  1. Looks like you guys had some fun. I noticed that the colors on some of the pictures look a little "washed out", like in my Liseberg photo TR. Has anyone else had this problem with their camera, especially after taking a couple thousand pictures? Also, do they still have that TOGO Death Machine sitting in the parking lot?
  2. I know they did a major overhaul of the ride around this time last year. Also, I'm on the list of people who don't like the idea of the Harry Potter transformation, although the park has added very little since opening (a Roller Skater, a flat ride, and finally opening the Seuss Sky Trolley) BTW: How did you get permission to get the on-ride shots?
  3. In the US, it's not just the chance of injury caused by the loose objects, it's also the resulting lawsuits! Other countries are generally a little more relaxed, especially places like Coney Beach (where safety comes in second) If you want permission to take a camera on a ride, you should first get the okay from guest relations, since they have more authority than any ride op.
  4. In addition to seven theme parks within several miles of each other, there are shuttles that can get you over to BGT for the day, and Orlando probably has buses to get between the other parks. I saw a stop at SeaWorld on my last visit, and you can probably get a discount if you buy tickets for both parks. The Universal parks are right next to each other, and the Disney parks are all connected by either free shuttle buses or the Monorail Also, generally, a lot of the Florida stuff is better than the California counterpart (ie. our Tower of Terror totally owns the California version, our Revenge of the Mummy, Journey to Atlantis not built over a parking lot, etc.)
  5. I believe that Robb uses some sort of Fair Use clause. The music is not the main part of the DVD's, and the music track is mixed in with sound effects.
  6. Keep in mind that a lot of Disney rides are enclosed or covered, although if there is lightning, they will close some of the outdoor rides (ie. Astro Orbiter)
  7. The Vermonster costs about $30. There's an article on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermonster Looks like my local parlor holds the record for the lightest person to finish a Vermonster in an hour
  8. Magic Kingdom To compete with the TGV's, Disney cranked up the speed of their monorail Night shot of the entrance 10pm and the Main Street is packed It's difficult to get a good shot of Tinkerbell zipping down from the castle Astro Orbiter all lit up I didn't intend for this picture to come out like this, but I like the way it did come out In reality, they were only running the Alpha side, and they were loading FastPass people before everyone else As you can see, there are a lot of people in the queue Space Mountain re-opened, with a 120 minute wait. Good thing we had FastPasses The teacups all lit up Here's one for the Vekoma brake cylinder enthusiasts out there Time for the Vekoma Skater (and Soren's first USA credit!) Cool motion blur shot from the train The train Of course, the Water Jets of Doom were turned off and we didn't get very wet So we head over to Dan's favorite ride We barely missed getting on the Liberty Belle The Hall of Presidents. Both Dubya and Lincoln make speeches. Bill Clinton loves sax [insert Bill Clinton joke here] "Old man Stauf built a house and filled it with his toys. Six Guests were invited one night, their screams the only noise. Blood in the Library, blood right up the hall, dripping down the attic stairs...", If you recognize this quote, E-mail Dan! And the Peoplemover breaks down too. There didn't appear to be many people stranded on it though Still no life from Space Mountain The queue is familiar to anyone who's seen Timekeeper The "Comedy Club" wording is still present throughout the attraction As you can see, it's done wonders to the attendance levels MILF is the new attraction this year Astro Orbiters is a very low capacity ride This doesn't look good Space Mountain was broken down The Peoplemover is a favorite among repeat visitors, so why did Disneyland butcher theirs? The only picture I have of the castle The Vengabus is coming And everybody's jumping New York to San Fransisco An intercity disco The wheels of steel are turning And traffic lights are burning So if you like to party Get on and move your body There's not much left of the North Wing of the Contemporary Resort
  9. As some of you already know, today is the annual Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day. There aren't any strings attached, and tips go towards more ice cream, toppings, and they get donated to local charities. It's true. Check it out yourself at your nearest Ben & Jerry's More community involvement stuff. Hey Robb, ever tried this? Inside... For the ACEr in everyone. Unfortunately, I didn't bring any extra change Nearly there... The local Ben & Jerrys' has higher capacity than Deja Vu This is the line for the Gainesville location. I wonder if they have FastPass
  10. I got a chance to go down to Orlando again yesterday, hitting SeaWorld and Magic Kingdom Some brief updates SeaWorld -The waterpark is coming along nicely. I got some pictures from the road -It was windy, so the SkyTower was closed -Both Kraken and Atlantis were running with relatively short waits. Kraken was a walk-on, with a 10 minute wait for the front -Wild Arctic makes me glad that they don't make simulators anymore Magic Kingdom -Space Mountain was closed most of the time, though we got FastPasses and rode later in the evening. They were only running one side -I finally got on the Astro Orbiter -I got to do MILF. Erik said that it had improved since the preview. Much like the other Tomorrowland attractions, they recycled the old queue and show building from Timekeeper I have not posted everything yet. The uploads are very slow at the moment I'm having some trouble with uploading at the moment (taking much longer than usual), so I will post the rest over the next day or so. You can get a feel for the size of these horses They had the Clydesdales out Penguins on trampolines! They Odyssea show "You fight like a dairy farmer!" "How appropriate, you fight like a cow!" They had a little bit of a blooper with the sound system, but they did a great job at continuing the show What kind of buffet is this anyway? Where's the gravy? Maybe you should roll up your sleeve The show includes references to Titanic (the movie), and even GEICO commercials Hey Ryan, how's it going? The mime act is a "pre-show" to the Clyde and Seymore show Some aerial shots of the waterpark would be nice, but it was quite windy Penguins and coasters, what a mix! Atlantis was about a 5 minute wait. I didn't get very wet on it (therefore not an acceptable amount of wetness) Erik gets eaten by Kraken Kraken's eggs. I wonder what they hatch into...Dragon Wagons? Vertical loop goodness! Some coaster porn for those who enjoy it! And now I bring you this super exclusive shot of the back of Kraken's train As always, Kraken was a walk-on Crowds were moderate SeaWorld also has the new biometric turnstiles Lots of slides The waterpark is coming along nicely Magic Kingdom pictures are on the way Cookies? Where are the cookies? Anyone else upset that Cookie Monster has started dieting? How PC can you get? C is for Cookie...and that's good enough for me! E is for Erik! The old water-ski stadium has been converted for use as a Sesame Street show ...very quickly! ...the line fills up... ...because... We left just before the ending to hit Wild Arctic... The large LED screens can move and rotate I don't remember seeing coasters in the previous shows either The Shamu show has changed since I last saw it Go Gators!
  11. How many TPR members does it take to screw in a lightbulb? One to install the bulb Four to make Photo TRs of the lightbulb being installed One to capture a POV of the lightbulb going into the socket Five to start a thread on how great the old one was One to close four of said threads One to take a picture of the lightbulb "through the trees" One to count it as a credit One to e-mail Dan! (mrt0ad13@aol.com)
  12. I've never had an iPod. I still have my old Nomad Zen 2.0 (circa 2002), upgraded to a 60gb hard drive. I haven't figured out what all the hype is about
  13. You might want to post this in the Movies thread instead
  14. Well at least there's still Photoshop! It looks so much better
  15. I've never been able to do Magic Eye pictures myself. My binocular vision isn't very good, but I can do some of those 3D/4D cinema attractions (ie. Spiderman, Muppets)
  16. I shot some video of it about a month or so ago, so if anyone wants me to post it, I can. I shot nearly the whole ride, expect for one scene, where I had to switch tapes in my camer Also, I thought that the squeaks and groans of the ride added to the nostalgia of the ride, considering that I first rode in 1995 and hadn't been to EPCOT until very recently BTW: Did Robb ever get that "credit"?
  17. Official Entry 1, 2 The Yeti Ball clan gets ERT Yeti Ball's so awesome, he's even got his own star at Liseberg!
  18. Welcome to TPR. We have a thread for posts like this already at http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=177 I know that Thailand is not the place for rides, but Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and even Australia have some interesting attractions. Also, please check out the TOS in the Donkeys forum. If you are not a native English speaker, we understand, but text message shorthand and poor punctuation is discouraged (ie. are -> r, you -> u)
  19. ^ You probably do need to use Firewire to allow DV capture.
  20. As long as you keep the movies in DV-AVI format (basically, the same format that the camera uses on the tape), you shouldn't lose much quality. Windows Movie Maker isn't the greatest out there, but it does the job. Just make sure you have plenty of hard disk space, as an hour of raw uncompressed DV footage takes up about 12gb of disk space
  21. Most of us here prefer MiniDV tapes. The video quality is better and they are more resistant to shock, etc.
  22. ^ I remember that because of "Guess that neon coaster". Of course, back then Joyrides was updated every once in a while and I posted to RRC
  23. I have been busy with classes and such over the last few days, so here are some updates. I do have a coaster object, but I'm having trouble getting it to work properly. Also, if anyone has a good IKEA recreation (or any other lots they would like to contribute), let me know To be continued... "Where are you taking me?" Back at the Alvey house, Ryan reads to Kidtums. She hasn't pounded him, at least not yet Robb and Guy talk about the old days when Robb was an ACEr Ryan: "Help!" Casey! Tackle Ryan! Over at Derek's, those two are still stuck together! Of course, Elissa also finds her true love No caption Ryan seems to have gotten some attention So instead of cooking, the Alvey family dines out Robb sets the oven on fire!
  24. There are tons of free web hosting services, just be aware that they will dump ads on all your pages (which isn't much fun). Geocities used to be one of the most popular (I had a web page hosted there back when all they required was a simple link back to Geocities)
  25. The spell checker is nice, though I use Firefox with the built in checker, similar to MS Office where it highlights words that it is unsure of (and I can spell, most of the time), so I probably won't need to use it very much. Now if only we can find a way to cut down on Poor Capitalization and txt tlk.
