To install the drive, the drive usually comes with some instructions. In simple, you will probably need to set it up to pair with your existing optical drive (if you want to keep it) by setting the jumpers on the back or by simply disconnecting the old drive and replacing it with the new drive. Once it's plugged in, your system (assuming you run Windows) should detect it automatically and it should be ready to use. The drive will also probably come with some sort of software (ie. Nero or Roxio), that will allow you to do stuff, such as burn DVD's and watch movies. It should affect any of your games if the games do what they're supposed to. (although EA games are "supposed" to crash at random)

My laptop had a hard drive crash, and I figured that I'd try installing Vista on the new drive (since I got a copy for free through the university). So far it seems to be working okay. The Account Control "feature" is annoying, but at least it can be turned off. Most of my programs seem to work, but some have a few hiccups (such as freezing during installation). I also finally tried out Internet Explorer 7. I'm keeping Firefox Worth it to buy an upgrade? Not really. I will probably set up a multi-boot with Vista and some variant of Linux

If you want to post them, you can just post them as a new thread in the Donkeys forum. You can attach as many pictures as you need to. Also, as Jow said above, proper grammar/punctuation is appreciated.

TPR "Coaster Rankings"
WillMontu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Barry Friendly - A ride with a single-rider line KidTums credit - A ride that requires a kid to ride Smooth as a baby's bottom - A ride that shouldn't be smooth, but actually is -
It depends on several factors The initial temperature of each ice cube The volume and surface area of each ice cube The ambient temperature of the air around each cube and the counter The heat capacity of the air, counter, and ice cubes The pressure of the air (remember, PV = nRT). The air, however, is probably not an idea gas, so the equation is slightly more complicated The velocity relative to the speed of light of the counter, ice cube, and air molecules (since time is slightly distorted) Is the system isolated?

BGA First Trip Advice
WillMontu replied to dwerling's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cheetah Chase - This is a low capacity ride, so you should try and hit that early if you can. Just a simple wild mouse, relocated from Busch Gardens Euroburg. Ride it if you need the credit Scorpion - Capacity is not that great due to running only one train, but the lines shouldn't be long Gwazi - I don't know if they will be running both sides or not. They used to duel, but they rarely do it now (and if they do, it's usually coincidental). Kumba - Depending on operations, it can be either a walk-on or a 30 minute wait. Typical old-school B&M - intense, but smooth for its age Montu - Waits are generally short for this ride too. Food - I don't tend to eat much at parks, but there's a some fast foot places around the park Shows - I haven't seen any shows at BGT since they still had the Dolphin show (which was similar to what they had at SeaWorld). -
Photoshop Contest?
WillMontu replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Knotts _______ might be a good idea, but has limited choices (renaming rides and adding trash cans) How about "If TPR owned a theme park". Would there be a McDonalds outside of every ride? A Donkey petting zoo? Dan Friendly water rides? Other ideas: The official ________ of Six Flags (Ketchup, pizza, game system, etc.) Offspring of two coasters (ie. Manhattan Express + Viper @ SFGAdv = Mega Coaster, Top Thrill Wacky Worm, Rockin' Boomerang) Rides on the Moon! Wisconsin State Fair -
Theme Parks on Television

Discovery Channel shows don't excite me the way they used to. Now that we've got Robb's DVD's and the amateur video forum, we have all the coaster porn we need. Some of them are good for laughing at, such as Paul Ruben praising an SLC and ACErs with Fatty Patch Jackets -

Anyone notice that they have High Roller, but not Manhurtin' Express? -
If you can shell out the extra $25, you should try and get them now for several reasons -They're worth it (one disc of park footage, another for raw coaster footage, and another for bonus features.) -They support the site (meaning that TPR doesn't get covered with annoying ads) -Sometimes you get some extra crap with them, such as a TPR pen or a strand of Elissa's hair! -Robb won't continue the 3 for 2 deal forever.

^ It's been a year...and Robb and Tom still haven't posted the rest of their pictures! -
I went down there today hoping to catch the 7:30 show, but the ticket prices were $40+, which was out of my price range. Turns out that they weren't doing student tickets (usually $10). If you can get me in free or at a reduced rate, I can drop by tomorrow!

Personally, I've never heard of it, so I don't know if it's within my taste or not. Where in Gainesville is it, and how much does it cost?

Return of the Theme Park Review house

The newer expansion packs have the option to have Sims paint custom artwork using the easel. The clothing was made using the Sims Body Shop, a utility included with the game. -

There were a few limitations, so I just did the best I could with regards to faces, etc. Joey was difficult to do. Also, since I haven't made a "Sinise is God" shirt yet, that will have to do Here's a closeup of Derek's sim Dan and Guy are soaked! Dan takes revenge on Guy Is this an acceptable amount of wetness? Guy has some water balloons. What does that mean? Does anyone know how much sugar that Windex stuff has? If you do, e-mail Dan! In addition to beer, Derek has a stash of Windex under the bar -

I've added a few people to the mix Still to come: Soren (I need to find a good German costume for him!) Non German Tom, and maybe German Tom Lou Jeff Johnson John Barry If anyone also wants to create others, such as Dave Thomas, Jahan, Tommy and James, etc, I can add them too. Also, if anyone wants to contribute some skins/clothing, I can feature them too if they're good. But Diet Pepsi still takes second place It's true. He is secretly addicted to Diet Pepsi! Does it even matter? It's a credit! What is this supposed to be? Over at Derek's, things are just starting to head up Ryan checks out the TPR forums Pillow fight! I'm sure I've got a picture just like this one from the UK trip ...it takes more than that to please Elissa Although Robb is known for his skills with grilling food... Elissa get hungry KidTums does a poopie! Joey, Jow, Dan, and Wes make up the third family Guy, Nicole, Derek, and Casey make up the second family (Casey is not shown actual size due to game limitations) -
In a lot of areas of Florida, there are Publix stores on almost every street corner (even more so than McDonalds, but don't tell Elissa!). They're thriving when Winn Dixie, Kash'n'Karry/Sweetbay, and Albertsons are struggling. Their prices are very reasonable, service is good, and they don't require you to have one of those so-called "loyalty" cards. How can you go wrong at a place "Where shopping is a pleasure"? As mentioned before, if you plan to stay in Florida, get a Florida ID card as it gives you discounts and some perks at some parks (ie. Busch Funcard, Disney discounts, Universal promotions). Also, if you do a lot of travelling (especially on the turnpike), get a Sunpass, which can be conveniently picked up at any Publix. It allows you to speed through tollbooths and gives you a discount too.

Being inland, Orlando doesn't get hit that hard from hurricanes as much as places on the coast do. It got hit fairly bad in 2004 with Charley/Frances/Jeanne, but you wouldn't know it now. If you're staying on Disney property, most likely they are well built up to building codes, and should hold up to strong winds. The main inconvenience caused to most of us is power outages, which can last from a few hours to a few days.

There are two seasons in Florida - Tourist Season and Snowbird Season. Unfortunately, we're not allowed to hunt either! Florida is a fairly good state to live in, just watch out for Barry!

I play Sims 2 from time to time, and based on inspiration from this thread, I though of bringing it up to date. So far, I have re-created several TPR peeps in Sims 2, but if anyone else there has a copy of Sims 2 and wants to create some people, this could turn out to be quite interesting. In addition, I have a few custom objects, including McDonalds and even a working coaster Most of the action here is completely random and I let the Sims live their lives at their will. I give them few directions Ryan, on the other hand, goes for a joyride at just under 88 miles per hour Robb spends his time playing with his Wii Upon moving in, Elissa gets to work on making paintings of her one true love The first family consists of Robb, Elissa, Ryan, and KidTums

^ Thunder Coaster (Vekoma woodie) at Tusenfryd has a lot of ejector airtime, especially in the rain.
-
You may want to consider SeaWorld. Two coasters (Kraken, a B&M floorless, and Shamu Express, a kiddie coaster) and also Atlantis (a "water coaster") MGM and Animal Kingdom are probably half-day parks. Magic Kingdom, as said above, is probably a whole-day park, and EPCOT can take the whole day if you want to hit World Showcase. Other parks you may want to consider outside of Orlando include Busch Gardens Tamprica (three B&M's, a Schwarzkopf, and a pair of rough woodies) and Cypress Gardens (more of a "credit" park)
-
There were actually two "Big Dippers". The original was a 1930s woodie that was destroyed due a fire in 1979, and the newer Arrow looping Big Dipper built in 1995 and moved to Dreamworld in 2001.

So did you guys get to do the Peoplemover? An extra point for WDW. How many years until Nicole gets to SeaWorld to get the Kraken and Shamu credits? Out of curiosity, where did you take the "coaster porn" shot of Hulk?
