know about. Just sharing that bit.

Isn't it Werner Stengel who designs their rides? Well, maybe he coulf find a way to make the 4D concept cheaper, but with B&M's boxy track, I'd expect it to be even more expensive. Thomas "I'd rather see an awesome smooth ride from B&M than an OK ride like X" Jackson There, I tried that whole Person X: comment: Person X's last name thing right there, and I'll never do it again -
Russia's Screaming Squirrel
stormrider replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Now I can see why they thought it was not thrilling as they hoped. It's so tall and has enough potential energy to do a whole lot, but then it does what a normal screamin' squirrel could do but with less drops. -
If they had the money, couldn't they hire the Imagineers to design new themeing and such for Magic Mountain or ask for ideas? From what I remember, they were not part of the Disney company but were their own standalone entity? Clarification? I don't know who is in charge of Six Flag's theming department.

Well, by that last statement, it seems they are doing this deal to attract real estate developers rather than keep the parks as they are Well, that means less competition for my California Super Park when it happens (if it happens, land costs alot these days). But I hope there is a startup company that would want to get its investors to help it make a chain out of these starting parks. When the land itself is 200 000 000 for one park and they would sell at 500 000 000 for the whole chain, that's a pretty good deal. Unless they can't handle all the problems.

What would happen if overbaked an apple pie and it burnt to a crisp, would the apple go away? Well, I'm just guessing, but Arrow is S&S and S&S has itself, no more Arrow, since they are in S&S. That's the problem, someone already mentioned that Arrow kept getting lumped with S&S. S&S had named their products S&S-Arrow for the only rollercoaster they mention on their website: 4-D. S&S Website But on the Thrust Air, they say S&S withouth Arrow. -

I'm sure Stan could still be a "creative consultant". I think it depends on if he is as good of a manager as well as a creative man, which is why he could stay in the company. What about his wife anyways? The other S in S&S could have had an important role in the company as well. -
Hey, I'm glad that boys usually don't have long hair then But now that I know that it COULD happen, well, that's nothing to joke about. I'm sure this happened during the Industrial revolution when women worked at factories as well. And 13 isn't young to you anymore? And it said the accident was on a kiddie ride.

S&S Sansei Discussion Thread
stormrider replied to Coaster Joe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From what I remember, there were Chinese/Japanese investors who wanted Arrow Dynamics, so I'm thinking maybe there is another (hopefully rich) investor who would want to buy S&S. I don't know what's with this, is it that they don't advertise their rides as well as the others? Why can't their roller coaster department take off? I thought a park in America would love to support another American company . . . but I haven't rode an S&S coaster so I don't know whether there is reason for a park to prefer European RCs without considering S&S. -

I saw one of those at the CA state fair yesterday, but never went on it. They also had an 80 version or so, but that was eight tickets and my mom didn't buy me two more when I needed them On the S&S thing, I am wondering if they may have spent too much on research when the end product didn't sell as many as they liked? Such as the sky swatter and Vertigo tower. I remember wanting to be a roller coaster designer/maker, but I'm sure when I learn more about how business works . . . doesn't appeal to me as much as it did before. -
So that avatar was taken when I wasn't even alive yet? I didn't think it could be that old, now I feel younger, thanks Ooops, nevermind, that didn't come out right. Well, 16 years can make a person look totally different, I'll keep that in mind when I'm older so I don't get confused looking at pictures
-
Whenever I see your avatar, then a picture of you on a trip, they don't really look like the same person Is the one in the avatar really you? It's called Ask Alvey, but since there is little room for discussion, I'm wondering if I should just PM . . .

When my family went to the philipines (north of Australia) it was like only 2000 dollars I think . . . maybe because the destination wasn't as desireable as the destination UK destination the same distance away starting in Australia
