Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Intaman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I honestly do not understand why people go to a park for the "opening day" of a ride and wait HOURS in line when you can basically go a couple of weeks later and ride with a significantly (in this case maybe several hours) less of a wait in line. Is it really worth the bragging rights? Am I missing something? Then again, I watched people wait two hours for a freaking donut at Universal on the opening day a few weeks back and I went about a week later and walked right up to the cash register... I totally agree with you Robb. I'd much rather visit a park for a new attraction several weeks after its opening than invest time and money to visit opening day/weekend. I remember when I visited Cedar Point the first weekend Gatekeeper opened and the wait for the ride was around three hours! It was a cloudy, damp, and very cool day, in fact. If I'm not mistaken, high winds arrived the following day and shut-down all the major coasters. It's far more advantageous to resist the impulse and wait a bit, which will likely mean shorter lines and better weather (this is Sandusky, after all). Of course, similar to your donut story, a new Krispy Kreme opened in the Chicago area about a year and a half ago (seven years after all the area locations closed) and the store had a 60+ minute wait. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Intaman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's awesome to hear! What were the effects in the tunnel? Not sure if anybody else responded (so pardon any redundancy), but basically, the train enters the tunnel and there are these illuminated rail signs on either side ahead of you along with corresponding train/crossing gate bell sound effects. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Source. Yeah it has been posted a handful of times since Winter Chill Out but it keeps getting overlooked, haha. Definitely exciting. I rode Maverick a couple times during the Lebron James Family Foundation Benefit last Friday and I must say that the reintroduction of effects inside the tunnel are a nice added touch, especially as you prepare for the second launch. I really like how Cedar Point is looking for ways to spruce up older attractions. -
Awesome coverage and report, Robb! The fog really did a fine job of creating a cool atmosphere for the media day. I also appreciate your comments regarding credit counting and ranking. It really is more about riding and having fun. As time has passed, I find myself less concerned about raising my count or ranking my top tens and more about simply enjoying the experience (good company always helps!), which is why I have long valued the TPR approach over the alternative! Anyway, I'm super excited to ride this and it certainly looks like a big win for both RMC and Cedar Point!

Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
Intaman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just think - for a "modest" $200.00 donation, you can have free admission for one entire year! Seriously, where does this guy get these numbers? At the current pace of donations, he should have that $20 million in about 342 years! -
Andy's 2017 Coastermania Photo TR
Intaman replied to The Great Zo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Awesome trip report per usual Andy! Ever since HWN and Coastermania weekends have aligned, I have chosen HWN over Coastermania. However, with CP capping the attendance (and the boat cruise!), I may have try to do the event again next year (especially with the rebirth of Mean Streak). I share your sentiments about MF. Despite having ridden many top-tier coasters, I still put ol' Millie at the top of my steel list. -
Worst roller coaster theme
Intaman replied to WestCoasterKing's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Before it's transformation, I used to think Mantis had a pretty bad theme. From the color scheme to the station, I felt completely lost by the entire Mantis name. -

Best Wooden Coaster Collection
Intaman replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd have to say Holiday World. I love Voyage and Raven and Legend aren't too shabby either. -
This is outright pathetic. These people like to embellish so many stories about you Robb and conspire against you and here they are embarrassing themselves by doing exactly what they want others to believe you do. It's the ol' pot calling the kettle black scenario. I think these people spend a good portion of each day obsessing over you. It's quite evident. The post from this guy along with the creepy email from the other guy is sick. Who would ever want to doing anything with these people? BTW, according to the ACE website, Robert is an Executive Committee member (ACE Region Director). Way to represent ACE. If this guy was you, those disgruntled people over at that "I hate TRP" FB page would suggest forwarding those comments to Six Flags and Disney.

805Andrew's 2015 Japan Trip
Intaman replied to 805Andrew's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great TR so far, Andrew! This brings back so many fantastic memories of Japan. Looking forward to more of this report. -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
Intaman replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best Ending: I love the MF ending; it's abrupt and I can still feel the excitement from the train if I am standing in the queue. Lamest Ending: Adventure Express (awesome, then it's like, that's it?!?) -
Space World to close after the 2017 season
Intaman replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No!!! I really enjoyed Space World although the initial 2015 visit was a rain-out, we did get every credit but one. And there were plenty of rain-laden, memorable rides on Titan and Zaturn! Thankfully, we went back to get the Venus credit! Every now and then, I remember the musical styling from Titan (Come to the Space World!). Fantastic memories! -
Energylandia Park Discussion Thread
Intaman replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am pumped about this! It looks very Millennium Force, which I love, with elements of I-305 and Maverick. I wish we could see more Intamin mega-coasters stateside or even another giga, but the market here is no longer the same for them. In any case, this looks awesome; I am already looking forward to a 2018 trip to Poland. -
Rank Your Home Park's Coasters
Intaman replied to Imagineer Josh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For my home park, Six Flags Great America: 1) Goliath 2) Raging Bull 3) Batman the Ride 4) X-Flight 5) Superman: Ultimate Flight 6) Viper 7) American Eagle 8) Vertical Velocity 9) Whizzer 10) The Demon 11) Little Dipper -
The amount of negative and bitter comments out there are as mind-boggling as they are disturbing. Rather than understand the reasons why they were banned and subsequently, no longer welcomed, they deflect the blame onto Robb and fail to own their issues/flaws/insecurities. They resent themselves over their failures, so to cope, they negatively dwell on Robb and TPR (and hope they'll feel better). That is toxic and mentally and emotionally damaging and unhealthy. Plus, it's complete projection. With the Internet especially, there is no way that all people will connect and flourish in any one community. Obviously, something like a banning has adversely impacted these people and has caused way more damage to them then any low-grade, envy-inspired, bitter-laced insult they can fathom. It's ironic that some of Robb's greatest antagonists are those that have attempted and have ultimately failed at entering his line-of-work. Cased closed. There is clearly motive and an agenda among many out there who are unable to replicate Robb's success with TPR since they lack the business acumen/savvy and approach. And they claim Robb wants attention? They want Robb to notice them and to somehow feel (which won't happen!) special, which is why they spend hours and days and weeks and years crying over how Robb banned them from TPR. Based on their reactions to a "banning", I think few "healthy" people would or do want them around anyway unless it's with each other (misery loves company). I would also suspect that those that say Robb has too much time on his hands are those that actually have too much time on their hands, which is why they spend every waking moment stalking out Robb's activity across social media and attempting to track him down at events/DW and what not. Scary and creepy at the same time.

Energylandia Park Discussion Thread
Intaman replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am all about Intamin, so I would opt for that over the Vekoma; however, the Vekoma design does intrigue me, nonetheless. I think either is a win-win (but, I prefer the Intamin, especially since there are so few built stateside nowadays and I love Intamin-designed coasters). -
2017 Worst Year for new coasters in U.S. ?
Intaman replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm actually pretty content with the number of new coasters that have been installed at parks over the past few years; having fewer new coasters to contend with in 2017 will enable me to catch-up on those I have yet ridden (and there are plenty!) like Cannibal, Joker, and Lighting Rod, among others. I embrace 2017 and look forward to what parks will have ready for 2018 and 2019. -
Wow, he really showed everybody. I also like how the shirt survived his ill attempt at proving to Robb and TPR that he doesn't need them. And, wait, he randomly found the shirt underneath a pile of garbage while cleaning his room? He was allegedly banned two years ago; how long was that garbage and the shirt underneath sitting in that room?

Where Are You Going in 2017?
Intaman replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had a rather quiet 2016 with some more regional trips during the summer to Adventureland, Kentucky Kingdom, Cedar Point, King's Island, Arnold's Park and some earlier winter travels to Florida and the Northeast for alpines. Hopefully, I get to a few more parks in 2017. Right now, I am hoping to get back to BGW, Knoebel's, SFNE, and of course, Dollywood for Lighting Rod (at last!). But, if not those, than I traditionally try to do CP, KI, and Holiday World. -
Coaster Wars: Attack of the Clones
Intaman replied to gbioryl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know, as discussed, I think its the quality versus quantity argument. In the case of coaster clones, if there was an El Toro or Maverick at several parks, I would have no problem with it. But, if its simply a bad coaster than I am less enthused about it. Of course, I totally understand that few people outside the coaster community know that there are several Batman clones, but for me, I simply ride bad clones to get the credit.
