  1. The pink slip for my wife's car arrived today. Two cars paid for, one more to go... Eric
  2. This is the first time I've taken this quiz, and I managed to get 16/20---a lot better than I thought I would given how little I've traveled and relatively few rides I've ridden. Eric
  3. You're a no, and a DAMNED YANKEH!!1! Are you getting ready for next year's tax season yet?
  4. ^ Goliath doesn't come to a "complete stop," but it's pretty close. If you're in the front car it's pretty much hang time (that is, leaning forward) coming off of the block brake and waiting for the rest of the train. Eric
  5. ^^ I think it's just depression. Off-topic, to MagicMountainMan, does the NP in your location mean "Newbury Park" by chance? If so, then you're just over the hill from me! Anyway, I'll try to get out to SFMM later this month---if for no other reason than to get another ride on backwards Colossus. I got to thinking about it, and I've ridden four different types of rolling stock on that ride: The original IAD trains, the three-bench PTCs, the Morgans, and the B&Ms. Eric
  6. ^ With the exception of the extra helix before the block brake, it's identical to Goliath at SFMM. Even though I've never ridden it, I would guess that the second half of that ride is pretty much like Goliath. Eric
  7. SFMM was open today (Columbus Day), and I gave some thought to going but didn't. It'd be interesting to find out how crowded it was out there. Did anyone here go? Eric
  8. ^^ Ditto. A lot of laughs await there. Diana works in retail and has come home with some funny stories. It's unbelievable how dumb the public can be. Eric
  9. No. Do you think President Obama should have won the Nobel Peace Prize?
  10. ^ I've not ridden that, but just about any ride that ends with a lift hill is sort of lame. Unfortunately, one of my favorite rides, Ninja at SFMM, ends like that. Eric
  11. I'm irritated with how so few people around here seems to be able to spell "brake" when referring to the device that slows or stops a coaster train. It's not "b-r-e-a-k," it's "b-r-a-k-e." Just gettin' that off my chest. Eric
  12. ^ I never hear the audio during a ride on X2 anyway, except for the part just before the first drop, and the part as you cruise into the station. ^^ I wasn't aware of how Terminator's audio worked, but your explanation made a lot of sense. Electronic sensors can go bad fairly easily. Eric
  13. ^ I started shaving at age 12, so sad you shall not be. Eric
  14. ^ I don't think Terminator is rough or intense enough to knock out the audio system. Good wiring and connections should withstand that ride. Interesting that Train 2 seems to have so many problems, though. I've noticed that its sound seems to be out fairly regularly. Eric
  15. I thought about taking a trip out there today, but decided against it. It was pretty cool outside here at home, but not really SFMM weather to me. There are still a couple of weekends to get out there, so I'll go again then. For some reason, I started thinking about getting my season pass renewal in the mail and what it might reveal about next year's plans for the park. I don't really expect anything till sometime next month or even December. Eric
  16. ^ Well, tomorrow is SATurday. Eric
  17. No, because it clearly shows that they do not know how to follow instructions. Do you play McDonald's Monopoly game when they have it?
  18. ^ Pork barrel legislature brought us the McRib sandwich. Eric
  19. ^ I would suggest that you put in a request to change it (I believe they can do that), but having read your title, I think maybe you'd be wise to just get used to typing a long username... Eric
  20. I went to Gilroy Gardens back in 2004 when it was still Bonfante. Very nice park in my opinion. Love the swinging banana and the monorail with lap bars! Eric
  21. Good-bye cruel world! I'm off to join the circus... Eric
  22. OUR STREET IS FINALLY DONE!!1! Today, they put the final layer of brand new asphalt down! Eric
  23. Many times. That's why they make that stuff, isn't it? Have you ever flown a plane?
  24. Name: Eric Age: 50 What is your roller coaster count? A pathetic 70-ish. What is your home park? Six Flags Magic Mountain, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm. What is the nearest big city? Los Angeles, CA. What is your occupation? Job seeker (but when I work, Technical Writer or Design Drafter). About how many times a year do you visit a park (including your home park)? About 20. About how many times a year do you travel to a park that is not your home park? Less than one. When you travel do you go primarily to amusement parks or do you also try and hit other sites? Some of both. What is the farthest you’ve traveled to go to an amusement park? 2500 miles. Does roller coaster time get in the way of family time? (Do you choose to miss your children’s or family’s sporting events, holidays, birthdays, etc…) Never. Do you have any other major hobbies? Coin collecting, some photography. Do you get feelings of sadness in the offseason? Do you even have an offseason? Do you travel during the offseason? No off-season here in Southern California! Do you consider yourself friends with someone you met who works at an amusement park? (Or reverse it, if you work or worked and an amusement park have you made friends with enthusiasts?) I know a few park employees. Would it bother you to go to an amusement park by yourself? That's usually how I go, so, not one bit! Have you gone to an amusement park by yourself? If so have you ever ran into another enthusiast and tagged along with them? I go alone all the time, and I do occasionally tag along with someone I meet---as long as they don't mind being seen with me! Do you find it easy to make friends with other enthusiasts? I can make friends with almost anyone. How do you get your coaster news? From the Internet, mostly. How many different forum sites do you regularly post on? Two major ones. If there was a poll that asked a large pool of enthusiasts what their favorite roller coaster is, what do you think would be the top 3 responses be for wood? And for steel? Wood: El Toro, Phoenix, Voyage. Steel: Almost anything from Intamin. Same scenario but for amusement parks, what would be the top 3? Cedar Point, Tokyo Disney Sea, Walt Disney World. Have you ever “stolen a kid” to get a credit on a kiddie coaster? No. Do you cut other categories out of your budget to make trips to parks? (Entertainment, fast food, holidays, tobacco or alcohol, etc…) No. Before you visit a new park do you research the park finding the best way to navigate the park, get the best deals, or what days to go? I like to get the "lay of the land" so I have a bit of an edge. Do you feel the roller coaster enthusiast community is a warm and accepting community, or a negative and discouraging community? It tends to be "clique-ish" from where I sit. Do you like to talk about your hobby with people who are not roller coaster enthusiasts? I mention it, but don't say much. I hope my answers were helpful. Eric
  25. ^^ I think people would Scream. Then there's always the idea of swapping Tatsu and Batman's trains... Eric
