No, because if I had to deal with that on a daily basis, I'd probably kill someone! Do you service/upgrade your own computer?

Now we won't know if he's zipping into or out of a train when we're riding the subway. It'll always be a mystery. Swayze was too young and had so much more to do. And he seemed like a really nice guy---not exactly the type that we have in Hollywood anymore. Eric

I've never even been to Michigan, so I'll say...no. Have you ever wondered how an animal with eyes on the side of its head can see straight ahead?

A fun day at the DLR, complete with 1-1/2 rides on Autopia. How did I get a half ride? Someone's car stalled and they had to walk us off. But we got an entrance pass to any attraction. I never used the pass, but getting to walk along the Autopia track was worth it enough. Eric

^ Good to hear, and my pleasure. I hope all of you enjoy Legoland when you get there---I'm sure you will. Eric

Revenge of the Mummy
ebl replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have ridden both. Florida's version is longer and actually gives a bit of airtime at points. It's been almost three years since I rode in Florida, but it seemed like it had less of a backwards section than the California version does. Verdict: I prefer Florida's. Eric -

Not in a row, but I'm sure I've logged 47 rides on something... Do any of the faucets in your house leak?

^^ Sorry about your grandpa, but do know that he's in a better place and will be waiting for you. Eric

"I absolutely hate 1,000 Island dressing (always order it without)" (cfc) I'm right there with you, Chuck. That stuff...eh, I won't go there...better to get your burger the way you like it, and In-N-Out'll do it for you if you ask. I've never had a problem. Of course, as I've said, I order the Flying Dutchman (part of their "secret" menu). That's just two burger patties and two slices of cheese that you eat with a fork and knife. A rather dainty way to eat at In-N-Out, but it cuts the carbs for those needing to do so. Eric

"Maybe it was called the atom smasher at one time or another?" (WFChris) The Sierra Twist (Bayernkurve) was called "Swiss Twist" from its installation in 1973 till 1993 when that area was rethemed to High Sierra Territory. Atom Smasher has always been a Himalaya, though possibly a different unit than what is there now (I don't believe so, but someone at the park might have a better answer). The Himalaya arrived in 1974 and was called...drum roll, please..."Himalaya." It was renamed "Subway" during that area's days as Back Street (1987-1993), right before it became Gotham City Backlot. Rode twice, crashed twice. Haven't been on one since. Have you ever ridden on a classic Crown school bus?

Ripsaw Falls and modified drop
ebl replied to some sort of coaster dude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only ridden Ripsaw Falls one time (in 2006), and at no time did I ever feel unsafe. Sounds like yet another ride ruined. Just curious...who is the manufacturer of Ripsaw Falls? Arrow doesn't produce flumes anymore to my knowledge. Is this a Mack? Vekoma? Eric -
One of the things SFMM has been doing to Colossus is replacing the lower layers of wood with steel I-beams. You can see that on the opposite track as you ride. Honestly, I'd like to see those ancient Morgans replaced with PTCs (though I doubt that) or almost anything else. They can't operate backwards, which is why the Psyclone trains are used for that. I don't worry about the structure of Colossus. It was built to handle the original IAD trains, which were rather heavy if I recall correctly. Before the Morgans, the park ran four-car, three-bench PTCs---and one track ran backwards all the time (the track closest to Goliath, "right side" I guess you'd call it). Eric

Colossus backwards isn't too bad, even when riding in the old Psyclone trains that they use. My only gripe with it, besides the fact that it is a mere shadow of its former self, is that the layout really doesn't offer a very good race. If the two trains leave the lift at the same time, the one on the left gets ahead on the first turnaround. Next, the right side one catches up during the second turnaround. Finally, it gets ahead on the third turnaround. It would have been better had the layout been set up for a more or less even race start to finish. Eric
