^ Your last sentence is why the Morgans have to go. I don't know what their service life is supposed to be, but nearly 23 years' worth of rattling should be enough. BUT... Before anyone says it, we already know that there are other things that SFMM needs to do. As long as these trains "work," they'll stay. Eric

^^^ Having ridden Colossus in its original form, there was no "supposedly" in its thrills. It is a shadow of its former self, but it is still a good family ride that can give a little kid his first taste of a "big" coaster. If I could make any change to it, I'd get some new trains first. Secondly, if the park isn't going to run three trains on each/either track, then restore the double down on the parking lot side. Eric

^ It does, too! You can see mountains in the distance. I like Scream!, parking lot or not. Sure, it has that rattle before the first loop, but I've had no terrible rides on it. It's funny how no one ever mentioned that Colossus is a parking lot coaster, too. The lines are faded now, but at one time, they were as prominent as the ones under Scream! Eric

^ I have a funny feeling that a certain person involved in that drama won't be back here much---if at all... Eric

^ Some of that is pretty dumb, but which parts of that are you referring to? Eric

Photo TR: Edge Coaster (and Skywalk) at Cebu City
ebl replied to miniviews's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
The Stratosphere had a coaster till a few years ago (High Roller). I rode it once and thought, "Eh." This "Edge" ride...is it actually a coaster? I ask because it looks like it just rolls along a level path around the top of that building. What powers it? Or is there a lift hill and drop that we don't see? The High Roller had a tire drive lift, then you coasted down and up as you circled the building. But these attractions look like fun. Me, not being scared of heights, would certainly ride if I ever go there. Eric -
"...A few times here and there I throw out a joke and it seems to get passed over, completely ignored..." (metrock) I know how you feel. Maybe the jokes would get a better response if you added "boob" in there somewhere. That seems to be where a lot of people are nowadays. Eric

Those are for people with money to burn. Why don't they paint the lines in parking lots with purple paint? -

Maybe they left it yellow so it stands out, and people will notice it when they're busy texting. Eric -

They see everything in letterbox, and for them, curved things look straight. On the PowderKeg coaster (Silver Dollar City) why don't they put real powder in the kegs on the front of the trains? -

Because if there were 23 or 25 hours in a day, a lot of businesses would have to spend a lot of money changing all those "Open 24 Hours" signs. Why does Tic-Tac-Toe use Xs and Os to mark the squares? -
^^ No, putting Demon Drop at CGA would keep guests on The Edge of their seats. Regarding earlier discussion, I knew that employees have non-disclosure agreements; just didn't know the extent of what was not to be disclosed. I apologize to Zen and others for causing so much disruption in this topic and from now on, I'll keep my nose out of things as rides go. Eric

"The next time this happens, report that operator to their supervisor." (Zen) Whether that's against the park rules (which I didn't know), I will never tell on an employee just for being honest. I never demand explanations. Sometimes they don't tell me. And that's OK. But most of the time they do simply upon asking because of how I approach them. I never bug anyone. I don't doubt you have to answer eleventy thousand questions from anxious, angry guests. Also, it seems you missed this part of my post: "I also approach in a calm manner. I will always leave them alone when it appears that they're overwhelmed or if they just can't say anything." I don't always ask; sometimes it's plain obvious. I can fully understand someone all hyped up running up to you and wanting to know NOW! HURRY UP! TELL ME! ...and not getting an answer. Curiosity about a malfunction is just part of the hobby of amusement parks. Eric EDIT: More stuff for your inconvenience: Many times, I've been at a ride when it broke down and various ride ops/attendants were standing there. If they were in a position for me to ask them, then I would. If they were clearly focused on helping to solve a problem, I said nothing. This is like my interest in railroads. I do know more than the "average" person, and it's frustrating to make a comment that I know is fact only to get "YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!!!" from someone who doesn't know when in fact I do. Many of us here at TPR may not be park employees, ride designers, etc., but we're experienced or knowledgeable enough to know what we're talking about.

"Side Note: Cassie was born in Japan but is not Japanese. How does that work? You figure it out" My wife is Japanese, but was born in the U.S. Same thing, only opposite. "I think this thing is a Pagota but I could be wrong." Sorry...you're wrong. It is a torii (toh-REE). That means "gate" in Japanese. You don't have to fly to Japan to get Pocky. If you look, it's in many stores that sell Japanese stuff. There are places here in SoCal where we get ours, so I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Oh, and I didn't see any mention of eating Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup...aka CHOUP!!! at Epcot. Possibly the best stuff to eat at the Food and Wine Festival. Wonderful Photo TR. This just whets my appetite for a return visit (hopefully) in 2011 when I want to take Diana there for her 21st birthday. Eric

^^ I woke up once at about 2am and noticed the time. Then I went out into the living room and told my folks, "WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE AT THE CHURCH RIGHT NOW TO GO TO WINTER CAMP!!1!!!1" My dad looked at me and calmly said, "It's 2 in the morning, not the afternoon." Why they were still up at 2am is another story, but I didn't question it. That's about the closest I've come to anything like that. Eric

Sometimes when a ride is down and I want to find out what's going on, I'll throw out a technical term or two, and usually the "vague" explanation suddenly becomes more detailed. That's because the ride op realizes that I know what I'm talking about, and I also approach in a calm manner. I will always leave them alone when it appears that they're overwhelmed or if they just can't say anything. I understand that. When they do fill me in, they do so as a courtesy, not because they have to. Eric

^ When I read that, your comment was my first thought. Anyway, most likely, SFMM will be my first park of 2010. It usually is. Eric

It depends on how many pockets your pants have. Why is there cursive writing and printing? Why not just one style of writing? -

Because it provides jobs for the people who make the "YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO RIDE" signs for parks. What is a recipe for disaster? -
THE one thing the Six Flags Theme parks lack.

^ Is it that high already? It's moved up a notch or two since I last checked. This is definitely a good idea, but for the reasons already mentioned, it's not going to happen any time soon. I have spoken to Jay Thomas at SFMM and he pretty much said what everyone here has said. Eric -
"I don't even think most people were aware that building existed." (Robb) What building? I was last at SFMM on November 15 and Terminator's fire was working, but there was no mist in the tunnel. Audio at the beginning was OK, but didn't really notice it during the ride. X2's fire went off just fine. Because I was there when it was getting dark, I didn't notice any painting on Goliath. I'll see if I'm up for a visit on Black Friday. Maybe I'll see something then. Eric

I know it's west, but how far out of Amarillo is that? Maybe if I show up there again I'll go see it. Eric
