Sierra Sidewinder at Knott's (the only one I like so far) is a Mack. I did ride something called Pole Position at the Ventura County Fair a few years back, and I found out that was a Fabbri. Then good ol' Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom, which is a Reverchon. What I didn't like about the Fabbri and Reverchon version was the four-across seating. For whatever reason, I spent the entire ride bumping into the other riders. On the Mack version, however, with only two-across seating, back-to-back in each car, made the ride a lot easier. I do know that the THBS rides have two-across seating as well, only the four riders in each car face each other, so my guess is that the spinning experience on that ride is similar to the Mack version. Whatever...we'll find out more in the next few months. Eric

No. Do you eat healthy food for the most part?

If I hadn't read about this relating to cakes, I'd have thought those were real flowers. Great job! Eric

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup---better known as CHOUP!!! From the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival Serves 6; multiply as needed to feed more 1/4 pound smoked bacon, finely chopped 1 medium red onion, finely chopped 1/2 cup finely sliced celery 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 3 cups whole milk, scalded 2 cups chicken stock, scalded 12 ounces grated white cheddar, Canadian Black Diamond 3 dashes of hot sauce 1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup Moosehead Canadian Ale, room temperature Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste 1 tablespoon freshly sliced chives Step 1: Saute the bacon in a large heavy bottom, non-reactive soup pot over a medium heat until wilted but not browned. Step 2: Add onion, celery and carrots and cook until onion are translucent and bacon has crisped. Step 3: Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly for 2 minutes. Stir in milk and stock, a little at a time, blending well to ensure that there are no lumps. Bring the liquid to a boil, cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Step 4: Remove from heat and whisk in the cheese, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and ale. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Step 5: Sprinkle with chives and serve. Step 6: Enjoy! Eric

"Wasn't 1989 the last family coaster installation?" (Top Thrill Dragster) SFMM added Tidal Wave in 1989. I'd say the last "family" coaster would be Canyon Blaster in 1999. It's more of a kiddie coaster, though. I don't recall what kind of height restrictions there are, but I'm 5'-8" and can ride it. Eric

"...the new coaster will be located in the northwest corner of the Park, near last season's newest innovative thrill ride, Terminator® Salvation™: The Ride." Actually, that's the southwest corner of the park, but I'm just being geographically nit-picky. I'm trying to picture exactly where this ride will be. There is a bit of land between Terminator and the go-carts, and a Tony Hawk's Big Spin could fit... Glad to see a hint of what's to come. I don't have any problem with a Tony Hawk ride, as I think it would be a good fit, but I wonder if by chance they'll theme it to something else---even if only to differentiate it from the other THBS rides. I apologize for a very off-topic comment, but would someone edit the "Post You're Thoughts" to the more correct "Post Your Thoughts"? That has bugged me from the start of the topic. And though I'm not a Yankees fan, I hope they take the Series. It's a nice way to end the first season in their new park. Eric

That's unpossible because it's Tuesday. Eric

Your Favorite Ride of The 1970's

"When were the Intamin 1st Gen Freefalls built?" (DBru) Those opened in 1982; SFMM's did that year, and I think it was among the first. Had SFMM's Revolution not been mangled with the OTSRs, then it would be my favorite '70s ride. I've always liked the long layout, and the fact that the loop---its signature feature---wasn't at the bottom of the first drop, but rather toward the end of the ride, allowing the course to build up to it. I also like its unique approach to the loop---that long gradual descent into it. Eric -
^^^ Yeah, Josh, I remember hearing something about you getting a ride on X2 all by yourself that day. I've done Revolution, Viper, and Superman alone, but it'd be great to take a spin on X2 all alone. ^ I have a feeling that SFMM just might do that. It's a great way to get people out to the park. Nice report. Despite the crowd, it looks like everyone had a great time. About the Taste Pilots Grill...my favorite place to eat at DCA as well. But I like to get the Wild Blue Yonder burger. Strangely, steak sauce and bleu cheese mix very well. I look forward to the new attractions at DCA. Eric -

^ You already know my take on that kind of stuff. I installed Mozilla Firefox, and, like Microsoft Word, it underlines words in red when there's a question about spelling. You can right-click on such words to get suggestions for correct spelling. Anyway, sounds like you had a fun day at Knott's. I'm glad GhostRider was "smooth-ish" for you; remember that it had some work done recently. I've never ridden Screamin' Swing, and probably won't get there before it's gone. For whatever reason, riding it just never really interested me---even if it were free. I've been thinking about going down there in the hopes that the Galloping Goose will be running on the Calico Railroad. One of the crew told me last time I was there that they run it in the off season, usually during the week. Eric -
^ I should have gone today instead of last night, but at least I got to ride Colossus backwards one more time this year. While I was waiting, I noticed that the yellow Psyclone train appeared to have a crack in its fiberglass right behind the right rear seat of the first car. It might have just been the paint or outer coating, but it looked deeper than that. Maybe all those years of being beaten up on its former ride have caught up. As for last night, I expected the park to be busy, but it wasn't too bad. My longest wait was for Goliath and Terminator, both at about 40 minutes. Colossus backwards was about 15-20 minutes, Ninja was a walk-on and I got two rides in a row. Revolution and Viper were more or less walk-ons as well. X2 looked pretty busy, so I didn't ride that, nor did I ride Tatsu, which looked to be about 20 minutes or so. Mostly, I just went out there to be away from home and enjoy the atmosphere of the park for Halloween. I arrived about 7 and left about 10:30. Eric

I've had Altoids, and they are strong, but I wasn't curious about it. I just like peppermint. Do you ever shop at JCPenney?

Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread

The Gravity Group is more or less the company that some of CCI's engineers created, isn't it? I wonder if they've improved on CCI's engineering in such a way that their coasters will hold up over the long haul? I haven't had the opportunity to ride one of the Gravity Group's rides yet, so I'm curious... Eric
