  1. Here's what happens when two sober UF graduates set up a tree Ornaments include: Target dogs, K-Nex coaster cars, a "Y2K bug", and a rubber chicken. We couldn't get orange lights, unfortunately
  2. Some reasons why 1394 is more expensive: -It's not as popular as USB, so not as many companies are producing them -Apple and a few others get royalties from them. If you want a cheap cable, check out your nearest Target or Walmart. I got a universal 1394 cable from Target for less than $20. As for Firewire ports, I got one with my sound card (most mid and high range SoundBlaster products have them)
  3. I think the real reason why the pipeline failed was because it required Ron Toomer to bend TWO pieces of wire to design the track. The attached video (from AGRCT shows an interview with Ron Toomer and some footage of the (not functioning) prototype. arrow.wmv Ron Toomer and his coathangers
  4. I enjoy a lot of the shows at SeaWorld, especially Clyde and Seymour. I saw T2-3D back in 1997, and didn't find it that impressive (I'm not a big fan of "3D" attractions, though Spiderman was pretty good)

  6. B&M floorless What's your favorite SLC?
  7. I think the first actual looping coaster was one of the original Russian Mountains in Paris. The loop was probably circular
  8. Slalom looks like it was designed in RCT as well.
  9. I take it you're new. Try posting this in the Roller Coaster Video Games forum (http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3), and for the benefit of all us, lay off on the Caps Lock (please!)
  10. To quote Futurama: "One small step for man...one giant line for admission" Still, put a launched coaster on the moon, and you would have extreme airtime from small bunny hops because a) Gravity won't slow you down as much, and b) Gravity won't counter the ejecter forces as much.
  11. Just wanted to bump this, as the coaster shows are starting NOW.
  12. Having grown up in Pukerua Bay (I went to Kindy and started school there), I'm sure I'll make some attempt to see this.
  13. With the help of Babelfish: Port Adventure will have a hunting that will go to 135 km/h the new hunting will reach 135 kilometers per hour in only 3.5 second and the occupants will go with the feet hanging next to the ground SARA SANS - 14/12/2005 PORT VENTURE A car of formula 1 reaches the 100 kilometers per hour in four seconds. The new attraction of Port Adventure, that will cost six million euros, will move to 135 kilometers per hour in only 3.5 seconds. This hunting will be the star of the park as of the season of the 2007, when it is released. It will be located in the thematic area of the Mediterrània and will always start and advance in horizontal, level with ground or water at a speed of vertigo. Who do not have themselves bold with the Hurakan Condor (that lowers to 115 kilometers hour) or with the Khan Dragoon (with ends of 110 kilometers per hour), they are going it to have difficult. The new hunting, that still does not have name, is thought for a young public and lovers of the risk and, specially, the speed. In the specialized jargon east type is described as attractions like acelerator because its main characteristic and attractive maximum are its acceleration. It will happen of 0 to 135 kilometers per hour in less than four seconds and without resorting to slopes. It will not have loopings either (returned from bell). The exit of the attraction will be through a tunnel to leave immediately afterwards outdoors, with which he will be visible for the visitors of the park. The new bet of Port Adventure will be a hunting similar to which there is in Alton Towers, in England. Nevertheless, in that attraction the occupants go seated in a species of trenecillo. In Port Adventure a species of airplane fuselage has been designed that will run over a rail, but the seats will hang of the wings, in the style of those of the Hurakan Condor. The occupants will travel at full speed and to few centimeters of the ground and also of the water, since in a while of its route the attraction will cross the lake of the Mediterrània, the one that gives the welcome to all the visitors of the park. Sources of Port Adventure assure that at the speed another emotion will be added: the one to see how, with its winding route, the hunting avoids the objects that find to their step. Each trip will last of 55 seconds and hourly 1,500 people will be able to raise the attraction, almost the double that in the Hurakan Condor, that has capacity for 850 people per hour. This same week the advice of administration of the park approved the project although they are left some flecos to define: the attraction will be located in the area of the Mediterránia, where now only there are two attractions: the Estació of the Nord (the train) and the Port of the Drassana and by a space question, since the new hunting will be very great, but still the exact point of exit has also not been determined. Also it is to decide the tematización of the attraction and if some spectacle is gotten up to brighten up the delay. To construct the new hunting will cost a year and means of work, although the structure and the material will be prepared outside the park and the works will only be visible during the assembly of the attraction. The investment of which it will be the star of Port Adventure as of season 2007-2008, when the park turns his twelfth anniversary, will surpass the six million euros. Its beginning will agree with the construction of the residential and hotel set that Port Adventure will develop next to the park.
  14. I've ridden coasters, but I haven't got a girlfriend yet, so I will have to go with coasters. Must be the Kiwi accent that drives them away.
  15. I think TLC has gone down the hardest of all the Discovery network channels. It used to be a good channel with a few coaster related shows (ie. Secret World of Amusement Parks, and Coastermania). Now it's all reality shows. Travel Channel has dipped a little bit too. There's a few reality shows, but I miss "Lonely Planet" (with the catchy theme song) and "The Tourist" (it was basically a comedy travel show). Now it has a handful of reality shows and World Poker Tour (it doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the channel). Let's also not forget Ultimate Thrill, showcasing Paul Ruben and Vekoma SLC's On Discovery, the only shows I regularly watch are Mythbusters, Extreme Engineering, and occasionally Monster Garage/Monster House.
  16. Welcome, as said above, watch out for Robb's bite. Be sure to check out the Ask Alvey forum where you can find out about everything from donkeys to the Discovery Channel. A whole bunch of us will be over there in June of next year with the TPR UK trip. Oakwood will be on of the parks we hit, along with Alton, Thorpe, Drayton, Blackpool, and some smaller parks.
  17. On some old fashioned woodies (without seat dividers), you get thrown around in the back seat, so you must have a partner to ride such that you slam into your partnet rather than get thrown around. Which would you rather have, no singles in the back or seat dividers? Also, check out this http://www.joyrides.com/cedar_point/blue_streak1.htm
  18. That explains a bit. Mine was perfectly synced up to music, but didn't have much of a story line to it, except at the very end. For a moment I though mine was disqualified because it was exactly three minutes and Robb and the gang might have rounded the time up. Other than the lack of the storyline, I wouldn't mind some feedback though.
  19. I'm surprised that mine did not make the cut. I had it synced up to music well and decent transitions. I didn't go overboard on the effects, and I trimmed it so it fit exactly within three minutes.
  20. Back in 2000, when Kraken was first built, I got several re-rides during the passholder preview day. Unlike the Gwazi passholder day, the queue was empty (with only a line for the front seat). We could choose to switch seats or stay in the same seat. The rest of the park, however, was crowded, and Atlantis had its regular huge lines.
  21. In no order: Tetris Solitaire Doom RCT/RCT2 GTA/Vice City/San Andreas, including the original top-down games. SMB series King's Quest series (any old school Sierra for that matter) Halo/Halo 2 SimCity (I spent hours playing SC2K) The Sims (there was satisfaction in making the little people drink so much coffee that they wet themselves) Honorable mentions: Freecell, Minesweeper Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit The Road Duke Nukem 3D - Back in 1998, we had Dukematches over our home network. Loads of fun. Commander Keen (Dopefish lives!) Civilization Chris Sawyer's Locomotion (like RCT, but with trains) Sokoban Zero Wing (ha ha ha! It start great following for great justice)
  22. I didn't go to grade school, I went to primary school. What's your favorite way of spelling favorite?
  23. From the pics, that looks like a mine train style train. Any idea how this fits into the dinosaur theming?
  24. The Samantha Brown show is on right now if anyone does get the Travel Channel Life size gingerbread house. Unfortunately, ACErs aren't allowed to get near it. This one's for you Elissa! Disney has lots of edible sculptures
  25. I've got a TV capture card so I will set them on timed record. As for posting them on here, I'll keep a lookout for the highlights (do we REALLY want to see the same old Magnum footage?). You can be sure I'll post footage (or just screenshots) of Paul Ruben praising SLC's like he did in the last show.
