  1. I'm doing something similar for March of Dimes next Saturday. I haven't raised much myself yet, though I'm working on it. After all, even KidTums was a preemie. Expect a Photo TR! (that is, if I raise enough!)
  2. While they're at it, they can also swing by NZ and get all three credits we have to offer! (the biggest of which is an Arrow Corkscrew), as Auckland is a major international hub for trans-Pacific flights. There may be one or two more there too that are not listed on RCDB. There was a small one at what was once the Footrot Flats Fun Park in the late 80s/early 90s (now defunct). My younger brother got the credit, but I didn't! The coaster at Luna Park in Melbourne is supposedly one of the oldest continuously operating coasters in the world
  3. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. I remember going to a McDonalds in New Zealand that had a railcar as part of the dining room. The restaurant itself was built in the mid-late 80s, and according to Google Earth, it's still there. As for that other one, let's hope Elissa doesn't find out about it

    Moving?

Trouble is that Activision > EA Actually, Everything > EA. EA sucks!
  5. I'm enjoying your pictures so far. Never been to Disneyland myself, but I need to get out there some time I sure hope you got your Manhattan Express credit!!
  6. Nice shot of SheiKra through the trees!
  7. So did that rapids ride have the camera-killing wetness that Kali had?
  8. If you don't mind being labeled "sad and pathetic" by the ride operators, the single rider lines make a big difference for many of the rides.
  9. Happy Birthday Elissa. Here's to Intamin rides, McDonalds, rodents, a good night's sleep, and the Gators winning another title!
  10. Looking good so far. The Windsor version of Legoland still had a Space Shuttle when we visited on the UK trip, though I've heard rumors of them adding a second park in the US.
  11. It depends on the coaster Woodies and hypers - Back seat Floorless and inverted - Front seat Vekoma rides (and some woodies) - Second to last seat Balder - Doesn't matter
  12. It depends on what you want to hit Must see attractions at IOA: Spiderman (The single rider line makes a difference) Hulk Dragons (make sure you get front row on Ice) Jurassic Park Ripsaw Falls (one of the better of the flume rides) Popeye and Blutos (rapids ride, not Dan Friendly) Flying Unicorn (gotta get the Roller Skater credit) Cat-in-the-Hat Must see attractions at USF BTTF (Only hit it if you haven't done it before, as it's closing soon) MIB (Be sure to check out the "sad and pathetic" line) Mummy (Supposed to be better than the USH version) Jaws Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster (another Roller Skater credit. Try and hit this early in the day as the lines do get fairly long for it. You don't have to kidnap to get on this one) Shrek (because it has a donkey) If you're wanting to get credits, you may be able to get on the Flyers at IOA if you hit it within 30 minutes of opening. Otherwise, you may have to resort to kidnapping (though the low capacity of the ride results in long lines)
  13. I think this is quite an accomplishment. Many Photo TR's don't go beyond the first page. This one's already at three, and we haven't had many 'real' pictures posted yet (I'm not saying Homer's pics aren't 'real')
  14. I don't have much creativity when it comes to drawing. Instead, I stick with photography. I don't have the money to get an SLR, but if anyone reads my Photo TR's, you can see some of my images (as well as Photochops)
  15. I got to go down to Orlando again two weeks ago with Erik Johnson in his infamous Van. We hit MGM and EPCOT. At MGM, we hit Rockin' Roller Coaster and then went to Good Tower (which was a walk-on). In addition, I was able to check out a few other rides I had never done, including Star Tours (One of the ride-ops recognized my TPR shirt, and I think he said something about donkeys), and the tram tour. At EPCOT, I got to experience a few of the classic rides that I missed out on when I first visited the park in 1995, including the Universe of Energy (which was closed when I first visited) and the Land river ride. I also took some video footage of the tram tour, The Land boat ride, SpaceShip Earth, Universe of Energy, Journey into Imagination, and Illuminations. I can post screen-grabs and/or video footage if anyone's interested. More pictures are on the way. I can't post them all right now as my connection is running slow. The pre-show room It would be cool if Disney were to make an on-site hotel themed to TOT Does anyone else here play Mahjong? We went back for some more rides on GT Of course, it isn't a visit to a Disney park without a random rodent encounter! The 3D glasses are a nice touch The Muppets 3D attraction. Reminds me of watching the Muppet Show when I was little Do you have this credit yet Robb? I finally got to do the backlot tour But it does have Jeff Johnson credit The queue for ST was somewhat slow I've only seen two Star Wars movies (the first two of the original series). How sad and pathetic is that? The centerpiece of MGM is the Sorcerer's Hat (which is still bigger than DL's castle) Why are they selling merchandise for the California version here? "Love in an elevator, Lovin it up till I hit the ground" (at which point, we have to get off and go round the queue again!) "Love in an elevator, Livin it up when I'm goin down" "I really need a girl like an open book, To read between the lines" "But where am I gonna look, They tell me that love is blind" "I'm bettin on the dice I'm tossin, I'm gonna have a fantasy" Time for Rockin' Tower of Terror! (which was almost a walk-on) The station itself is much the same, however the new line merges into the regular line just before boarding It leads into the same room as the regular queue, but on a separate platform They added a separate queue for people named Barry This is one of the changed rooms from the original version. Sorry, Robb, but your eight-track player is gone! The ceiling in RnR's queue There was a bit of waiting even with FastPass though This was where the stand-by and FastPass queues merged A hidden Mickey? A bad shot of me and the Tower (through the trees!) The construction fence along the ride of RnR. Too bad Casey wasn't with us to take a picture of whatever is behind it. Why does this have to share the name with a mediocre coaster at Drayton Manor? We first picked up Fastpasses for RnR and then went through the standby line. The original "Vekoma in a box" Expedition Everest is behind there, somewhere. The uber secret back entrance of WDW Thank you for reading. Comments are appreciated The IllumiNations fireworks show Despite breaking down, the ride was almost a walk-on Long exposure shot of TT Some construction walls by SpaceShip Earth. This used to be an interactive play-area type attraction Due to funding cuts for NASA, there were only two of us on the team. Hi, Wes! How's it going? Space was almost a walkon. It didn't kill anyone today The ride system was probably state-of-the-art for its time The pre-show takes place in a large empty room Universe of Energy is one of the old-school EPCOT rides It does work though, unlike my old camcorder Kodak hasn't quite got this whole camera miniaturization thing down yet An oversized G3 Kodak Picture Maker. I got to ride the original Journey in 1995, but I don't remember much of it. We first hit Soarin' Next up was EPCOT. This is Robb and Elissa's favorite WDW park, and I can see why. Another shot of the launch track And they're off! It kind of reminds me of Voyage, in a way The pre-show is pretty much the same as it always has been Again, the door for people named Barry (hopefully KidTums won't need to use this door when she grows up...if she grows up, that is.) Another shot of the reconfigured queue There is still a display of retro equipment, but it's much smaller now The "door" is still there! Another shot of RnR's queue
  16. Some of this stuff cracked me up! Too bad I couldn't make it. Of course, we all knew that Casey was bigger than the castle. Even Kidtums was bigger than the castle.
  17. It's not the best ride in the world (because nothing is better than Balder), but it's better than Voyage because it counts as two credits I believe this is the ride you're talking about, right?
  18. ^ http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33323 Have a Balder clone, a copy of E:GF, a Boomerang and a Wacky Worm.
  19. I will sometimes yell "I love Vekoma" (along with the occasional "ouch") while riding a Vekoma ride.
  20. Congratulations Now you've got an excuse to buy one of these! I'll make an effort to check out your registry next time I'm in Target
  21. Thorpe Park has changed a lot over the last few years. I first visited in 1999, when the Shoot the Chutes ride was only a pile of dirt and the only coasters it had were X:\WTF and Flying Fish. They also had a small section with scale models of world landmarks and the park was poorly maintained.
  22. I played the original on a high end 486-66 with 8mb of RAM and a 400mb hard drive, but I never got very far in it.
  23. Easter's just around the corner, which means they start selling the Creme Eggs again in the States! Cadbury seems to be a luxury chocolate here.
  24. I watch History Channel fairly often, especially Modern Marvels. The quality of programming on Discovery and Travel has gone a little downhill over the last few years (notably the Poker shows), though I do enjoy MythBusters.
