"I don't know about you rebels, but I'd prefer not to pay for the repercussions this anarchistic point of view would inevitably bring to society. If people were able to 'do whatever they wanted to their bodies,' I'd eventually be paying for their stupidity out of my own wallet. One day, you two might figure this out, and change your mind. Some laws actually do exist for a reason." (BeemerBoy) I had to quote this entire post because I agree 100% with it. And it is true: if anyone did "whatever they want" to their bodies, who's going to pay for the inevitable costs for emergency services, healthcare, cleanup, etc.? Everyone else? Why should I pay for your stupidity? Eric

^ Suggestion for you...use a space before the parentheses. Not this:(example) This: (example) That'll help make your posts a bit easier to read. Eric

^ I'm not opposed to legalizing marijuana strictly for medical use (in places where it isn't already), but as I keep saying, its use needs to be supervised. One concern is that some people may want other drugs like cocaine legalized as well. To me personally, having alcohol abused and misused is bad enough. (I'm all in favor of new vehicles coming equipped with mandatory breathalyzers that could prevent vehicles from starting should the would-be driver be under the influence. I say that, though, not knowing what that would cost/entail, if someone could devise a way around it, etc.) To me it's not about your personal right to use marijuana; it's about how your use of it could impair you and what damage you could cause to others by being under its influence. "I believe the government has no right to dictate what you can and cannot put into your body." (Top Thrill Dragster) When its use can affect other people (like people driving under the influence), then yes they should. This is why medical marijuana should be used under strict supervision until its effects wear off. Eric

KILL THE BEAST! There. I said something that's needed saying for quite some time now. Eric

Strange as it sounds, even using insulin can produce some pretty strange results. Blood sugar that is too high causes symptoms that mimic a person under the influence of alcohol---slurred speech; slow, clumsy movements. Blood sugar that is too low causes chills, sweating, shaking. Both conditions can be brought on by an incorrect dosage of insulin. Many drugs can produce strange side effects and ideally would be better taken in a place where the patient can be monitored. (That's why I suggested it earlier.) But, of course, such treatment centers would cost a lot of money that would more or less have to come magically out of a hat. Eric

Some of the other Batman rides in the Six Flags chain have been given new paint jobs. SFMM's Batman is the only one with the all-gray track/spine, and I honestly like the way it looks with the black supports. Somehow any other colors would kill the theme. Just my opinion, though. But getting the original effects back in place would be nice. Scream!'s theme? Leave it alone. I can't speak for anyone else, but whenever I'm in a parking lot---especially this time of year---I find myself "Scream!" ing at the antics of so many other drivers. The ride's tri-color scheme looks good, but can use a freshening. It's almost seven years old. There is definitely enough fire on the rides at SFMM. One more ride with it would be overkill. Eric

I don't know enough about the medicinal benefits of marijuana or how long the effects of it last, but what if they kept marijuana users overnight in facilities after they've used it? That way, at least anyone who's had to use it would not leave the facility high after their session. Eric

I made over $500 over the weekend working three casino nights. And I really can use the money. Eric

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

About the name: if one park can call a coaster "X," then why can't another park call one "Thirteen?" I eagerly await more details on this ride, and if it's limited to people under 55 years old, then I'd better hurry to ride it---I'm only five years away. Eric -

I believe WCB was $30 if you had a Six Flags season pass. One heck of a deal considering what you got. And I expect that whatever the fee is this time will also be well worth what you get in return. Eric -

It's great that Knott's was added to the lineup, and makes for a complete weekend of great theme park fun. This may be the best Bash yet. Eric -
Regarding my slice of Happiness Pie three posts up, I decided to go to the Auto Show tomorrow, rain or shine. It's all indoors so the only possible problem with weather is the quarter mile walk from the Metro to the Convention Center...could be wet. And, I'm eating the last slice of apple pie. Eric

Diana has left the house, and an Amtrak train just went by. Is my house the center of action or WHAT? Eric
