  1. The other day, I was up at the mall shopping for clothes when I looked down and saw something crumpled up. When I picked it up, I saw that it was a $5 bill! Eric
  2. ^ At one time, you took the first drop, then went over halfway back up the tower. The drops got progressively smaller, of course, but you went for a longer time then. Now, after the initial drop, you go less than halfway back up, and the drops get smaller much faster. Eric
  3. "...the S&S snoozefest they have there now" (Papas) Supreme Scream was good when it opened. But I agree that its current program leaves a lot to be desired. Methinks Knott's is going to learn the hard way about keeping this ride maintained and operating. You'd think that when it was at Cedar Point they would already know. Eric
  4. ^ QUICK!!1!! LOOK ON YOUR BUS!!11!!! Eric
  5. ^ Having been to both parks, I feel the same way. Disneyland is much smaller but has more charm than the Magic Kingdom in my opinion. I do like both parks, but I still give the edge to Disneyland. Eric
  6. ^ Though I didn't say it, I figured cost was definitely a factor. Security would have to patrol the structure as well to make sure no one is doing anything that they shouldn't be doing in there. Funny thing, thinking back---at one time, parking at SFMM was not only where it is now, but also included the area where Hurricane Harbor is as well as the grassy areas near the front gate. Also, Colossus and Scream! cover what was once a dozen or so acres of parking. The parking lot was actually bigger than the park itself! Eric
  7. ^ Dad won't be making balloons anytime soon, but maybe Dad ought to go someplace where they make license plates... Eric
  8. "Two car lengths is plenty for 20mph." (Homeboy23) When I learned to drive, we were taught one car length for every ten miles per hour of speed. Model Ts didn't go that fast, so there wasn't much to worry about. Nowadays there's a "three-second rule," which isn't a law, per se, but a better guideline to judge distance. Eric
  9. I wonder what will happen to Screamin' Swing? Off to another park? Moved to Soak City? Moved elsewhere within Knott's? I haven't seen anything about that. Not a good move to me. Better to bring back Tumbler or put a dark ride or something else there. I wonder, too, if this will be an upcharge ride? Eric
  10. "I was not tailgating him at all and I did not hit him but after slamming on my brakes I came within maybe three to four feet from him." (Homeboy23) If you had to slam on your brakes and came to within three or four feet from him by slamming on your brakes, you were too close. Eric
  11. "Wait has anybody thought why Goliath was placed in the USA section?" (coasterdude5) Because people in the USA are Goliath sized. Nice Photo TR. SFOG is one park I want to visit someday. Eric
  12. "The thing about a clone, especially when they're on opposite sides of the country, is that nobody is really going to know it's a clone. Other then the people on this site, most people would never have the slightest clue that an exact copy of a coaster exists elsewhere." (AllenA07) The bolded part explains why it ticks me off when people around here get upset about clones. No one knows they're clones except us. And the parks don't build rides for us. Would I like a Kingda Clone? Honestly...no. But I also don't mind whatever SFMM has in store for us. Eric
  13. ^ Based on the last time I rode it, the first sentence in your reply is absolute truth. I did a bone count when I got off, and luckily it passed. Funny thing about that TTA video. I've ridden that a few times, and cannot for the life of me remember going between Space Mountain's two lift hills. They didn't re-route TTA, did they? Eric
  14. ^ Yeah, Scream!'s placement sort of makes a dead end over that way. That's one reason I don't think they'll go that route. As I've stated before, they'll get creative when it comes to squeezing in new attractions. And remember that there are still older attractions that can pass into history and open up some room. You think they'll keep Buccaneer and Swashbuckler forever? They're still popular, but both are 30 years old as it is. Tidal Wave will probably not be around much longer, either...at least I don't think it will be. Eric
  15. I met Gary at the 1999 Fall Conference. Nice guy, and will be missed. Eric
  16. While it's highly unlikely, I still wonder if Six Flags would ever consider a parking structure for at least some of the parking lot. That would open up some space as well. "The north side of Sammurai Summit houses Gold Rusher and Ninja, and Golden Bear Theater is on the South side" (Bolliger&Mabillard) NITPICK ALERT!!! Just for orientation, the Golden Bear Theatre is actually on the east side of the mountain, and Gold Rusher and Ninja are on the west side. Eric
  17. As for SFMM not having the room, don't second guess what they can do. Who'd have thought that Tatsu would have been built where it is? Certainly not me, and I've been going to the park since opening year. This park has more room than you think, and they're not afraid of winding a new ride into, over, and under an existing one. Even if Superman--The Escape stays in place, there's some real estate on the hillsides where something could go and not even interfere with it. Eric
  18. ^ The one near SFMM has their soda fountain like that, too, but I figured it made sense because of the proximity to I-5 and the traffic it can get. One time I asked a manager and was told that "it was just the way the stores were designed." Well, y'know, designs can change... Eric
  19. ^ When? Eric
  20. ^ Agreed. You know what else wastes my time? Eating at Wendy's where the cashiers have to take orders and fill drinks. Wendy's should join the rest of the fast food world and put their soda fountains off to the side and let customers fill them themselves, and then they can get refills later without having to ask the staff, thus slowing down the process even more. That sounds more like a rant than random, huh? But it did just come off the top of my head, so it fits. Eric
  21. I've wondered if it would have worked better to have speakers along the sides of the track and have the audio played as the train passed. It could be triggered by a sensor. Eric
  22. Did they update that boat ride in Mexico? Seems like the last time I was there they had a sign or something announcing its closure for an update. Eric
  23. "V" stands for "Vekoma." So, "Vekoma"-neck sweaters become floppy because of all the abuse they take while ridden (aka "worn"). Why has Disneyland had basically the same logo since 1955, while other parks have changed theirs a number of times over the years?
  24. Higgins Manor in Mission Viejo. I went last year and thought it was worth the visit. It's free, too. Eric
  25. I have it because I'm going to sew it back on my shirt. People write "WTF?!?" and "LOL" all the time, but no one ever writes "HTHSIK" (How The Hell Should I Know?). Why is that?
