Universal Florida Help
WillMontu replied to Flying Unicorn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just remember that coasters are among the safest things in the world (save for a handful of Intamin rides ) Try starting out small and going up. Are you afraid of the height, speed, or inversions? -
Spell Checker on Google Toolbar!
WillMontu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great idea. Now if we can get a grammer checker too. I hate it when people type in all caps (or no caps at all). Still, it was about time that they released a Firefox version. Also, Robb, make this a sticky! -
Which coasters are National Icons
WillMontu replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Obviously the Cyclone (already a historic landmark) Magnum XL 200 PKI Racer (it did spark a revival) Matterhorn (first with steel tubular track) Revolution @ SFMM (first modern loop) The original Corkscrew (first modern corkscrew) Batman @ SFGA (the first inverted) -

We all know that Bill Gates owns some shares of Six Flags... Other ideas: 9/11 - The Ride Vekomaland (wait, that was already done) Six Flags Parking Lot (that was already done too) Windows XP - The Ride. Naturally it had to be a SLC but it crashes from time to time. -

Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story Unrated
WillMontu replied to CoasterCrazy's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've got a copy and watched the "uncensored" version. There's the occasional f-word here and there, but it's not over used. Of course, there's also fart jokes. Also, according to the commentary, they were planning to release parts of it on TV, although without the uncensored soundtrack and the beginning and ending segments. -
They took it down already. Anyone manage to get a copy? Can someone send it to me?

I've never been a big fan of Quicktime, but WMV would be a decent choice since most of us are Windows users, and thanks to Microsoft, the codec gets installed whether we like it or not. Divx is good quality, but I've been having problems playing some of the videos (in many cases, I will get audio, but no video) Anything but Real Video would work for me.

Of course, you can do it the old school way and get it off of Kazaa. It's not 100% legal, but since you already 'own' the file, you might be okay.

In other words: Don't take your dog on the coaster No smoking No beer Don't ride if your bf/gf just dumped you Keep away from baskets if you're pregnant

So that's what all that noise was! It would be interesting to go, but since I don't drive, it's a bit difficult to get there (knowing the 'reliability' of RTS) Also, here's a link to a news article[/url] -
Cool Photoshopped Coaster Pics
WillMontu replied to Dailey Enterprizes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Back in high school, my senior yearbook was themed to coasters. One student (who actually hated me for reasons unknown) decided to snag a bunch of [copyrighted] pictures from Joyrides, edit them together, and make an impressive image that was used for the cover. Joe Schwartz could probably sue him if he wanted to. -
I remember all the classic Sierra titles as well. Mixed Up Mother Goose was cool. I was never good at Kings Quest and Space Quest, but Police Quest was fun (you even get to play with guns!). As for Leisure Suit Larry, my brothers and I couldn't play them until Dad finished them himself. I didn't really understand much of what was going on (ie. 'sleeping' with the woman)

My dad used to have an old Mac. Mazewars was ahead of its time with network play almost a decade before Doom. I was probably 4-5 at the time. Other games I remember: Ernie's Big Splash and Pals Around Town, two Sesame Street games. In Ernie's Big Splash, the goal was to get the Rubber Duckie to Ernie's bathtub through a series of blocks. Pals Around Town was a basically a collage type game with landscapes and Sesame Steet characters to populate them Paintbrush - not really a game, but it was hours of fun. Very similar to Paintbrush in Windows 3.x, the forerunner to Paint. I had four colors to choose from, copy and paste capability, and pixel precision editing. Sokoban (especially the level editor. It still works on my current PC)

Take a look at a web site I'm making for college credit
WillMontu replied to BarryH's topic in Random, Random, Random
Don't forget King Richards Park in Naples. They have a credit! I got stuck on the bumper boats there twice. For one of my class projects some time back, I actually created a 3D coaster from a RCT track with on-ride cameras, lighting, and textures (it's actually quite challenging, considering the use of Bezier curves and such). Also, how could you forget Longworld? -
Discovery Channel Needs YOUR help!
WillMontu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though in Florida, I haven't had much interest in EE, but The Voyage at Holiday World looks insane, especially after seeing that NoLimits footage. Also: Please cut down on: Narration ("I'm [so and so] and we're about to ride the [so and so]. It's my favorite ride in the world with a height of xxxxx and a track length of xxxx. We're nearly at the top and we're just about to go down the hill into a .....") "Groundbreaking" SLCs that are "pretty tall" and "stomach churning" with footchoppers and cobra rolls -
The official stadium picture thread
WillMontu replied to roeterich's topic in Random, Random, Random
Here are the stadiums in town: The Swamp, the loudest stadium in the US. The O'Connell Center. Also very loud I'm not a sports fan, but these stadiums are definitely "local" -
Found this link today. Kind of amusing http://www.worth1000.com/cache/contest/contestcache.asp?contest_id=7269&display=photoshop#entries What's sad is that I can recognize nearly all of the rides pictured. Also, Joe Schwartz might have a claim on his hands.

I am not sure. I see all those shows on Discovery Channel about ghosts, so I assume that they probably exist, but I'm not counting on it as I've never had any paranormal experiences. Also, don't forget the Hampton Court "ghost" caught on camera. Not proven, but still interesting

Like Elissa and several others on the board, I'm a Gator. Started in 2001, graduating this year with a BS in Computer Info Sciences and Engineering. There's even a UF themed coaster at Cypress Gardens (it's a Vekoma, but that's another story) Reason for going there - Best public U in Florida, got a scholarship. Also got other family members going there.

"Signature" Coasters
WillMontu replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kumba (and maybe its brother, Montu)- many multi-looping steel coasters become headbangers after a few years. Kumba is still a very ridable coaster after twelve years. In addition, it's well landscaped and has the distinctive roar Also: The original Corkscrew Any Schwartzkopf ride -
The first time I rode J2A @ SWF back in 1999. The first drop is nothing spectacular, but it's the dip after the drop after the U turn. When I rode it, the front of the boat was literally submerged. Also, last time I visited, one of the water cannons had a broken coin slot, giving free blasts.
