  1. I have never been to Europe, but from what I've seen and heard from people who have, Europeans are generally not as inhibited as we are in the States when it comes to culture and celebrating. Most Europeans don't seem to be as inclined to file lawsuits over every little thing, which may be a factor in why they have some of the crazy rides that they do. Those of us who live here in the U.S. already know that we are all but overmanaged by the government in regard to what we do. Eric
  2. A few weeks back, I switched from Internet Explorer 6 to Firefox 3.5. Eric
  3. While I do enjoy Goliath for its speed and smoothness, I will agree that there should have been more to it, preferably in the airtime department. The ride only has the one airtime hill---which to me is great floater air---but it would have been nice to have had the track double back for another one. For a ride with such a tall drop that produces the speed, a lot of energy is wasted. We can only hope that perhaps a better hypercoaster is in the plans for the future. A nice, long out-and-back could fit with some creative thinking. Eric
  4. All we know is that the new coaster will be located next to Deja Vu, with at least some of the layout below Ninja's first swooping curve. There's an unused building there now (next to the newest Johnny Rocket's Shakes and Fries outlet is) that is going to come down to make way for the ride. As to exactly what kind of ride it is, I don't know of any details. But I wouldn't expect anything really big. Eric
  5. According to that RCDB entry, that coaster is from 1996. To me, it doesn't look like much fun, and I believe O.D. Hopkins is out of business right now. Eric
  6. "Now, if they would only do something with Colossus" (metrock) SFMM has done a lot of retracking and I-beaming work on it, but what's needed now are new trains. Jay, Neal, and Tim already know that, but it isn't a high priority because the trains they use now still work. The thing is, if they got Millennium Flyers, GCII would have to come out and retrack the ride to fit the trains (they don't fit trains to existing track). However, single-bench trains wouldn't do much for Colossus in my opinion, just because it's mostly straight track. I always liked the old three-bench PTCs that were on it before the Morgans, but I heard someplace that maintenance isn't fond of PTC trains for some reason. Maybe the reason that Goliath's color was listed as "sky blue" is because the teal color has faded to that shade. But if it is a new color scheme, that's OK, too. As long as it continues to be smooth and fast, I'll take it. Eric
  7. ^ For whatever reason, I seem to recall that Riddler was painted with a long lasting paint, not unlike what was used on X2. Its paint job has held up rather well for a nearly 12-year-old ride. Goliath will be 10 years old in February, believe it or not. It is nice to see it getting a fresh coat of paint, and hopefully it's of the long lasting variety, too. It doesn't look like I'll be getting out to SFMM today. I'm just not feeling up to it. Eric
  8. For some reason, I thought baby elephants were bigger than that, but I guess not. Very cool. Eric
  9. ^ We see that you found those emoticons, and someone rewarded you with a pie in the face. That's what you get for snooping around. Eric
  10. Is Mega Zeph still standing, and is it salvageable? That would be a nice coaster for a park (not necessarily a Six Flags park) to pick up if it can be saved. Eric
  11. Those have one heck of a radio antenna---I'll bet they can get stations from Europe! Seriously, what a great way to reuse those classic bumper cars! If I could, I'd look into getting one. Eric
  12. It'd be nice if there were a way to find out when the Galloping Goose was running. All I was told the last time I was at Knott's was that it ran in the off season, and only during the week. Eric
  13. ^ Maybe I should go on Wednesday. Originally I planned to go on Black Friday, but this could work out better for me. If I do go, maybe I'll see you there, Josh! Eric
  14. Rides like Kick Boodie and that German swing ride look like great fun. I'm surprised that Kick Boodie could even operate here in Lawsuit Land. And I wonder how many operators that German swing ride goes through each season? Eric
  15. "He can go ride THREE B&M'S EVERYDAY!!!!!" (Elissa) Doesn't SFMM have four B&Ms? And, believe it or not, on my last visit to SFMM a couple of weeks ago, I didn't ride a single one of them. Eric
  16. I really like aerial views of just about anywhere. Needless to say, I spend a lot of time on Bing and Google Maps. Thanks for sharing. Eric
  17. Will there be a new app that allows you to get virtual FastPasses at some point? Eric
  18. I remember this event very well. And what a great thing it was for everyone in Berlin, as well as East Germany. Eric
  19. I've been allowed to bring small Ziploc bags of M&Ms or nuts into SFMM, once I explain that I need that to help control my blood sugar. Like everyone else has said, parks aren't worried about the little things. Should I not have any treats, the candy store near Terminator gives free samples of fudge should I need to get something quick. Eric
  20. ^ I've done a bit of thinking and apologize for ripping on you like that. When I do work, I have an occasional bad day myself, as most people do, and need to vent. But even when I'm not happy with my job, generally I go in glad that I have somewhere to go each day and have something to do---especially when I'm handed that envelope every week (or two, depending) that contains my check. Eric
  21. 28 riders, huh? That'll mean a 14-car train. Sounds rather long. What does Voyage run now? Six- or seven-car PTC trains, I'm guessing. Obviously, I've never ridden Voyage. But it's definitely on my list. Eric
  22. ^ I've seen that mentioned a couple of times over the last few pages of this thread. It's news to me, too, which is why I asked for the source. There's nothing on Screamscape about it. Eric
  23. Goliath getting repainted---yeah, it could use that. Where was that mentioned? Or did I just miss it? Eric
  24. ^ I would say "no" to that one. This will likely just be a small, simple family coaster, very likely an off-the-shelf model. And it could very well be---*GASP* dare I say it---a clone. Eric
  25. "I don't find anything fun about Mulholland at all!" (Calicoasters) That's OK, to each his own. The end of November will come soon enough; it's only, what, three weeks away? Even though I post here fairly often, I don't spend much time thinking about this when I'm not logged on here. Eric
